I’ve done this for a few months now this year. Only difference is I usually put my mid read in the deep third and have deep in knockout on them. Might shade him one way or other a bit but that protects the seams well. Has totally transformed defense/ win rate and I run it with shading/ drop adjustments on 80% of play calls. Goose, I don’t run it with match usually but do you ever notice random coverage breakdowns in match on the Tampa 3? I occasionally throw in some cov 4 match to mix up but not in the Tampa 3

just tried this in H2H and its really good pass defense but you gotta be really good at usering the run game and plugging up that hole and hitting em with a user cut stick

I was trying this out with KC and was finding it hard to assign all the players before the snap. Any tips?

Going raw no abilities in legend rating is insane. I’m currently in MVP and it’s all combine theme teams in dollar cover 4 with all deep blues with deep ko and all hard flat or purples with flat zone ko or mid zone. In short you’re insane

Great content! Curious, how do handle the run when usering the LB? I get caught up in the wash sometimes which gives up the run.
Inside stuff and no outsider abilities on your dline.
they need to do something about the coding of depth and pass trajectory. you user was on the 3 yard line and he picks a throw to the back of the end zone lmao
That’s why this game is not to be taken serious on any level. I’m really good at madden but the game is trash. I will continue to play but the coding is bad and there are so many defensive concepts missing, it’s insane. This isn’t football.

@@b2wavy510 oh for sure. I still upload videos and play money games sometimes. In my opinion madden used to be a great game. I still hold out hope that it will get back to what it was. Maybe I’m delusional. I’m never going to stop playing. Just wish it wasn’t so much of an arcade feel to it and more of an actual football game.
Im gonna try this. I run something similar out of nickel over wide where i take the mid read lineback and put him on a deep 3rd when i run tampa 2 and then i user my slot CB

Those cloud zones drops are set at what depth? Did you say 30 yard clouds? The flats look very open, might be smart to set curl flats to 5 and play the flat or man the rb with the flat defender

So what player archetypes should go where? Like should a small but really fast corner that can't tackle go in the slot since they will cover deep and have to sprint back? Or do you still want big nickels that can tackle but are slower?

Been running this accidentally when I get into my 2 shell too quickly lmao
Why do the icons shift sometimes? It messes me up when my safety goes from like X to R1 randomly in the same position. Slows down my adjustments.
One take away from this video for me. Is I have been cluelessly picking a defense and changing it before I can even know what my opponent likes to do.
Which brings me to lesson number 8: see what your opponent is doing before making any adjustments.
This is a really good play to run this without adjustments run cover 2 sink but dont user the linebacker he gets 25-30 yards down field

You should do a video testing zone KOs. I run some of my corners with mid zone KO instead of pick artist but I’ve noticed when they’re in a purple zone or even a hard flat they’ll get consistent interceptions. I’m starting to believe that as long as you get the light up and they’re under the ball they’ll get the pick anyways.
That's interesting, I haven't heard of that before. Abilities testing is a little bit niche (a lot of people hate the ideas of abilities entirely), but I'm going to write that idea down and take a closer look when I find some time!
@@SpruceGooseTV I understand, I just haven’t seen anyone talking about it when atleast in my experience it’s been a major game changer of how I set up my defense when it comes to spending AP and which cards I even buy.

Am I doing something wrong or is your backup SS playing FS and statting SS is at slot corner? Is there a way around this or is it all just manually subbing players?
I think any mesh concept kills this defense but I’ll definitely be giving it a try

@@itztrent4419 to be completely honest no hate or joking intended…. It’s trash lol. Mesh concepts absolutely destroy it as I thought. Horrible run against the run because you’re automatically taking a someone out the play by making them cover deep and too many presnap adjustments to be effective. I also main the eagles so it’s not like my team was just trash. However it does work against the corner routes and filling the gap in the deep middle against streaks. But too situational for me.
Hey man, just a quick question, wouldn’t this be similar to a standard Tampa 2 just with the middle read turned into a deep middle third?
Two differences - 1) The obvious difference is the safeties in the outside thirds, 2) the less obvious difference is that if you put one of your LBs on the middle third, he will backpedal slowly at the snap and can get beat deep up the middle pretty easily. The slot CB on the middle third instantly sprints back and gets into position much faster

I mean this with no disrespect but I’ve been doing this since madden 18. Of you really wanna fuck with ppl on the wide side of the field have both a purple and and blue aka double Maple coverage with zone drops and u can cook soo many ppl. Especially with abilities. You can also blitz the slot corner and with proper D like set up it’s db fire outta big nickel over G. Gr8 formation and great video.
Are you using a TE as your MLB?
So in order to generate pressure from Over G is just to pinch the line?
Even without pinching the line it can get solid pressure, but pinching the line seems to be the best, and also makes it tougher for the QB to step up and scramble up the middle

Hi i’m trying to run this, but my nickel/slot CB is my strong safety safety and if i try to change to package i no longer get the correct zone adjustments. Is there anyway to accomplish this coverage with my slot corner as the nickel?

If I put mid Zone KO on outside. Well it cover any 10 to 20 yard stuff or do I need flat zone KOs?
Mid Zone KO will force knockouts 10-20 yards deep outside the numbers and 0-20 yards deep inside the numbers. Flat Zone KO will force knockouts 0-10 yards deep and outside the numbers.
Why not shade down then up to change the curl flats in a normal cover three to cloud flats?
It's addressed in the video - you can't guard a streak/corner route combo with that setup

Saw you switching the ball as you scrambled. Ik it makes u faster but witg qb doesn’t make you fumble easy?
Which play? It may have been the game making the player animate to do that (they'll naturally carry the ball on the outside) but I never do it intentionally. Also, switching the ball doesn't make you run any faster, it's just a myth. If anything though, it would help against fumbling because it's really the "cover ball" button that people are spamming.

So I use big nickel all the time I have a question about the cloud flats do I put them on 30 or leave them in default
I would keep them on default unless you need to take away a deep corner route

Literally the best defense in madden ngl
Despite what he says, the deep middle is open - you just need speed in the slot position and make a better throw. You can dink and dunk and run on this defense all day as well.
Literally every defense has a weakness but that doesn’t mean it’s bad overall
