To me, the older portrait depicts a much older woman. The refurbished photo is perhaps how she would have appeared in her twenties.

Except in the original portrait Elizabeth was in her 60s and wore wigs as hair was thin and grey. Both the portrait and your photo shop flatter her greatly. Not a wrinkle, mole or freckle!
Queen Elizabeth 1 always told the painters to not make any moles or freckles in her paintings so yea

Changing color changes the appearance of depth which changes bone structure. This just puts a filter of sorts on her face. And the artist arbitrarily chose an eyebrow shape/thickness when we don’t know what they would have looked like. Eyebrows change the face a lot. Also, the artist blurred out her subtle jowls, so she looks younger.

These things are clever, but the original portrait looks more like a real person than the finished result, which just makes her look weird. Anyway, portraitists often flattered their subjects - especially one who was a queen! - and I dare say Elizabeth looked a damn sight worse in real life than she does in her portrait.
Her portrait was a photoshop version of her real self like everyone else did in that time. They weren’t better than we’re. I would love to see someone changing the portraits up to make it more realer.
