The second CSX logo actually did not appear until 1986 - the first version of that logo had two lines to the right of the 'X' with the word 'TRANSPORTATION' in between them. It appeared on a handful of diesel locomotives (and in a modified version on some freight cars) before the lines and 'TRANSPORTATION' were dropped in favor of just 'CSX' in 1987.
