When they say millenial, they mean generation Z.
She meant generation Z. Millennials are at youngest 21 as of 2018, oldest 35 as of 2018. The show ran when I was in elementary school and when my siblings were in high school, in fact it ended when my brother was in his sophomore year of college in 2003 and he is millennial.

Jose Rose yup, older millennials mostly grew up with Clarissa, while the younger ones, Sabrina, well at least childhood wise. She’s misinformed on the generations.
Mista Eazy-E MAN23 1983-1996 is a millennial. I’m born in 1991 and watched Sabrina every night on TGIF along with Boy Meets World, Family Matters, Fresh Prince, and the WB network because my parents refused to get cable until I was like in 4th grade. My sister was a senior in high school and my brother was a sophomore in college when Sabrina ended. My sister also watched Buffy every single day after school, and Buffy came out the same time as Sabrina. Also, 7th Heaven too. All those shows came out the same year. A person who wouldn’t remember these shows or care are people born in like 1998 and up. My little sister was born in 2000 and doesn’t know these shows... they are generation Z.
Sara Milly 1981-1997 actually, and yeah I grew up watching the shows as well as Moesha, sister sister, one on one, my wife and kids.
The original was good because it had the sense of family and i was obsessed with their house and rooms and other realm. All new modern shows have unrealistic home sets and it doesn't feel like home especially during the holiday episodes. Most teen show set room look futuristic like a spaceship (especially nickolodeon) how is that warm and welcoming ?

brainey001 the 90’s sitcom isn’t the original it’s simply another reboot of the 60’s/70’s comic books and cartoon series and of the live action movie that came out a year or two before the 90’s sitcoms. The 2018 show is a live action version of the horror comics.

i loved the original. That was back when I was a pre-teen and TGIF was what I looked forward to all week. I loved that it was a comedy series and Salem really stole the show with his lines. It made me want a Spell book and a Victorian house. There's a channel I have that still shows the original and I still watch it every day.
Seeing Melissa makes me want a talking cat...

I loved her growing up she and a few others actor's and actresses of the 90's will always be more loved by me then these NEW generation actors (no offense) actors of the 80's & 90's just seem more real and relatable in there characters.. Sometimes watching a new show if you really pay attention you can see when their trying to spit out their line or struggling to really be their character. Actors back then slipped into the roles more easily because they played them as every day people like you and me. Also let's not forget the WRITTING for these shows was WAY better then the junk they show on TV today.. Why do you think most shows in the 90's have 8-13 years running times lasting on TV's. Cause they were GREAT, now you'll be lucky if most shows make it past season 3-4. Longest Running Shows That I Remember (I'm sure you guys can name more) 7th Heaven, FRIENDS, Boy Meets World, 90210, Sabrina, FullHouse, Martin & Family Matters that's just to name a FEW!!
The original Sabrina was a family comedy. The original Beauty and the Beast was a mystical, romantic crime drama. The original Archie was a cartoon based on the comic book. All had lots of color and light in both the scenery and dialogue. Why do people today think that darkness and stark realism is actually a GOOD thing for something that we use to ESCAPE reality?!

They really missed an opportunity to make a fun, comic nostalgic Sabrina for people who watched the show as a kid. This tone sounds completely off, but I know they're not targeting my demographic.

Yeah, another 26 year old here and I remember watching the show with my brother when we were kids, I remember watching it every Friday on the TGIF nights of ABC channel in the mid-late 90s lol I think she probably meant Generation Z.

Millennial is a terrible terminology since its literally anybody that's born 1982 or later. so someone that is currently 36 in the year 2018 is in fact a "Millennial". I thought it was people born in the late 90s and later but nope........1982 smh mixing nearly three generations all together like that just why lol

Mista Eazy-E MAN23 Millennials are 21-35 years old as of 2018. I’m 26 and Sabrina, Buffy and all those shows ended when I was like 11. I watched them all on TGIF, WB and so on. If you can’t remember those shows you are generation Z. My little sister is born in 2000 and she’s generation Z. She doesn’t remember any of these shows, BUT my 2 older siblings are Millennials and they graduated high school in 2001 and 2003 when Sabrina was on the air. Melissa was only born 5 years before the generation X cut off and when the Millennial generation began. I don’t think she realized that.

