I use black paper twist ties, some people use pipe cleaners, but you could always make them out of paper and glue them on the sides.

I have a question, Do I have to use a craft knife? Or can I use scissors aswell, because I printed the template and I have no craft knife

It's really up to you if you want to try cutting out a template with only scissors; which you can do, you just have to be careful enough. The only thing you can't really get away with are things like slits, which you can just poke through with a pin to make the hole.

Go ahead, I used to do that. If you want close to exact measurements, you could trace with a piece of paper over one of the templates on a big enough screen. The templates can be found in the description.

Sorry to hear that, try printing some other png's, (as in one that is not from my drive) to see if it's a problem with the printer. Otherwise I'm not sure what's going on as the templates are regular png's.
