Tbh the meinl live performance isn't as good as some of the concert ones. The mix isn't great. I would stick to the studio track, also I suggest wax wings, atropos and satellites. Tbh so much diversity from this band.
Love the music hands going wild. The hands are just a conduit for musical momentum. Also, funny you mention Dream Theater, one of the guitarists for Periphery is John Petrucci's nephew. JP actually appeared on their song "Erised", performing a guest solo.
As a person whos seen them live in silver springs maryland, where theyre really from, theyre amazing. Also met them playing pokemon go nicest dudes in the world.
Periphery, Tesseract, and Leprous are some of my favorite bands, so I am sure you two will love Periphery. They're actually the band that turned me into a metalhead. This track is one of their more straightforward ones. There are some that are more proggy, some that are heavier, and some that are all kinds of things. That's one of Periphery's best attributes - lots of variety in their discography. You could go anywhere for your next song, they have so many great options...but maybe Absolomb, the track that I first heard, would be a good one. Periphery fans always recommend Reptile immediately. I don't. It's a massive, incredible, insane song and you'll see that when you look at the length. Get familiar with the band a little bit I say, so you can really appreciate that one. And whenever you do get to it, you should probably just listen to the version on the album, not a live performance.
I recommend Omega by Periphery. It's in their top 3 imo Your mind will be blown by the musicianship, transitions, melodies, and moods of that song. It's one of their masterpieces. It's one of their heaviest, AND catchiest songs with some of their best riffs and best vocals hands down. And on that album it then leads into their second best song called stranger things so either would be good picks
Great reaction. If you want another highly complex periohery song however one which is MUCHHHH heavier I recommend you guys react to their song called Blood Eagle. Its incredible but it is one of the heaviest songs ive listened too so keep that in mind if you go to listen!
Highly recommend Periphery- Reptile. There's even a live studio performance of it!
Thankies
@@DashyAndDadReacts I second this recommendation!

Dont do the live. Vocalist was sick not as good as recorded version
@moatfloater mix isn't perfect and spencer wasn't on his A game, but live always has more impact imo. I never expect live sound to be great.

Agreed Periphery it is best to listen to a bunch of different tracks and then you still can't predict what you will get.
Please listen to Lune by Periphery, live studio thingy. its so good, perfect for the channel!
Thankies 🤘🥰🤘
Favorite band, glad you both checked them out. You should listen to Reptile or Absolomb next if you plan to do another by them. Cheers!

Love the video! Just as an FYI for you, djent is pronounced like "jent", the D is silent.
