Great video, the quality of the production is superb. I have one little niggle, I’ve never seen CAN described as “Connected Aim Network” in any documentation. CAN is “Controller Area Network”, surely? Thanks for your contributions 👍
Thanks for the video. I’ve had lots of issues with my SmartyCam 3 Sport - not least of all it not automatically starting recording. Part of the issue is that, if the camera is behind you (like many/most drivers) there’s no indication that it’s recording. I lost my Castle Combe quali session. The battery is stunningly short - even when just making adjustments to settings. And the quality of the image is pretty poor too. The overlays aren’t too good. I’m disappointed with it.
I'm sorry to hear that you've had challenges! I don't know if you watched my other video on the review but I do think there are many things that are improved, however, I do hear your point on some of these issues. Do let me know if I can help as I'm often at Castle Combe. Typically, auto start and stop is in the 'parameters' settings of the main logger or dash you are using. I've had a few issues with those being slightly out of whack and affecting the starting of the video (as I have my SmartyCam to start recording when the logger does). Let me know if you resolved the issue as I can share some others on the parameter setup too.
@@JamesColborn thanks - I’m pretty sure I have the settings right and I talk to Frank a lot anyway (the PDM can be fun with weird stuff happening with updates or faulty hardware). The last firmware update seemed to be to do with starting/stopping so maybe they’ve solved it. I’m just outside Malmesbury so Combe is very local but I’m moving to Edinburgh shortly. I watched your other great video and I agree with most of your conclusions. I don’t think the Sport is really much good for enclosed cars though. I wish I’d waited for the other models but I also wanted to take advantage of the data from my PDM
Thank you for this video. One question - in System Date and Time it allows me to change how the date and time are viewed but I do not see how I can change the actual date and time. Please let me know how you were able to change the date and time.
I like to use that section to just ensure the date format etc. as the rest is sent directly from the logger/dash (and or GPS signal I believe). Out of interest, what is your camera connected to?
Thank you again for this video. I have created two overlays and uploaded them to SC3, however it appears I cannot toggle between them and only the last one to transmit (after updating the configuration) shows up. Is there a way to toggle between overlays on the SC3? Or do I have to transmit and update configuration each time I want to change the overlay?
Hi Gabriel. Thank you for the kind comments about the video. Unfortunately, you cannot toggle. It will be the last configuration you uploaded will be the one that you have to use. Good idea though!
Do you know why my SmartyCam protocol is showing vehicle speed in km/h and all temps in Celsius despite the Solo 2 DL that is the “master” being in mph and Fahrenheit?
Hi. I'm afraid I do not know exactly, however, my recommendation is to check the 'channel' settings in the config. Those values should transfer through to the SmartyCam. This is the typical area where we see a difference, especially on dash configs and SmartyCams.
are you saying that I will have to take camera out of the car to upload the files? like it requires an aim device to load them? Or can I do this via the SD only. I do not want to move my cameras once they are mounted.
You can do it all via the SD card. Upload all configs etc. to the card, insert the card into the camera (without moving it) and upload the configs from there.
I second the previous comment, super super helpful, thank you!!
This is sooo helpful, thank you for making this and the rest of these tutorials
Glad it was helpful!
good stuff, have a solo2dl, an mlx2, a smarty cam 2, and now going to buy a smartycam 3 dual. going to love to go over all the settings ;)
I'm looking forward to trying out the duel. Should be fun placing the second camera. Good luck and thanks for commenting on the video.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I think once upon a time, AiM described it to me this way but your absolutely right on CAN in general.

Hola quiero el audio en español, pero es en inglés únicamente?
my ecu stream can is not showing all items available in the smarty cam 3 list in display Can protocols. How do you get all can streaming protocols ?
Are you using a logger/dash to send information to the SC3 or are you directly connecting it to your ECU?

Hola disculpa no puedo conectar mis sensores de acelerar y frenar
¿A qué registrador o tablero tienes conectada la cámara?
The aim people really don’t understand the concept of user friendly, do they?
