  • Are Benedict Cumberbatch's eyes blue 🔵 or green 🟢? The answer is both!
This condition is called Heterochromia Iridum, which is an uneven distribution of pigment in the colored part of the eye. There are three different types of Heterochromia: sectoral or partial, complete, and central.
Sectoral or Partial Heterochromia is when only some parts of the iris are a different color. This can appear as mixed coloring, specks, or colored spots in the eye. Benedict Cumberbatch has this type since his eyes are blue interspersed with green and a small brown spot. Jane Seymour and Kate Bosworth also have this type of heterochromia with a brown spot on one of their eyes.
Complete Heterochromia is when one eye is a completely different color from the other eye. Actor Josh Henderson has this type of Heterochromia, with one blue eye and one green eye. Professional baseball player Max Scherzer also has this type since he has one blue and one brown eye.
Central Heterochromia is when a different color encircles the pupil. Olivia Wilde has this type of Heterochromia as she has gray/blue eyes with a green ring encircling her pupil.
