    Good job on demystifying the Live Loops. Much appreciated. Though I am totally confused, so I will watch it a few times and try to digest it. I am like HUH! This is on me not you. Thanks for all that you do. So cool.

    I've totally ignored live loops so far while learning how to use Logic. But this has opened my eyes to how this will help my workflow no end😂 Great video as always 😎👍👍

    👏🏻 Bravo . I enjoyed your live loop recording performance !!! I've been avoiding the Live Loops feature because it was daunting, but after this video I feel like I've seen what I needed to see to start using it today. This video was great.

    Very informative and thorough video!! One question: As a long time Logic user I was excited when they added the live loop concept, but I’ve found it to be pretty useless for anything other than just the triggering of previously inputed loops. Whenever I’ve tried to use it in an actual “live” situation, meaning real time audio recording of instruments, there has always been the same inherent fatal flaws in the software which prevent this from operating in a useable pro manner. Let’s say for example one wanted to record a guitar part and then as it’s looping back, record another guitar part into a new track/cell, and keep doing the same thing for 2 more guitar tracks, and then a couple synth tracks, etc… The 1st issue is that once the audio loop is recorded into the cell it has a noticeable lag in timing before it gets back into the pocket on playback. This happens in the first milliseconds of the very first cycle of loop playback after it’s completed the recording as it switches over to playback mode. My guess is it has something to do with the calculations and fact that it keeps wanting to keep the flextime algorithm on. Some may not notice this, but if you are playing to a groove or adding many tracks it becomes a frustrating and very unprofessional mess as every new loop recorded in has a momentary catchup time on it’s first cycle of playback . 2nd issue… there is an audible pop at the start and end of the audio recorded into the cells. Again this may be slight to some, and hard to hear depending upon the style and context, but as you add tracks it only adds up. If one adjusts their audio performance (guitar playing, analog synth etc) to begin a millisecond after the loop starts, or ends it a ms before it stops record mode then probably won’t hear this, but that’s very awkward. It seems that a simple built in, slight crossfade in/out would solve this. I’ve spent a lot of hours trying to find work around, settings etc…as well as research online, but it seems to be a pretty know bug which Apple has yet to acknowledge or fix. It’s a bummer because in my basic exploration with Ableton I’ve yet to find these issues. Instead it’s actually surprising smooth and glitch free so far, but I’d love to be able to do the same type of clip based work in Logic as it’s the DAW I’ve been with for years. Curious to know if anyone is familiar with this or has any advice/ workarounds. Thanks!

    I am a multi Instrument player and I want to start preforming with loops every musician that I know telling me that I should switch to Abelton, it’s possible to use logic Live Loops with mapping and effects chain in Live Loops?

    Thanks for the video Chris. Quick question : can a specific BPM be tied to each scene ? If not, how can you manage tempo change during a performance or a set using Live Loops ?

    Great video. One question. In live loops is it possible to record more than 1 track at a time? For example if I wanna record a snare with two different mics? Thank you.

    Is this intended for live performance (like Abelton) or more for sketching out song ideas at home? For live use, I’m sure it’s pretty stable - being native software on a Mac.

    Great vid as always. I am just moving over to Logic from Ableton as I like the editing process in logic more. Ableton has a 'convert region to scene' funtion (not sure if that is the right name for it) but you can select let's say 4 bars of your arrangement and it will then dump all that back to session view as a new scene. It's good for trying out stuff quickly. It would be great if Logic could do this as it would be the best of both worlds (it may already do so??).

      Yes, you can do that. There are 2 options: Copy to Live Loops and Copy Cycle to Live Loops. Look for these key commands in the Key Command window. Copy to Live Loops just copies all selected regions to Live Loops, Copy Cycle to Live Loops copies all regions within the Cycle locator to Live Loops.

    Wow! Amazing Teaching! How do you make pressing a cell in live loops start at a different measure in the arrangement window? My goal is to create a set list, it would be perfect if each drum pattern in a cell could have a different tempo. I'm assuming I'd need to create markers in the arrangement window, but how do you link them to cells, or is this even possible? Thanks a lot..

    Can I use this feature to perform like Elise Trouw or do I need ableton for that?

    First thank you for your great series! Comming from Ableton the one thing i am really missing for this mode is that you can trigger the cells with midi instead with the mac keyboard - do you know a way? thanks again.😀

    • @drvoodoo3073
      @drvoodoo3073 8 месяцев назад

      Yes you can. Open up the Key Commands window and go to the Live Loops Grid section. Trigger Cells or Scene and Trigger Focused Scene are the key commands you need to assign to your MIDI controller and you can do that directly in the Key Commands window, just select the command and hit the Learn New Assignment button at the bottom right.

    Hey Chris! Hope you see this:
    I love using loops for so many reasons. My major CON with them has to do with time signatures. It seems like they only function in standard 4/4. Do you know if that is false? Are the loops able to accommodate 3/4 or 6/8?

    • @pro.tharan
      @pro.tharan Год назад

      I think that comes from your loop region that you set for the playhead. Maybe experiment with setting this region first in your loop area?

    Can you record autmation into the cells?

    • @drvoodoo3073
      @drvoodoo3073 8 месяцев назад

      Yes. You can record the automation while you're recording the MIDI notes, if you move any fader during recording all that automation will be recorded directly simultaneously. If you want to record the automation AFTER you recorded the MIDI notes select the track you want to automate and then hit the 'New Track with Same Channel Strip/Instrument' key command, look for it in the Key Commands window. Logic will create a new track with the same instrument + settings, it's really a carbon copy of the original track though. All that's left to do is record the automation. You'll see a little icon that looks like the Automation button at the bottom right of this new cell if done correctly.
