    You forfot something about stage 2 vs stage 3, and this is DSC off. Manual mode is really slower in dsc off in stage 2, there's a delay between shifts and in stage 3 they are instant. That's why I went stage 3. I just turned down throttle blips to minimum in settings because they were pushing the car when braking.

    Great video, but one very essential detail you missed out is that the difference in shifts between Stage 2 and Stage 3 is ONLY in Sport+ / Manual, not in Sport or Comfort, which remain the same in both stages!! This is crucial for those of us who drive predominately in Comfort and Sport and use Sport+ / M (or practically S) only when really aiming and expecting maximum performance and maximum aggressiveness!!
    Also, maybe it is something I've read but forgotten - are you suggesting in Stage 2, shifts are faster in Sport+ compared to Sport?
    Do you know for sure / can you confidently feel that? IMO they are the same (faster than in Comfort, of course).
    Apart from that - I tried both Stage 2 and Stage 3 (starting with Stage 2). To me, Stage 3 in Sport+ / Manual is not at all as jerky as some people describe it, the shifts are harder but N O T H I N G compared to e.g. M135i's stock (!) gearbox shifts in Sport, which crack your back on every shift. And since I rarely use Sport+ (and when I do - I don't mind the extra sauce) - I stayed with Stage 3, as in Comfort and Sport it is essentially Stage 2. therefore again - it is crucial to understand that Stage 2 Comfort = Stage 3 Comfort and Stage 2 Sport = Stage 3 Sport!!

    • @bsturn
      @bsturn Год назад

      Yes, I can tell you for Stage2 that shifts are faster in Sport+ than Sport (I believe the app mentions this.)
      This may depend on your iDrive settings though, for me with S2NH, I can chose whether to have dampening adjusted in Sport or Sport+ only.

      @@kern417 My bad - you do mention it there indeed, but I would have put a huge spell on it. That's the key for understanding the difference between Stage 2 and Stage 3 and for choosing a Stage. There is a common misconception that Stage 3 is "harsh" and even "dangerous" irrespective of the mode which absolutely isn't true.

    • @Y.D.43210
      @Y.D.43210 Год назад +1

      @@bsturn Not sure what M Sport Brakes (S2NH) have to do with the transmission but I get your point about manually setting Sport mode. In my case Sport is with its default settings and I am not confident the shifts with Stage 2 Sport+ are any different than in Sport. Happy to be corrected. From memory xHP only say that the drive modes control the shift speeds, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there are 4 shift speed modes - in reverse order the shifts are not any softer in EcoPro than they are in Comfort.

      @kern417  Год назад

      @@Y.D.43210 This is an overview video. The primary point is to show that one stage isn't designed for more power like engine tuning ots maps. They just enable different features in different settings. It doesn't make sense to harp on just one feature.

    I’ve got stage 3 installed and really don’t find it jerky at all. Depends on user I suppose.

    • @Y.D.43210

      Exactly my point! Stage 3 is absolutely nothing in comparison!! It must be said the M135i has a different gearbox though, not ZF, but fact remains - in Sport (out of factory) it kicks you like an angry stallion!! Stage 3 is a kitten playing in comparison... so I also don't understand what jerkiness people complain about.

      @@alexk4804 yeah but not sure how I should go about doing that. The presets don’t add the same % to each gear and if you do it wrong it can make the car really weird to drive. If you have some settings I’d love to try em! The standard xHP shiftmaps are def made for stock turbo. Adjusting a slider with a % is hard to gauge compared to just setting an rpm
      Ideally in d mode, rpm would be at like 1800 while cruising but shift down with a little gas to be in the power band more and feel less sluggish. Shifting at 3k with 25-40% throttle and higher at 4-5k above 50% throttle.
      And hold 6th and 7th gear longer so you’re not in 8th gear at 50mph. May try sportive+ instead of sportive next

      @@przemekgodzik56 depending on which hybrid mechanically they will spool different. pure800 or the smaller daw turbos can spool pretty fast while the ultra flow will spool slower. Regardless, most tuners won’t give you full boost till 3500 even if the turbo spools faster to protect the stock motor.
      I’ve driven my og pure800 car for a while and like to be in d mode comfort around town and cruising on the freeway. It’s not undriveable but changing the shift maps would greatly help. The standard stage 3 shiftmaps are a bit lazy imo

      Currently stage 1 340i rwd, im going xhp stage 2 before i get a DP. I’ll prob end up doing some suspension work and sway bars before i go stage 2. Also gotta make sure your tire setup can put that power down. So it really depends on your goals and if you’re ready for stage 2. and a stage 2 transmission tune will work fine with a stage 1 ecu tune, you shouldn’t have to worry about matching the stages. Personally I would go with xHP tune next, it’s fairly cheap and no install required. Dp is also pretty affordable and if you already have MHD license then ur good to go whenever you pop it in.

    I’ve bought an m2c with stage 1 (550hp/700nm) but I think without TCU tune. The other day went into limp mode and my transmission act weird,and had propulsor error in the dashboard and CEL. After 30mins started the car up and looked finês. Now I am wondering if it needs a TCU tune. Could it be hitting a torque limiter?

    For those of us running stock, xhp ruined my car. It took away the hard aggressive shifts of the standard factory map in Sport mode. When I then tried to revert back to factory map, it took some updated stock map from somewhere....their servers.... And not the original map from my car. So I've now forever lost the enjoyable jerky shifts in sport mode, as well as the "fart noises" on upshifts. Total disaster.
