rehashed video and subject but on topic...fuck that...if someone took a part off one of Marks cars without permission or notifying him he'd have a stroke...but somehow seems to think it's ok to wink at the camera and strip someone elses
Mark may know what goes where but as a human being he's a low life! Like you said do that to his cars and he would have had a stroke after throwing a fit on the floor. If he took parts off my car he'd never do it again because it's hard to do without fingers! Lol

Other than family members, esp one as easy going as cousin Dougie, I'm not sure how anyone can work with Mark for more than 6 or so months. No question that a motivated tech could learn an incredible amount even in that time but Mark just has to grind people down over time, even if some of his antics are purely for the 'drama'. Will Scott seems to be able to thrust and parry when needed but I'm sure there are days when he just wants to lock that paint booth and avoid Mark entirely. I'm not surprised that Dave Rea left to start his own resto business - that guy was a real asset Anyone can bolt a car back together given enough time but how many of us have had to assemble an air grabber hood or a convertible top mechanism ? He also knew how to handle Mark - sadly missed.
Restoring the Survivor is a Sin....10 years later what was a "tough decision" is now "tough to explain". The car was devalued and the world has one less survivor Hemi Challenger and another cookie cutter restoration
@@kabbey30 you think Mark paid Darren so much that he wasn't benefitting from Darren's Mopar specific knowledge as a worker there? Would have loved to see him tell him he’s fired and not to come back! That would have made everyone happy as Darren was a total idiot in every series he was on
Hey Mark Rudy here from North Jersey. Just spoke with Tony D and he asked me to pass this message on to you : About the FK5 challenger R,/T SE... The white stripes are latitudinal or horizontal, NOT longitudinal. 😎
The show has gotten away from its original idea. They rarely show anything about cars, it's all about Mark wanting his own 1970's sitcom, which is far from funny
I watched this with Darren years ago .I figure there was a lot of the argument just for show. But Mark STEALING Darrens car parts, off of his very valuable classic muscle car was enough to justify a lot of anger on Darrens part. And then in the end Mark screws him out of his car for peanuts.
@@chuckythedoll4815 I specifically remember an episode where Mark sent Josh over the Daren's house to retrieve a part from the car which was in Daren's garage.
Yeah this is very true. Never touch or take anything from something you do not own. With that said, wasn't there an episode where Mark rebuilt Darren's car? I swear i remember seeing an episode like that. If i remember correctly was the work done for free, or really close to?

