If stokes comes back the most logical I think is to drop Bashir he got just 1 wicket and root can bowl his overs next test if needed.
@@thew4rrior5code Can't expect too much of a young spinner away from home on one of the most flat tracks in history. Have to think of his confidence too. Stokes in at 7 would be a nightmare to be fair, would feel like the middle order never ends.
@@liamr194 Yeah Bashir has been good so far but leach is still no.1 right now. With how much damage the seamers are doing out there maybe 2 genuine spinners isn't needed. I mean Root is more than a part timer.
You need maximum bowlers here to share the workload so if Stokes also bowls then only it is beneficial to drop Bashir
@@thew4rrior5code Fair comment. Just so long as we don't (mis) handle him like we have other young promising players who get bombed out of the first team setup for one underperforming series away from home. I remember the young Lancashire opener struggling away from home and he never recovered from getting the boot straight after.
@@karthik007 Yes I get that, maybe give Rehan a go next test I think for Bashir who'll probably be tired, remember he hasn't played a lot of first class cricket so he needs rest.
Really great contribution from Atherton there
😂
He was unusually quiet
Haha but still better than Gower's rambling on commentary
Gower far more interesting than Atherton
@@jakehowie442 youre on crack
You missed this record - Harry Brook is Multan's new Sultan. His 317 is the highest individual test score at this venue. He broke Sehwag's 20-year-old record of 309.
I have always enjoyed watching the English cricket team, which is my second favorite after Pakistan. Some of my all-time favorites include Graham Gooch, Alastair Cook, and now Joe Root-remarkable cricketing minds and pure players. Although we lost, we learned that it's a bold approach that ultimately leads to success. I still remember when, four years ago, the English team adopted their aggressive batting strategy. They faced a few losses initially, but in the end, their strategy proved successful. Kudos to the team managers, coaches, and planners for their efforts!
If the next two wickets are like this, will Root get another two centuries? Pushing closer to second on the all time test run scorer list.
Drop Root. He has a horrible 200 to 300 conversion rate.
Has anyone noticed that there were hardly any spectators? It's so sad when great things happen on the pitch and there is barely a response. Most county championship games manage a higher attendance than this wonderful Test Match.
Not sure how the pricing structure worked, for example in the west indies fans were priced out of going to the stadium.
@@wendykettle2461 sad site across most of test cricket.
Yeah and inevitably I always start wondering about the state of test cricket but apparently even the PSL wasn't well attended.
Put Stokes in at 3.
Thus:
1) Crawley
2) Duckett
3) Stokes
4) Root
5) Brook
6) Smith
7) Woakes
8) Atkinson
9) Carse
10) Bashir
11) Leach
Pope isn't 'dropped', per se; merely a case of 'horses for courses'. And in any case, as a journeyman, Pope will accept that there's no shame in being replaced by an England-great.
Multan is a very flat wicket so the onus is on picking the most resilient bowling attack:
i) Four seamers - Woakes, Atkinson, Carse and (possibly) Stokes
ii) Three spinners - Leach, Bashir and Root, the last having 70 test wickets, incidentally.
Ultimately, Stokes's test batting average is higher than Pope's. And he's rather more astute, too.
@robertcottam8824 I agree wirh Stokes at 3, maybe bring another seamer and spinner in? Try rehan in for Bashir and Potts in for Woakes? Makes sense to rotate a little bit considering it's the same pitch. No point playing the same 10 on the same pitch in probably the same conditions, makes sense to give someone else a go
Stokes/baz love pope. He’s going nowhere
@MichaelJordan-yy1sr I agree but pope should really be the one to miss out
England Australia India are only 3 quality test sides
An interesting observation. Well done. Award yourself a biscuit and a pat on the head.
I do believe the likes of Sri Lanka and the West Indies will start to improve pakistan can only go up from where they are now I think it will change over the next few years
South Africa is pretty strong at home
'PAT' ON A 'HEAD'??? @@robertcottam8824
South Africa are good, Sri Lanka are massively improving, and New Zealand are on the decline but decent enough
For a batter, it has to be Pope lol but it'll be for a spinner which means bashir most likely. I personally think both pope and bashir should come out for rehan and stokes and maybe even bring potts in to give one of the seamers a rest
All these records have been broken and no one has mentioned the one where 3 Yorkshire players scored a total of 741 runs in this Test Match Root 262, Brook 317, and the Yorkshire captain Masood 151 although he played for Pakistan, it must be the double OO's in their names 😁
No one outside of Yorkshire cares dude
@@sillysausage4549 Obviously you are not a true cricket supporter. I'm outside of Yorkshire
@@sillysausage4549 obviously your account name is rather apt...
Pope can go - Stokes in at 3.
I would open with Stokes and move Duckett to 3 or 4.
Why no one complaining about Pitch?
Just like the last tour there, pitches fully on the side of the batsmen. Good time to cash in and get big scores.
