    Daren was the reason Holly Chedester left the show. And it screwed us all out of what would have been a great evolution of Holly starting off knowing very little about restoration to... who knows how she might have evolved. I would have MUCH preferred watching Holly and Alyssa doing actual car stuff rather than the first few seasons of nearly-unwatchable drama.

    I remember I worked with this one man here in Melbourne australia and he was rebuilding a xy ute and was doing a ground up rebuild on a rotisserie anyways he would talk about all these part numbers and how he drove across Melbourne just to get some bolts that had some number on them and even talked about how he changed the engine from 6cyl to v8 and the flywall provisions were there, so listening to this guy on the show just tells me he knows everything about his cars, every little part number

    • @patrickwayne3701
      @patrickwayne3701 2 года назад +2

      @@rapidtransit8373 ABSOLUTELY agree 100% There's a trend with guys like Mark and Tony D.
      If THEY are buying it from YOU, it's worth nothing,,, if YOU are buying from THEM, well, it must be gold plated.
      There's a guy in Utah that can speak to this phenomenon with Mark, just as I can with Tony DiAgostino who wanted me to sell him my very perfect 68 Hemi Dual Quad intake manifold for 200.00 at the Hillyard Ohio swapmeet. I had 500.00 on it. And really, didn't want to sell it but needed the money.
      DiAgostino was shytty with me about taking less for the manifold and considering his tendency to jack prices up on everyone else, I didn't want to sell it to him at all. So, a guy that all of us in the hobby know as 'Jerry the old man' came by and asked what Tony was being a jerk about,, my buddy, Paul Wilson, told Jerry the turns of events,,, and he said if Tony had been so persistent it was because he really wanted it.
      So, Jerry gave me 500 for it, and he told Tony he needed 800 for it, when Tony came back around and saw it was gone off my table.
      Tony got all blustery and cussing, but then he shelled out 750 to Jerry and Jerry took it, winking at me and Paul.
      Paul got to laughing out loud which pissed Tony off that much more. Later that afternoon, Tony had my intake laying out on HIS table for 1500.00. That's just the way those guys are.
      So, Darren can probably tell basketloads of the SAME kinda stories on Mark. Those guys that have to be the big cheese are all the same.
      I don't begrudge Tony or Mark their successes,,, but neither one of them will ever get a chance to buy my SuperBird or my Bobby Issac's K&K Insurance Hemi Nascar #71 Charger. They've made their place in the scheme of things. And I won't contribute to their kind of 'look at me' business practices. It's a shame Worman gets off on rubbing Darren's name around even after he's been gone. Tells you allot about what his 'code' really is.

Sadly, even those memories are markers of times VERY long gone in this modern age of preying on children and grifting old people out of their savings. The carpetbaggers and grifters have always been there trying to cheat regular people, no matter what the goods in question might be.
      I adored my Grandparents on both sides and I have collected all their former cars as a way to keep them alive in my heart... when I am gone,,, I am sure Worman and Tony will be all about trying to lie my family members out of my SuperBird or my Bobby Issac's Hemi Charger NASCAR,,, but they will not be successful.

No question that a motivated tech could learn an incredible amount even in that time but Mark just has to grind people down over time, even if some of his antics are purely for the 'drama'. Will Scott seems to be able to thrust and parry when needed but I'm sure there are days when he just wants to lock that paint booth and avoid Mark entirely. I'm not surprised that Dave Rea left to start his own resto business - that guy was a real asset Anyone can bolt a car back together given enough time but how many of us have had to assemble an air grabber hood or a convertible top mechanism ? Both of them have deep psychological issues. I believe they were "acting" in front of the camera and took advantage of making "drama" for TV and got carried away. They used to be friends, according to the dialogue and have known each other for a long time but one thing lead to another and one got feed up and left the show, ( fired or quit, who really knows). But it's probably a long friendship that is no more....

    This was a "richard" move by Mark, stripping the guy's car of hard to find parts. I don't care if Darren was a jerk or not, it's his car not Mark's. Mark has that sense of entitlement that he deserves the part more than Darren because Darren isn't doing anything with his car right now. This turned me off and I really haven't watched the show because of Mark's childish attitude.

It's a big big deal. And Darren was justified in being opposed to the original parts that made up his car being taken away, rendering his car, a made up 'tribute car' with a bunch of repro parts on it.

    It's a STRANGE trace to understand the 'Yellow Jacket' to 'Diamonte' proto-car chronology...let alone, figure out if it is the 'same car' or not...the story on the Yellow Jacket is that it was a 69 Road Runner (at it's base)...and on first-glance, it 'transitioned' (due to Dodge, paint issues and a desire to 'fix it' using a customs shop that the owner 'hated the color white') to the 'Diamonte'...but...if you look at the 'Yellow Jacket' then the 'Diamonte', they appear to be TOTALLY DIFFERENT CARS! In fact, the 'Diamonte' is actually billed as a ''69 (a custom Road Runner shortened about 16-inches), while the 'Yellow Jacket' appears to be a 'B' Body (Challenger/Cuda) base-car! One has a 'half-windshield' (the 'Bat-Dodge-Mobile'), while the other is a Targa-top. Even the Dodge Wiki isn't fully clear on the whole 'this became that, then modified, turned into that'...all the literature focuses on the colors...and really strange, but the 'Diamonte' was supposed to have been BLACK originally...strange again, that Dodge would build a 'prototype', but do it using an existing painted car, instead of starting with 'unpainted metal'....

    • @skeetersaurus6249
      @skeetersaurus6249 2 года назад

      Oh, yeah...and if you hunt for it now...it is again, strangely listed as a '1971 Diamonte'...HAVE NO IDEA how they pulled this off either, since the car was built and titled as a '69 by that time!

    IIRC, Darren stored his car on Mark's property inside and then outside for years. Sure, Mark was doing his friend a favor, but at some point Darren owes him for that. I have no idea what arraignment they had setup but obviously there was some kind of verbal agreement that eventually went sour.
    All said and done, if you own a 6 figure muscle car its kind of on you to take care of it. If things were not working out with Mark, then he should have flat bedded his car to somewhere else. He could rent a storage for probably about 100 bucks a month to store the car in. Problem solved. Instead he leaves it on the lot and the friction just grows.

    Idk, that burnt orange challenger was clean. They are only original once and to expect a 50 year old car to look new is just dumb. I think the real reason it got restored is, its easy money for Mark. If he don't restore it he loses money. To me a clean all original car is super cool, plus you can drive it without devaluing your 50k resto job, then when you are done having fun, restore it or sell it as is. It honestly has more value not being restored because what you see is what you get. When they get restored a lot can be hidden.

    That's too bad. When people talk to themselves, they may be working problems out in their minds and speaking them out loud. This is also known as “self-explaining.” Talking out loud helps people work through their thoughts.
    This is a healthy problem-solving tactic. There have been studies that show when people talk through what they’ve just experienced, they’re more likely to learn from it and understand it.
    I think everyone on the show has something going on personally. For instance, highly intelligent people like Mark with an unusually high IQ have a tendency to get frustrated around people like Daren.
    Obsessive compulsiveness is paired up with obsessive impulsiveness. I get it, and everyone needs to stay on track but this is a treatable condition and I think Daren would do well on adderal.
