One thing I've asked about that none of the psychiatrists know about is the really pleasant brain tingling I get when I'm euphoric, music always makes me feel amazing and so tingly it's awesome too

Though I'm not sure if this is part of bipolar or something different, though it's helped me get through life, and live still now

Paul Flint I think it might be part of bipolar. I have bipolar 1 and I really loved that feeling when I was manic. Actually ever since the manic episode, I still get tingles or rushes of energy, but it gets stuck in my root or sacral chakra, rather than going all the way up through the crown. Also, did colors become brighter and everything get sparkly? That was my experience.

I get those tingles too, especially while listening to emotional music. I think it's called ASMR, but I don't know if it's related to bipolar or not.

I've never had that. maybe it is an ASMR thing.

Yes, I am an educated normal person with a daughter in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia with Bipolar Disorder. I never knew anything about this disorder until I started reading about it. I was frantic to understand why my daughter was acting and talking so strange and her feeling chronically depressed and with anxiety. And then the strange highs of mania and being very creative and yet she is incapable of holding a job as a normal person. My reason for writing this is because I am a frantic father that is trying to make some sort of logical sense of everything with my daughter. And the pushing me out of her life. So when I watch this man speak , it irritates me to the point of no return when people that are educated at university just ramble on and on with their jargon and can't just explain in layman's terms about bipolar without dragging on and on with what seems like incoherent bullshit. I hate the the way doctors and educated nerds just can't be very blunt and straight to the point. It's like, I am sitting here listening to this guy speak but he is not giving me any definitive answers of how I can understand what is happening with my daughter. These educated intellectuals just seem seem to babble on and on and there speech on the subject just gets so fu$%king tedious. I just hate the the way educated people speak. I just want the facts and how to deal with this disorder, not some hour long drawn load of medical bullshit about it.

Sorry you are dealing with this. I highly recommend that you check out Dr. Patrick McKeon's lectures here on RUclips. He is an Irish psychiatrist who seems to specialize in bipolar. He is an excellent speaker, has a nice voice and his lectures are geared toward the layman.

Thanks I have been diagnosed as Schizophrenic the bipolar in 2008 as I had a very severe manic episode, now my psychiatrist says I have Schizoaffective disorder , I know that myself it is Bipolar 1 disorder, I have had severe depression with psychosis, and one manic episode I was hospitalised for in 2008 I believed I could control where the birds flew in the sky and I could send my feelings of love into animals etc. I thought I was Jesus and sometimes thought the end of the world was coming soon, I also thought I was evil sometimes it was a crazy year, since then I've suffered terrible anxiety attacks nd depression, been suicidal to the point of despair, I'm better now thanks . Glad to see this video

I have bipolar 1, I take a mood stabilizer that works well, but something that I've started to notice in recent years is that I sometimes get what feels like a hypomanic rush but it only lasts for a few minutes. It's random because when I had severe manic episodes it lasted for many weeks. It's not a problem it's just quite random because it seems to go against the textbook.

Paul Flint I know exactly what you mean. It tingles when I am manic also. It seems like as my moods change the feeling goes from a tingle to a pressure and i can feel it move around to different areas of my brain. It is good to find out that i am not the only one

I wonder if bipolars can also be sensitive to endorphines? As a bipolar myself I notice that sometimes after I exercise I get into a hypomanic state, thus not just the pleasant energy you usually get after a nice jog.
