One of the best examples of Dynamic Music in game has to be Them's Fightin' Herds where as soon as the character select screen you get to hear each characters' Leitmotif that also plays over the base stage theme when the character is winning.

one of my favourite bits of fighting game music use is also from Xrd, with Ky. Ky normally in this game has the theme magnolia eclair, rather than the theme he had before, Holy Orders. But, if you get knocked down as Ky five or more times in a single round, Ky's hairband breaks, letting his hair down... and having Xrds version of Holy Orders kick in, completly overriding the music for the rest of the game. it has no actual effect, but god do you *feel* the comeback energy when it hits
I was devastated when Gekko didn’t include this in the video. I mean yeah Dragon Install is iconic, but the Ky theme change is just such a blindside when you first hear it. And the fact that you have less control over it triggering and it lasts the whole match takes it that much further.
All of the strive character themes fit their characters perfectly and express their personality, history AND playstyle. One of the few game osts that i listen to outside of the game.

Yakuza 5's international release did something simillar with Shinada's fight against Daigo, which played a remix of his regular battle theme, only now the goofy tones have been removed from the song and now evoke a more serious and inspirational feeling. Showing how much Shinada has grown up to this point, finally mustering the courage to take back his life.

It's never left my head since the 90s and is my pre-stream hype song. You Blow My Mind: Dudley's theme from 3rd Strike is so smooth. Just oozing style like the man himself. Classy, confident. Easily my favorite song in fighting games is Eltnum's theme Blood Drain Again from Undernight. It's crazy how different and insanely more hype it is to its original version in Melty Blood. Especially that guitar solo shakes me to the core everytime I hear it man.
I think what separates Yang's music change to others is that there's little to no condition to unlock it. Unless the entire round is played without her getting to low life, you're going to hear "I Burn" in nearly every single match with her in it. Listen, I love that theme as much as the next RWBY fan (which is a lot, btw) but when it plays in virtually every game, you tend to get sick of it fast, especially when the situation that causes said theme to play isn't really that exciting. You don't enter a cool install, or land an Ultra combo, or even activate Resonance Blaze. You just reach low HP. That's it.
I like in Them's Fighting Herds that each character is assigned as specific insturment and melody that changes the select screen depending on who is selected, and then that specific instrument plays in round two when that character wins the first round as a way to tell they're closer to winning than the opponent. TFH is (almost, probably) up there with Killer Instinct as its way to integrate music into the gameplay. Also, music changing when new stuff happens? That's been a thing since PAC-MAN or Donkey Kong when you grab a power pellet or a hammer. I guess it just plays much better in fighting games?
@@supermario863 to add to that, the activation of when the music shifts in a match also occurs when: = A player manages to go over a 15 - 20 hit combo (I'm not sure the exact number but basically a long combo) = A player uses super (whether it hits or not I'm not sure) = Both players idle (shifts to idle version of stage theme)
Tekken 4 has dynamic music which i rarely hear talked about. When you ko an opponent the music changes, like in the shinjuku stage it blares the sexy sax part of the music track. Each stage also has background ambience, in the airport stage you can hear the intercom and the plane sounds which become louder as you fight closer to them in the stage. Tekken 7 kinda does a similar thing with the final round tracks, it focuses on the hype that comes with the last round, the music changes to basically a more intense remix of the first round track which gets you PUMPED.
my favorite music gimmick in fighting games is the ky them in xrd, when he lose a round by an instant kill or is takes 5 knockdowns, his hair changes and the theme changes to a remix of his holly orders. is just an "OW SHIT NOW IT'S THE ENDGAME" moment
kof xi queen goes hard, also wished you mentioned akuma getting a ko with raging demon for music change (stops the music after a sick super and the abruptness just adds to the impact)
Tekken 7 also has this thing where the stage aesthetics and music changes as you get to the second half of the match. (OR probably three rounds in a FT3 set)
Music is mostly hit or miss, some are just really crappy dubstep, I mostly have the music off for when I'm playing and play something else. Such a shame tbh.