Because both teams played on the same pitch. One team made 800 away from home and another was bowled out - at home - for 250
If the test would have drawn, people would speculate. But England pulled off a victory what seemed to be a drawn test 2 days ago.
pitches like this once in a while - nothing wrong with it - touring teams to India over the past 5-6 years have had horrendous rank turners everytime - going the other way like this occasionally is ok
@@321Adi123 fair point. The real complaints will begin when the 2nd and 3rd test pitches are concrete too.
I think Pakistan generally tailor pitches to help them against India, because they hate each other. So Pakistan's dustbowls are in stark contrast to India's turning nightmares.
Can’t understand why Pakistan prepared a pitch like this. You just can’t prepare a road against a bludgeoning batting lineup like England and expect something positive
I think they've lost their last 5 including 2 vs the Banglas. They were probably desperate for a draw and didn't think there was much chance of a result. If they hadn't collapsed to 80/6 yesterday for no apparent reason they'd probably have got one.
Just naturally what pakistan pitches are like as well, they should have done more for the bowlers but they are limited by the environment. It's India that traditionaly spins sideways.
Skill issue @@kash_money2397
This same England team were forced to play at 1 RPO in one of the test in India and overall India scored at a much higher RR than England. So England basically played against a club level team 😂
I can't wait for the Ashes series in Australia. This England team with good batting and bowling attack will give a tough competition to Australia.
Don't let this win fool you. It's against a team who got whitewashed by BAN at home and losing to USA in world cups. Aus is a totally different challenge, I still expect Aus to completely smash Eng 4-0 or 4-1.
Make no mistake, the Aussie cricket team and Australian crowds are going to be so hostile to the Poms. Remember the treatment in the Long Room
@@person5543 i know Pakistan has been very bad from the last two years but this England side that will tour Australia for Ashes is the best side compared to the last decade sides that toured there. I think this side can give Australia a good fight.
@@Shoaiblone50 saw how grt ENG baz team is when they toured INDIA...they got a reality check..4-1 is too big a margin
@@Shoaiblone50 this team isn't as good as the side which beat australia down under in 2010/11
Nasser excellent throughout this test... especially on Joe's greatest quality!
Also Stokes for Pope is not a tricky one at all 😂
If Eng plays 5 test matches with PAK they will reach WTC table top...🤣
Never change a winning team.
Ather's Appearance has changed a lot since I last saw him.
England is a very good team under the captaincy of stokes and coach brendan mccullum.
Superb synopsis from Nasser😊
2:56 🤣 batsman only
The playing XI should be
Crawley
Duckett
Pope
Root
Brook
Stokes
Jamie
Woakes
Atkinson
Rehan
Leach
If they are ruthless then England should drop Pope and Stokes bat 3.
This England team when toured last year lost badly to India 4-1...They were strongly criticized for bazeball cricket which made them to lose the test series. Now they are successful against PAK.
Whats bazeball?
Everyone is successful against Pakistan! Impressive victory nonetheless
@@DharshikaandFriends5882 tbh baz ball overall I'd say has been very effective for over a year now. We have new pace attack and young team so next time we tour India it'll be closer series I believe.
@@thew4rrior5codeIt was close fight though, if anyone followed it closely then you know if root played sensibly as he played in last 2 tests then they could have got better result, despite having that fluke win in first test😂😂. Where pope played a once in a life knock.
Ha ha I think you forgot hammering Yashasvi gave to your Jimmy Anderson at Rajkot 666😂@@thew4rrior5code
Whatever happened to Haseeb Hameed ?
He had a good season actually
great Test, amazing result!
I agree with kamran bhai. why pak analysts keep bringing board, selectors, coaches etc. but players are same and they are playing miserable. pak team team losing all games. but players are same.
Apart from India & Australia, England have always done well abroad.
England have won in both India and Australia more recently than in the West Indies.
The last sort of pitch you want to be playing against this Bazball side is a road.
Would they drop Smith and give Pope the gloves? Tough one. Think they need Bashir. Of course Root could bowl his overs. Wouldn’t put it past Stokes to bowl spin either
Pakistan shouldn't be playing test cricket, they are not even good enough to be a "C team" for countries like Australia, England or India.
They were No 1 in the world 8 years ago after beating both England and Australia? The Windies and Zimbabwe have a way worse record in recent history and still - periodically - bring competitive tests especially at home.
At home they've been bad, but they still put on a decent fight away from home
Was bazball a thing in this test match?
Maybe, maybe not but they still scored at pretty much 5 an over which is high for Test Cricket
Yea. If there scored at normal test match rate they wouldn’t have had time to win
If England had won the last test against SL would they be still in contention for top 2 in WTC or they have 0% chance?