This really makes Mark seem like a weasel. Seeing stuff like that happen makes me not want to trust him and want to avoid him like the plague. Mark took who knows how many parts off his "friends" car. With a friend like that, who needs enemies?
Basically in getting things done and accomplished, Mark was always interested in cracking the whip but Darren was always interested in whipping the crack.
Mark personality is someone who thinks he is funny. The guy is smart but fails to realize that his stupid antics are annoying. He acts like he some car god but isn't because others do the work. No wonder why the one guy left. Probably had enough of Mark's rude attitude.
Personality enough to get a TV show.. a hugely successful one at that, along with a thriving business.. I'll guarantee you that NO ONE cares if you think he's funny or not.. lol.. He's doing far better than you are.. so..
Both of them have deep psychological issues. I believe they were "acting" in front of the camera and took advantage of making "drama" for TV and got carried away. They used to be friends, according to the dialogue and have known each other for a long time but one thing lead to another and one got feed up and left the show, ( fired or quit, who really knows). But it's probably a long friendship that is no more....
This was a "richard" move by Mark, stripping the guy's car of hard to find parts. I don't care if Darren was a jerk or not, it's his car not Mark's. Mark has that sense of entitlement that he deserves the part more than Darren because Darren isn't doing anything with his car right now. This turned me off and I really haven't watched the show because of Mark's childish attitude.
I agree, Mark has no right to remove parts from another persons property without their consent. Mark would/should be considered a workforce "bully"! His disrespect for his employees is atrocious! This is reinforced by the fact that his closest family employees have left the business. Hello Mark, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee burning!
Memories of riding and sometimes driving my sisters friends cars. Some of her few boyfriends let me drive them. I love the '71 Cudas. Miss the days of being deafened at times in an open carport as the engine roared. My hair being blown back by the carburetor.
Mark is still beating around the bush but I think Darien was fired because he was a butt head in general. You'll never get Mark to tell you the whole truth because he is just as bad as a politician we know who lies all the time to make himself look good.
Love the cars ....but this channel has become a sad sitcom , more focus on drama than the cars , take out the foolish drama and you have 20 mins of video worth watching , you focus on the WRONG things ...so very sad
Mark, Mark, Mark. You still make a living, so enough with the schmaltz, my friend. Am confident that getting rid of Daren was the safest for you and your staff.
I can't believe you even hired that guy let alone worked on this car I would have gave him back his parts and kicked him out of the shop useless Batman would have never finished that car on his own there's a difference between knowing how to do something actually being able to put your knowledge to your hands that man cannot put the knowledge to his hands he's only working with a half a deck I'm glad you fired him or at least got rid of them or whatever you did with him cuz the guy was completely useless
That smaller formal window on the Challenger, you know with the vinyl top, and the chrome trim, that's made to look like a convertible. That's why they did that.
How do I know this, you may ask? It's because I was alive when this car was made, that's why. I was around when you saw these on every street corner. You know what else I used to see a lot of? Dodge Demons. For real those duster body demon, with the little guy with the Pitchfork on the back oh, those things were everywhere. I love that car. Right now I have an Arizona car it's a gold duster with 70,000 original miles,og paint, og interior, OG 318. it's like a off yellow beige with gold interior. The car is so original and has the original yellow paint in the trunk under the floor no rust anywhere. not a bit.
Mark loves to joke unless the joke is on him. He thought that Daren got the best of him & Mark wanted to be the 'star'. Daren was a good QA person to have around.
@@bradstephens4268 because he's entitlement minded. He thinks that because he's the boss and ultimately, he's paying the rent/mortgage payments,,, he is justified because the car is 'on his property' entitling him to take parts from it, but a guy named Ken Mosier was doing stuff like that in Indianapolis and he got sued and lost to several customers he ripped off by taking their original parts from their cars while he had them in his shop. It's a big big deal. And Darren was justified in being opposed to the original parts that made up his car being taken away, rendering his car, a made up 'tribute car' with a bunch of repro parts on it. Guys like Worman doing that and broadcasting it, should give ANYONE pause about taking anything truly original to their shop for fear of the same thing happening to their own vehicle.
From what it seems on TV compared to what actually happened... we shall never know.. Mark's story will differ from Darren's. But unles Darren paid Mark up front to help restore his Challenger. But if Darren just stored it and didn't pay for lot space etc etc as a Mechanic Mark can place a Mechanics lean on the car in a way.
