Saffron quality is not just about the colour. actually the right way is to brew it with ice instead of hot water, it takes longer, there are videos on RUclips that shows how to do it in RUclips. One thing about the Spanish saffron you can notice is the tip goes white on some of them shortly after they mixed with water which is indicative of lower quality compare with the other two. One more tip, better to ground the saffron before brewing with ice/hot water, sugar cube also helps grinding it to very fine particles.
Unfortunately, Iranian farmers have sold their saffron in very chip price annually to Spanish companies at least since couple decades ago because corruption of the present dictatorial unpopular anti-national regime in Iran. The Iranian farmers unfortunately have not any other choice because the regime haven't supported them in packaging and export processes financially and politically. Therefore, most of Spanish saffrons are also Iranian saffrons actually but Spanish companies have only packaged it under name of Spanish saffron. The product is Iranian but Spanish companies have benefited greatly from it. its not about the intensity of the color. the original n high quality saffron emits aroma n takes time to show its color and the strands should floating above
its like putting a tea bag in a kettle and boil to make tea. safron needs to be ground and tgen imposed with temperature shock. whether its ice or hot water. eitherway ur method may not be the most effective
Wait, Spain grow saffron? Im pretty sure they buy it from Iran and Morocco and rebrand it. Edit: Apparently many countries also buy then rebrand saffron (Uae too). Some claim that 90%, if not more, of the saffron produced is Iranian
@@lefty1188 90% of Spanish saffron is Iranian, don't kid urself. Spain's climate is barley adequate for growing saffron, the industry was desperate to make it a major export so they rebrand and upscale lower quality iranian saffron. That's why iranian saffron has such a bad reputation in Spain, because Iranian farmers aren't selling their high quality saffron to the Spanish industry. Spain does have some amazing saffron, but not enough to make it an international export. The Spanish should just enjoy their saffron locally instead of ripping off impoverished farmers in iran to try and benefit from an international market