Depending on how ind v aus goes, England still have a chance if they win all their games, but yes, winning that last game would’ve guaranteed englands spot
How can Gillespie be a coach and not be part of the selection comitee
Stokes for Woakes but not Foakes
What's use , England can't play WTC 😂
Batting at 5.5 gives any side doing so a chance of winning after the first innings. Even if England had been 150 behind of first they still could have gone on to win. With 5.5 the old assumptions of TMC die along with it and 5 full days suddenly seems like a very long time. Even the Pakistanis scored quickly by traditional standards. Potentiality at this rate there could have been over 2300 runs in the game, and average of over 600 per innings. This brings batting back into the game whereas only bowlers used to win test matches. They still will, of course but the age of the fast scoring batsmen may have finally left the T-20 stable and arrived at the TMC arena. We can but hope. If batsmen stopped playing like Boycott and captains stopped prioritising not losing, flatter pitches may be the way to go? What could have very well turned out to be one the most boring Bore Draws ever to have been played, turned out to be anything but. Draws can still be great, but not if it already looks like one after the first day and a half.
Award yourself a gold star for, 'Perseverance in the Face of Partial-literacy'.
Toot toot!
With all my due rsepect to Ben, at this rate, Ben is likely to lose his spot in Test cricket. England looks a more balanced and prepared side as opposed to one led by Ben. It is England selectors' choice now to decide if they would like to disturb this balance and try out fitting Ben in with the other lads. The option is to keep Ben in the 15 but not the 11 unless required. This is my two cents.
Have you ever played cricket, poppet? That's my tuppence.
Pip pip.
Stokes plays when he’s fit regardless. Like Buttler in ODIs. Pope probably gets the chop if stokes isn’t bowling. Pope has natural talent in spades but apart from his innings in India he’s been underwhelming and hasn’t lived up to the hype. He’d benefit from time away since he needs it. On one of the best batting wickets in history you can’t get a duck like he did.
Pope is a better batter than stokes on current form that is . Might want to play w the same team
Batsman
thats a lie
pak is killing test cricket by creating roads ,they have fear of losing ,that's why no assistance to bowler and at the end pak caption blamed their bowlers
An interesting bouillabaisse of phonemes.
Well done.
Award yourself a chapatti and a condescending pat on the head.
Nice lad but Pope is not at the level for me
Drop J Smith, WK will be Pope
Stokes will play at No. 3
Pope will at 6
leave stokes out and smith is in good form and a better wicket keeper than pope.
pope is not a good wicket keeper smith is,also smith id say will be a better batsman than pope also who imo is rubbish, pakistan will prepare a more friendly pitch keep bashir bring in stokes.
Nasser is dreaming of England getting beyond 500 in australia 😂😂. Can't see that happening more than once in the upcoming 5 match ashes series against a deadly Aussie attack
Look at what we scored in 10/11.
@@Richard-d1y that's 15 years back dude. I watched that series with KP and strass scoring hundreds and double hundreds at will. Even trott scored 2 hundreds I guess . Talk about this England batting line-up against the Aussie bowlers. Speak reality 😄

Stokes for Bashir
If Stokes is not fit enough to play as all rounder then how does he constantly get in? I like the set up of the top order..Crawley,Duckett,Pope,Root,Brook,then Smith. I would then have Carse and Leach. The other 3..anyone's guess
Pope he rarely bats a good innings
The pitches over there are always ridiculous, they may aswell be concrete! Just boring cricket!
This test was boring for you???
@@Richard-d1y Anything that's one sided and predictable is boring and from the time England reached about 200 Pakistan had thrown the towel in completely so from that point on there wasn't much to see. Obviously for England fans it was enjoyable and entertaining but if you're a neutral record totals set against second rate bowling on a road don't really get the pulse racing. All of which sounds like I'm cribbing England. I'm really not they were ruthlessly efficient and Joe Root is the best player in terms of consistency I've seen in nearly 50 years of watching Test Cricket it's just the gap between the big 3 and the rest is so big now that tests where those 3 play the others just feel like warm up games.
@edmoss7952 So you didn't enjoy watching the fourth highest test total in history scored at 5.5 an over? OK! Tough crowd! I enjoyed a lot.

Come to India to play real test
As a cricket 'fan', touring India is great. In fact, it's my second favourite country to visit - ahead of New Zealand and The West Indies; (I've never been to Sri Lanka, unfortunately) - and MILES ahead of Australia and South Africa...
But Pakistan is the best place to watch test cricket, as an 'away' fan. I first went there (as a teenager) in '77-'78 and have been back three times since. Each visit was an absolute pleasure. Been on three tours to India, beginning in '84-'85, too. And I enjoyed each one, too.
What shades it, for me though, is the people of Pakistan - their hospitality and sheer love of cricket, whether in victory or defeat. Sindhis, Punjabis, Pakhtuns... are simply marvellous people.
And of all the 'historically significant'' cities that I've ever visited, LAHORE makes my top five - along with Naples, Paris, London and Ghent. I love Calcutta/Kolkata* as well - don't get me wrong - but no cricketing venue compares with the vibrancy, culture, 'joie de vivre' of Lahore; a cricket fan's paradise.
Best wishes.
*Forgive me for waxing less lyrically about Delhi, Bombay/Mumbai, and Madras/Chennai... Let's face it, they're sh*th*l*s.