That's why you never get involved with grifters. They recognize you have something they can turn a buck on, you and your friendship are completely disposable.
Hard to believe they made all those subtle little trim variations that most people wouldn't even notice. Had to be a big expense for tooling. Makes no sense to me. I always liked plain, no trim Mopar's with just a stripe or accent decal better.
It's a STRANGE trace to understand the 'Yellow Jacket' to 'Diamonte' proto-car chronology...let alone, figure out if it is the 'same car' or not...the story on the Yellow Jacket is that it was a 69 Road Runner (at it's base)...and on first-glance, it 'transitioned' (due to Dodge, paint issues and a desire to 'fix it' using a customs shop that the owner 'hated the color white') to the 'Diamonte'...but...if you look at the 'Yellow Jacket' then the 'Diamonte', they appear to be TOTALLY DIFFERENT CARS! In fact, the 'Diamonte' is actually billed as a ''69 (a custom Road Runner shortened about 16-inches), while the 'Yellow Jacket' appears to be a 'B' Body (Challenger/Cuda) base-car! One has a 'half-windshield' (the 'Bat-Dodge-Mobile'), while the other is a Targa-top. Even the Dodge Wiki isn't fully clear on the whole 'this became that, then modified, turned into that'...all the literature focuses on the colors...and really strange, but the 'Diamonte' was supposed to have been BLACK originally...strange again, that Dodge would build a 'prototype', but do it using an existing painted car, instead of starting with 'unpainted metal'....
Oh, yeah...and if you hunt for it now...it is again, strangely listed as a '1971 Diamonte'...HAVE NO IDEA how they pulled this off either, since the car was built and titled as a '69 by that time!
IIRC, Darren stored his car on Mark's property inside and then outside for years. Sure, Mark was doing his friend a favor, but at some point Darren owes him for that. I have no idea what arraignment they had setup but obviously there was some kind of verbal agreement that eventually went sour. All said and done, if you own a 6 figure muscle car its kind of on you to take care of it. If things were not working out with Mark, then he should have flat bedded his car to somewhere else. He could rent a storage for probably about 100 bucks a month to store the car in. Problem solved. Instead he leaves it on the lot and the friction just grows.
Idk, that burnt orange challenger was clean. They are only original once and to expect a 50 year old car to look new is just dumb. I think the real reason it got restored is, its easy money for Mark. If he don't restore it he loses money. To me a clean all original car is super cool, plus you can drive it without devaluing your 50k resto job, then when you are done having fun, restore it or sell it as is. It honestly has more value not being restored because what you see is what you get. When they get restored a lot can be hidden.
Come on,just stop with the clickbait and rebranding of the same old videos you already put out. The show was interesting enough without having to do all that bs.
"I made the mistake of complimenting him." That was no compliment. You compliment someone by saying,"that is a good decision" or," that is a smart move." You don't compliment someone by saying, "that is the smartest thing you've done in a long time" inferring that most of his decisions have been bad or dumb
Sounds like a bagged out stock piece of junk. Darren is one of the most unlikeable guys I've every watched. Nothing is worth having that kind of headache around. Good riddance.
Nothing instills confidence in a shop like watching videos of the owner stealing original parts off one car to make more money on another car. Wonder how many customers have had parts taken off their cars and resold and have no idea?
wish Mark and Darren with shake hands and put all the past aside and remember what good friends they were as young men.... they don't have to work together but having Darren stop by the shop and visit from time to time would be great. Mark I'm sure has more money than he can spend, and it would be cool if he built a replacement car for Darrel and give it to him on the show
That's too bad. When people talk to themselves, they may be working problems out in their minds and speaking them out loud. This is also known as “self-explaining.” Talking out loud helps people work through their thoughts. This is a healthy problem-solving tactic. There have been studies that show when people talk through what they’ve just experienced, they’re more likely to learn from it and understand it. I think everyone on the show has something going on personally. For instance, highly intelligent people like Mark with an unusually high IQ have a tendency to get frustrated around people like Daren. Obsessive compulsiveness is paired up with obsessive impulsiveness. I get it, and everyone needs to stay on track but this is a treatable condition and I think Daren would do well on adderal.
That part where he unplugged the power is beyond cringe... Seriously something a little kid does when they think they're being funny but get yelled at by mom in front of their friends. Causing chaos doesn't make good TV, it makes a sour shop.