Another amazing video, I’m honestly not sure how you manage to make an amazing video like this every week, but you’re absolutely killing it with all your videos!
What's my favourite song from a fighting game? Idk I bought Strive because I liked "armorclad faith" "let me carve you way" and "alone infection" that much...
Tekken 7 - the themes for Cave of Enlightenment and Infinite Azure In general the beat drop when you go into Round 3 and everything get's more intense.
Alex and Ken’s theme from 3rd strike will always be one of my favorite fighting game tracks, it has inspiration from my favorite genres, and it played in the clip that got me to take fighting games seriously, Evo moment #37 babyyyy. The song is just iconic and nostalgic
I got into KI (2013) purely because of the TJ Combo theme. It is the first and only fighting game I've played competitively and the community is wonderful for it. I've had the honor of getting my butt handed to me by MBA Banemobius, Wheels, SonicDolphin, Blind, and Nicky. I listen to this rockin' soundtrack all the time with my personal favorite track actually being the Champion of Sanghelios theme. Everytime I log in to a fighting game I get to think about how I wouldn't be if it weren't for Mick Gordon. Now I'm working on Rivals of Aether and having a blast as well. KI soundtrack is still my favorite game soundtrack of all time tho
Devil May Cry does the dynamic music/chorus thing too, where as you're playing through the game as each character, it plays a stopped down version of each character's theme, until you play stylishly enough to get an S, SS, or SSS rank, in which it suddenly cuts to the chorus of the full song. This is no longer stripped down, so you could be playing Vergil, keeping concentration up, and finally land a Judgement Cut End. Right as all the enemies launch and you sheathe your sword, it cuts to I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING and you feel like an absolute fucking badass
Might have been Stockholm Syndromed into loving Endless Despair both I and II fighting unlimited Hazama so many times, but it's so good I don't even care.
Im so so glad you mentioned ride the fire doing an install that is announced by a crowd screaming out from the top of their lungs is the best feeling ever
The 'musical combo' aspect of the KI ultras was actually first done 6 years prior, by a little-known fighting game-beat 'em up hybrid game on the Nintendo DS called Draglade. Draglade had this thing called a Beat Combo, in which you could customize what musical notes comprise it and need to be hit in rhythm when you've built up enough resource and activate it in combat. The more accurately you hit the beats, the more damage it does. It was really neat, and the game was one of my favorites on DS. It even had online versus, and I almost got top 100 in the global Ranked leaderboard before the online playerbase dried up. Sadly, there was a sequel made that never left Japan.
Pretty much any music from the Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha series of games absolutely slaps. You can tell it's themes that belong to Street Fighter characters since they retain a lot of the original theme's, well, themes, but it's so distinctly Arika-sounding.
somehow Brawls, Final Destination music is one of those songs I Thoroughly enjoy, so much so that when im practicing something else not even fighting games, i still sometimes use it with headphones on.
Part 2 of Music in Fighting Game pls. I have only recently got into Fighting Game due to Melty Blood and GG Strive so I am learning so much of the sicko music across the mediums
No UNI mention in this video, Ratio + Raito Nah, apart from the joke, this year I got truly into FG basically after hearing Xrd's OST for the first time, and this video made justice to what makes them so good. Amazing work as always, keep it up!