I don't see the big deal with a reboot. The 90s sitcom was a reboot of a 60s-70s cartoon called 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' (no surprises there). And even that was a tv adaptation from the Archie comics, and was a spinoff tv show for The Archie Show. The 90s Sabrina was obviously VERY different from the 70s Sabrina. And both were good - just different. Both shows were a reflection of the youth culture within their own decades. 70s Sabrina was sweet, cheesy, corny and campy. 90s Sabrina updated the comedy aspects to be raunchier(well, 'raunchy' only compared to the mentioned predecessor. It was still corny family friendly humour, but updated with a bit of a darker tinge than before. I mean - for example Salem didn't become a convicted felon UNTIL after the 90s sitcom. Before that, he was just an 'ordinary' cat who couldn't talk ...with a few magical abilities). This reboot might turn out to just be a decent show to reflect what people like to watch *now*. But...I am PRAYING it doesn't become a horrible mess like it's brother 'Riverdale'. That doesn't even remotely resemble the Archie characters. They just happen to have the same name. That's the only connection - it tried too hard to be a dark and edgy teen soap opera, and came out looking ridiculous. I hope a Sabrina reboot will do a much better job at that.
A very nuanced take. I share your concerns as well. But it should be made clear that the show isn't based on OG Sabrina, but the 2014 version from the Archie Horror line. It is completely different from any of Sabrina's past iterations.
The new show (hopefully) won't be another teen melodrama, but hopefully mostly horror-oriented. But since like you said, it's from the same company that produces Riverdale....it has to prove it's worth. On the plus side, the cast is as a whole is very good. Shipka knows how to play dark and the aunts (Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto) and the villian (Michelle Gomez) are veteran actors so no problems with the acting. And I think the best thing is that the episode count is relatively small. 10 episodes per season. Riverdale had an enormous 22 episode for season 2 that did it's writing no favor.
Still super excited for this show. We'll see how it turns out.

I love Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina back in the 1990's. I'm glad to say that I have every Sabrina the Teenage Witch shows on DVD 💖 I remember wanting a car just like Salem!

Alex whilst I admit I do like the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina they’re are some aspects from the original show I miss such as Salem speaking and of course Melissa Joan Hart who I miss a lot and I hope Netflix can get her to appear at some point also I loved how Sabrina use to have sparkly magic

Alex he was one of the greatest parts of the original comedy show and the the animated series which I’m so glad Nick was able to come back for the first animated series to voice Salem again plus he got to work with Melissa again

I am watching the first episode now and it is very different than the first one. Ross lynch is in it even balcey from Larry and balcey it was a 80's show. It would have been cool to see Melissa Joan heart play on of the aunts. Good show so far

I was born in 2000 and I am used to most of the 90s stuff, my taste "ends", I would say, in 2010. That includes of course also all european shows, because I am from central europe.

The 90’s sitcom isn’t the original. It’s simply another reboot of the 60’s/70’s comic book series, the 70’s cartoon series, and the live action movie. The 2018 show isn’t a reboot of the 90’s sitcom it’s a live action version of the horror comics.

You do realise that Sabrina the Teenage Witch was a comic book created in 1962, right? It existed twelve years before Hart was even born. It even had an animated TV show adaptation in '68.
So yeah, the thing CAN exist without her, since it did exist more than 30 years before the show she starred in.

I have seen the previews and I cannot wait. I am not a millennial but I did see the original and cannot wait for this one. I just know it was based on the comics instead of the original format. I think it was very smart of them to switch it up in order to reboot it. By the way, these days the default excuse is “millennial‘s“ which seems to be a group spanning about 40 years because it has become such a default excuse.

what the 90s sitcom fans don't realize is this reboot is mirroring its actual source material from the comics which were dark comedy with blood and gore. the sitcom tv series was a total flip to be kid friendly instead straying away from that entirely.

I was born in 1995 and remember the original (like everything about it) and it was my favourite show. My boyfriend was born in 1997 and doesn't even remember it being a thing... He loved the reboot and I "meh-ed" it lol
You officially made me feel ancient reading your comment lol. I was 12 in 1995 and 13 when the first episode of Sabrina The Teenage Witch originally aired. My generation was the show's key demographic actually. That was my favorite show to watch; never missed an episode. I've been watching the reboot of it and I'm starting to like it. A lot darker and more gory, which definitely sets it apart from the sitcom. In fact there are moments it can be kind of scary. Not terrible, though. The acting is pretty great, but you can tell this reboot is geared more toward the Millennial crowd and not the young Gen Ex crowd.

I remember this was so popular when I was a kid. I've seen the new one, but prefer the older one. I actually couldn't even make myself finish the newer one. Not a drama or soap opera fan (there are a few exceptions, but the chilling adventures of Sabrina isn't one of them), and didn't care for the characters either
As much as I want to like Melissa as I love her sweet characters, I think she is a bit bitter. She doesn’t like cats, doesn’t love pets, she is always mocking some people that worked with her or got involved with her before, she doesn’t show a lot of support for the new Sabrina. I think that’s why I love Sarah Michelle Gellar. She is so confidente and resolved with her career, always giving support to other actors or ppl that would like to continue Buffy.

I love Sabrina the Teenage Witch, I grew up watching the series and the movies as well! Melissa’s got a big role in my life as a model and someone to look up to. Watching Sabrina Goes to Rome always brings me back to the years when I would get back home from school and run straight to my room to watch TV! The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is Satanic and inappropriate, and as a Wiccan myself I feel deeply offended for having my practices and image somehow associated with that character. Miss the times of REAL Sabrina