Agreed. Guy was complete trash. One of those personalities that any man or women would just bitch slap him. Yuck, Darren made it damn near impossible to watch.
I don’t mind the show now and tune out mark antics but when it was at the beginning Darren was the reason myself and several friends said we legit watch this show for the cars and what little info mark spills that he’s clearly googled before airing. It’s hilarious how highly he thinks of himself when real guys like mike Mancini of American Muscle Car Restorations, Junior Bev @ New England Automotive Restorers “N.E.A.R” who do Oldsmobile and mopars only with some pontiac I believe, and Dave dudek in Michigan to name a few who build gold standard cars and are low key word of mouth shops with 2-3 year waits to get in. rehashed video and subject but on topic...fuck that...if someone took a part off one of Marks cars without permission or notifying him he'd have a stroke...but somehow seems to think it's ok to wink at the camera and strip someone elses

I honestly can not stand people like darren... i never liked him on the show.. I love mark..
This manufactured drama was actually kinda funny. I thought Daren was entertaining.
Same here. Seeing a opposing side of Mark was very entertaining
Well I like Darren my self I all ways thought him and mark done that just for laughs
Yeah, I always thought it was kinda staged. With a lot of these so-called reality shows, what's reality & what's B.S.?
The show has gotten away from its original idea. They rarely show anything about cars, it's all about Mark wanting his own 1970's sitcom, which is far from funny
As he presents on the show,,, and have known several through life just like him, found just to hard to even be around, imo gyc is better without him
I watched this with Darren years ago .I figure there was a lot of the argument just for show. But Mark STEALING Darrens car parts, off of his very valuable classic muscle car was enough to justify a lot of anger on Darrens part. And then in the end Mark screws him out of his car for peanuts.
If I were Daren, that car would have been at home. In a garage, where only me can work on it.
@@chuckythedoll4815 I specifically remember an episode where Mark sent Josh over the Daren's house to retrieve a part from the car which was in Daren's garage.

The best show ever made. Now look Friday nite case in point if Roayl,Darren & Josh would have been there. It would have been asom. Instead just a waste of time.
Daren needed to go , that was the best thing you could have done . I watched your videos and never saw Daren do any work , all he did is make your shop look bad .
seems to me that Mark wore him down bit by bit with the theft and playing games like evicting the car feom inside with the end game always being that he would be the one to make money off it and screw anyone else. People luke Mark, who choose money or opportunity over their friends are extremely dangerous and to be avoided at all costs.
Taking parts off someones else's car is unacceptable.
Daren got screwed lost his car
Darren deserved to get fired - I don't think I ever saw him do anything constructive on the show/.
Just remember...this is 'scripted reality'. As with many other shows, how it's edited can tell entirely different stories.
After reading many of the comments here I am seeing I'm not the only one who thinks it was wrong of mark to be taking Darren's parts off his car. Would have flipped my lid as well had someone done that to me.
My car would be on a tow truck going home, Mark would be in an ambulance going to a hospital, and I'd be in the back of a police car ...
I wonder if it went both ways over time...and Darren stole parts off Marks cars out in the lot here and there?

I am feeling you here!! I don't really care for how Darren was handled myself in this respect
Daren is a very smart guy and knows a ton about mopars
Darren is a hostile employee. He brings a lot of anger and conflict every day to work. He would be a treat to work with.

Stealing things off of someone’s car is really not cool. I don’t care who you are it’s not cute or funny, it a reason to punch someone in the mouth.
Mark was not a scapegoat, he was the head thief and bottle maker. Poor Daren 🤣

Dude literally thought this was his show? Hell no, he's not the Mopar master, Mark is.
"Why was Daren fired?"
Because it stopped him being shot by the cops.
It is beyond insane how well Mark knows his cars
Where does this explain why Daren was fired? What it does show is why Daren was so frustrated with you that he acted out all the time in frustration
Because Daren is an out-of -control lunatic.
If Darren was all that concerned about his car he would have taken it somewhere else and stored it far away from marks sticky fingers.
@@richardstoc actually that's a fair statement but my question is why does Mark think it's ok to steal?
He made the show, the banter between Mark and Darrin , worked, it was funny.
Daren is annoying his voice alone drives me nuts. Has the Chrysler starter whine to it. Lol

My memory of the day was that special editions (I remember Darts) were extra special cheap editions
Love the cars but after watching a few episodes the Mark personality gets old.

One of the best ones I have seen. laughing my a// off....
I would have fired him the first week

Sounds like a bagged out stock piece of junk. Darren is one of the most unlikeable guys I've every watched. Nothing is worth having that kind of headache around. Good riddance.
Nothing instills confidence in a shop like watching videos of the owner stealing original parts off one car to make more money on another car. Wonder how many customers have had parts taken off their cars and resold and have no idea?

That's too bad. When people talk to themselves, they may be working problems out in their minds and speaking them out loud. This is also known as “self-explaining.” Talking out loud helps people work through their thoughts.
This is a healthy problem-solving tactic. There have been studies that show when people talk through what they’ve just experienced, they’re more likely to learn from it and understand it.
I think everyone on the show has something going on personally. For instance, highly intelligent people like Mark with an unusually high IQ have a tendency to get frustrated around people like Daren.