Music in fighting games is one of the coolest subjects but sometimes not so many people care. We literally have Arcsystem who takes more time on the music production then in the balance of their games (just kidding love guilty gear and persona 4 ) Honestly everytime a new guilty gear character is announced i mostly look forward to the bangers that Daisuke and Naoki make
Tekken 4 - Bit Crusher (Shinjuku) Tekken 7 - Heat Haze, Shadow Tekken 7 - Moonsiders (Infinite Azure) Tekken 7 - Aloneness TTT2 - Heavenly Garden Third Strike - You Blow My Mind (Dudley) Third Strike - The Longshoreman (Oro) Third Strike - Killing Moon (Akuma) GG X - Momentary Life GG Xrd -SIGN- Heavy Day BB Centralfiction - Stand Unrivaled GG Strive - Mirror of the World GG Strive - Drift GG Strive - Necessary Discrepancy Antinomy of Common Flowers - Tonight Stars an Easygoing Egoist Antinomy of Common Flowers - Night Falls ~ Evening Star Hisoutensoku - 霊知の太陽信仰 ~ Nuclear Fusion These are a few of my favourite tracks in fighting games. All bangers
I know nobody’s gonna see this but Cagliostro’s theme, while it’s not necessarily timed to an install, it perfectly represents her personality of looking cute first and then being a mad scientist with no boundaries then back to cute. I’d recommend hearing it if you haven’t already, it’s perfect for the character
How dare you not talk about TFH The dynamic music system in that thingo kinda nuts, man, they made variants for every stage track, for every character, when they land a sick combo or a super + Intro calls and responses for every character, for every stage +Character wins a round, for every stage +Character wins match, for every stage +final round variations (+an "idle" version of the track for when nobody's doing anything or in training mode) Hell, you can hear it on the character select screen alone, with P1 and P2 specific instruments And that's just multiplayer, story mode also has stuff like that everywhere Like, that is as much work as it sounds like Admittedly, there is a "lite" version of it for certain stages, but still. Shit is INVIGORATING when it happens, game essentially playin' your theme when you do good
Tekken 4 had the dynamic music for when you win the round. Kinda like how killer instinct did it during the combos, Tekken did the chorus for when the match ended and did the slow mo win playback. I think the stage that used it best was the parking garage. Not only did it have a suck guitar riff, it also has a dope echo to all the voices
I love the music in Melty Blood. Rhythmical Bustle, Beat from Melty Blood, Kara No Kyoukai, Elegant Summer, and Tatakae! Bokurano Mech Hisui! are a few of my favorite tracks from that game~
Melty Bloods original op, is by far the best opening for any fighting game imo. Also the tracks Very slow life, Basilica, Physical Style, and all the tracks for the VS screen from ReACT to Actress again slaps so hard.
As a person who likes fighting games and the music it’s really good! with so many memorable and nostalgic soundtracks! I’m glad I’m not the only one! Also great and funny video as always!
With strive being my first FG then going back to xrd just to see what it was like and end up loving it, my favourites are; Still in the dark Magnolia Éclair Ride the fire Roar of the spark Necessary Discrepancy. But I love all of them and have a full playlist I listen to daily. I frickin love Guilty Gear.
My favorite fighting game track currently is "Roar Of The Spark" Ky's theme from GG StrIVe . That song hit an emotional core with me and has not let go 🔥🔥
I've lost track of the amount of times I've listened to KoF 13's soundtrack. My favourite song from the game is definitely Each Promise which is Team Elisabeth's theme.
The universal music of "Somebody just ate shit..." in my friend group is somebody getting combo'd into Instant Kill, which, in most ArcSys games, means the music swaps over. Also, yeah, more games need unique vs themes. "Still in the Dark" will always make me remember that Millia vs Eddie was hype as a teenager.
My favorite song from a fighting game might be "Wanna be Crazy" or "Freesia". Yes, I made three separate comments for supporting this video in the RUclips algorithm thanks for noticing
You brought up SF III third strike, but online edition really gave the soundtrack a whole new quality, both figuratively and literally. The Music was made in much higher quality, and instead of Just skipping straight to the second part of the theme like in in the original, now you had these sort of Scratches and smoother transitions into the round 2 part of the theme. Honestly Online edition is my fav FG OST, for that soul innovative purpose.
One of my favorite fighting game songs is, and please hear me out, Vega's theme... Specifically the remix from smash ultimate. They did an INCREDIBLE job carrying over what makes it so good and updating it to work so much better in the environment of smash.
