I used to think replacing an LCD would be such a task but this video really helped me man. Was able to successfully replace mine yesterday with the help of this excellent video!
I have never done an LCD replacement on a MacBook Pro 13" A1278, your video has given me the preparation skills to take on the job. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Very much appreciated.
Followed your video step by step and replacing my granddaughter's LCD Assembly was a snap. Well, it took me an hour, but the instructions were spot on and I saved a ton. Thanks,
Greetings from Ireland. I saved hundreds by following your instructions. Surprisingly simple when you have each step so clearly explained. Many, many thanks to you. You have saved me a lot of money! Cheers!
Great video thanks ! One important detail for people needing tools for the job , on my macbook pro 13 the 3 hinge screws on each side are not T6 like you say in this demo , they are in fact T9 size . So if you buy a kit with all the sizes your fine but if your buying just that tool its a T9 , not T6 . On my macbook pro 13 A1278 2012 thats how it is anyways.
The way you can improve this video? Every tool you use....mention what tool it is. That's all. (i.e., "you'll need a #00 Phillips screwdriver", i.e. "you'll need a Torx T6 torque screwdriver.") Just whatever screw or ? that you're disconnecting, specify what tool you're using for each separation or disconnection. That way we viewers are all ready & prepared and, most importantly, will not damage anything---as we proceed by your protocol. That's the only need for improvement you might make, in my humble opinion. Thank you for showing the process overall. I can make do. I'll attend to the details as needed on my own as necessary. THANK YOU AS WELL.
They have a different LCD that is not compatible with the later models. Mid-2009 - 2012 LCDs are compatible but the wifi and camera connector is different for 2009 than for 2010-2012, so 2009 assemblies can only be used interchangeably for display purposes exclusively.
Hi I did the exact things done in this video but after I reassambled there is activity in the screen. The screen is dead. What do you think went wrong ? :)
The LVDS (LCD) connector is very fragile and might need to be reseated, make sure the keyboard cable is plugged in correctly and that the Macbook is powering on (fans spin) after pressing the power button, the power button is part of the keyboard ribbon.
I replaced the lcd assembly it turned on for a day and now it doesn’t. I hear the laptop startup but nothing on the screen but I do hear the fan go on. What may be wrong ?
I replaced my screen and the lvds cable but still getting a black screen. MacBook powers up. Not sure why it’s not going on. I hook up my projector to it and it displays that
Hello. I hope you can help me. My screen worked fine before I took off the LCD because of a noise in the plastic parts every time i close the screen; i just did that, checked the black plastic at the bottom of the screen and then i putted back on its place but then the screen is black, the brightness doesn't work, i can see the through with a lamp and i can get to my desktop but i can not get the brightness work again, do you know what can be wrong?
Yes, it's the back-light that is out. There are two variants of solutions to this issue. First is to unplug the LVDS cable (The main lcd screen cable) and plug it back in, then perform a SMC reset www.appledollars.com/reset-smc , the second solution is to replace the back light fuse that might have been damaged, we don't cover component level repairs but we can point you toward an excellent channel that does just that ruclips.net/user/rossmanngroup with a little bit of research you should find what you are looking for. Let us know if this helps.

Any way to reattach the speaker if you broke it off the motherboard?
Solder.
What cable connects the Inverter to the mobo?

I can be one of many components that have a bad connection on the board. Your best bet besides replacement is reflowing.
Great video - thank you so much!
Welcome :)

Is it possible to upgrade to a Retina display on a non-retina mbp?
no at all
Thanks!!
My Screen Flickering on boot time... After that It continue flickering as i am not able to view anything.... Should i use this method directly or ???
reset nvram
can i upgrade a non-retina macbook pro to a retina screen this way?
Negative on that. The retina models need the iris or special Nvidia graphics chip to function.
Where did you buy the replacement screen from? Link please?
Go to ebay type in:
**** macbook pro lcd screen
Substitute **** for your macbook pro year and the most popular result will be your best bet.
You the man, it worked

Anyone else have any problems reattaching the isight cable? I don't see anything for it to latch on to.
Did it! Thanks!!
Nice!
Thanks you !
Welcome!
Now, I can do for my own, save money and not taking to Mac Store to they go to fix it and that they charge me dearly. 😊
Can I replace for a retina display?
Nope, the graphics card on the logic board is what produces retina resolution in addition to the actual screen.
A bit disappointing not to show how the screen/display is being exchanged with a new one.....as kinda expected from the title
TQ
no video cpu running
Replaced LCD, won't turn on.