I have SO MANY FAVORITES. But the one that's relevant to me right now is Persona 4 Arena's The Arena. I'll also mention Shop PV from Street Fighter 4 even if the version in the game is watered down on Volcano Rim
My favorite fg song has to be Six Black Heaven's Guns (technically for an anniversary thingy but it's in strive so it counts) it never fails to get me pumped up
Does the Sheep Count the Sheep? from Guilty Gear Xrd is my personal favorite. It just fits so well with Bedman's character while also being a Certified Banger™️.
Haven’t seen the video yet, but by everything holy and powerful, if you don’t talk about the MvC2 soundtrack, I will personally spam “WHERE WAS MVC2????” on each and every video of yours until the end of time.
My favorite FG song is probably Cutting Edge from KOF 2002 Unlimited Match. I haven’t actually played the game, but the soundtrack alone might make me.
Some of my favorite fighting games songs are rivals themes like keep the flag flying (order-sol vs Ky) and under heavens destruction 2 (Ragna vs Jin) but there’s something about jubias theme stand unrivaled that just always energized me I just love so many different fighting game songs I’d be here all day writing this comment
My favorite FG song has to be either Emotionless passion from tekken 2 or any song from Evil zone (yeah evil zone kinda sucked as a game, but the music was honestly great for 6 year old me and i still love it today)

The music doesn't just change specifically when transitioning to round 2 it happens in the middle of the round if one of the characters is winning.
@@supermario863 to add to that, the activation of when the music shifts in a match also occurs when:
= A player manages to go over a 15 - 20 hit combo (I'm not sure the exact number but basically a long combo)
= A player uses super (whether it hits or not I'm not sure)
= Both players idle (shifts to idle version of stage theme)
Tekken 7 - the themes for Cave of Enlightenment and Infinite Azure
In general the beat drop when you go into Round 3 and everything get's more intense.
Leeroy Smith theme when the final round starts just just gives me come back energy
Im so so glad you mentioned ride the fire doing an install that is announced by a crowd screaming out from the top of their lungs is the best feeling ever
not enough people appreciate the commitment to the Rock Parade intro. well done
I have gotten a lot of music from your videos haha. Thank you.
somehow Brawls, Final Destination music is one of those songs I Thoroughly enjoy, so much so that when im practicing something else not even fighting games, i still sometimes use it with headphones on.
Music is the reason why I started to play fighting games
Was chillin, laid back listening to the video and then jumped up and started singing rock parade in unison 😅
Some of the best Fighting game music has to come from MvC2 with its unique jazz soundtrack! The amount of nostalgia connected to some of these songs
Part 2 of Music in Fighting Game pls. I have only recently got into Fighting Game due to Melty Blood and GG Strive so I am learning so much of the sicko music across the mediums
Now don’t tell anyone this, but fighting game music is basically all I have been listening to for like 3 years now.
No UNI mention in this video, Ratio + Raito
Nah, apart from the joke, this year I got truly into FG basically after hearing Xrd's OST for the first time, and this video made justice to what makes them so good. Amazing work as always, keep it up!
Music in fighting games is one of the coolest subjects but sometimes not so many people care.
We literally have Arcsystem who takes more time on the music production then in the balance of their games (just kidding love guilty gear and persona 4 )
Honestly everytime a new guilty gear character is announced i mostly look forward to the bangers that Daisuke and Naoki make
Tekken 4 - Bit Crusher (Shinjuku)
Tekken 7 - Heat Haze, Shadow
Tekken 7 - Moonsiders (Infinite Azure)
Tekken 7 - Aloneness
TTT2 - Heavenly Garden
Third Strike - You Blow My Mind (Dudley)
Third Strike - The Longshoreman (Oro)
Third Strike - Killing Moon (Akuma)
GG X - Momentary Life
GG Xrd -SIGN- Heavy Day
BB Centralfiction - Stand Unrivaled
GG Strive - Mirror of the World
GG Strive - Drift
GG Strive - Necessary Discrepancy
Antinomy of Common Flowers - Tonight Stars an Easygoing Egoist
Antinomy of Common Flowers - Night Falls ~ Evening Star
Hisoutensoku - 霊知の太陽信仰 ~ Nuclear Fusion
These are a few of my favourite tracks in fighting games. All bangers
Fausts there in strive is one of the best things I’ve heard period and I will not be taking any questions
'Ain't nothing like a Funky beat' is the BEST song in all of fighting games and you cannot prove me wrong
KOF back in the 90's slaps hard. Cool Jam, Stormy Saxophone, Esaka and Bloody are some of the best
man you singing rock parade puts a smile on my face everytime
I know nobody’s gonna see this but Cagliostro’s theme, while it’s not necessarily timed to an install, it perfectly represents her personality of looking cute first and then being a mad scientist with no boundaries then back to cute. I’d recommend hearing it if you haven’t already, it’s perfect for the character
How dare you not talk about TFH
The dynamic music system in that thingo kinda nuts, man, they made variants for every stage track, for every character, when they land a sick combo or a super
+ Intro calls and responses for every character, for every stage
+Character wins a round, for every stage
+Character wins match, for every stage
+final round variations
(+an "idle" version of the track for when nobody's doing anything or in training mode)
Hell, you can hear it on the character select screen alone, with P1 and P2 specific instruments
And that's just multiplayer, story mode also has stuff like that everywhere
Like, that is as much work as it sounds like
Admittedly, there is a "lite" version of it for certain stages, but still.
Shit is INVIGORATING when it happens, game essentially playin' your theme when you do good
I've definitely looked across the sea and thought "damn I'd be able to buy things if I was in America or Canada"
Ragna's them from BB is my absolute favorite and it always will be!!
Manji Valley, Anger of the Earth, Mystical Forest
Tekken 6 is filled with gems
With strive being my first FG then going back to xrd just to see what it was like and end up loving it, my favourites are;
Still in the dark
Magnolia Éclair
Ride the fire
Roar of the spark
Necessary Discrepancy.
But I love all of them and have a full playlist I listen to daily. I frickin love Guilty Gear.
Dude the music of both GG Strive and BBCF were the reason I bought these games
My favorite fighting game track currently is "Roar Of The Spark" Ky's theme from GG StrIVe . That song hit an emotional core with me and has not let go 🔥🔥
I've lost track of the amount of times I've listened to KoF 13's soundtrack. My favourite song from the game is definitely Each Promise which is Team Elisabeth's theme.
so glad to have some P4AU footage on this channel, with the Pc port :D
Blazblue has so many good songs. Nightmare Fiction will forever be my favorite fighting game song.
Haven’t seen the video yet, but by everything holy and powerful, if you don’t talk about the MvC2 soundtrack, I will personally spam
“WHERE WAS MVC2????”
on each and every video of yours until the end of time.
8:45 YANG THEME! YANG GOING BURN!!
This is why I love Cross Tag Battle
My favorite FG song is probably Cutting Edge from KOF 2002 Unlimited Match. I haven’t actually played the game, but the soundtrack alone might make me.
Favourite song from a fighting game is easily Out of the Box by NAOKI. I don't know what else to say that shit slaps hard.
Could never get into Smash from a gameplay standpoint, but God damn, those tunes hit straight to the soul!!
My favorite fighting game theme is crawl
Easily my favorite is the man himself, the man who died in battle and lived to tell the tale, BANG SHISHIGAMI!!!
My favorite FG song has to be either Emotionless passion from tekken 2 or any song from Evil zone (yeah evil zone kinda sucked as a game, but the music was honestly great for 6 year old me and i still love it today)
Favorites songs are sols find your own way , and solstice ultimate from xrd heavy day
incredible restraint in not talking about the song used in his outro.
Music got me into Tekken...
...now I can't escape....
My favorite fighting game theme is between Trigger form Giovanna and Electronica in the Velvet room for persona 4 Arena
Plus 10 points for using Iwai's theme to promote an online store/sponsor👌🏿
