quick tip for those of you that have had the plastic screw break, just run a tap into the threads of the copper rod once you notice it gets harder to tighten and it cleans the internal threads of debris which will make it easy to tighten and prevent breakage

Hi Vlad, thank you for the video. I took it one step further, instead of dipping the brush in the vinegar and scrubbed.. I filled a plastic cup and soaked the entire spring for about 10 minutes. I covered the solar with a paper towel and weighed it down with a flat steel rod. Even after a month since I bought it, it came off pretty easy. Thanks again

From your two videos, I just ordered one. Battling the green algae is almost a daily task in summer and costs tons for the chemicals. Hopefully this will help reduce all that.

I agree. I am using the ionizer and it works. Thanks for the tip about using vinegar to clean the spring. I have been cleaning it in an almost identical way. Adding the vinegar - even better. I see a comment below about concern with copper level in the water; there are test strips to check copper level and you also have the option to leave the Ionizer out of the pool for a week or two after cleaning it which provides a rest time to the pool and the ionizer. Even keeping the ionizer working part time seems to show a copper level at .1 ppm which is on the low side but good enough to have a super nice clear water like on this video. Keep in mind the ionizer does not relief/replace maintaing the PH, Alkalinity, and Phosphates' levels in the correct range. I am saving tons of clorine, happy with it.

I'd like to ask you, if I may, I'm having some trouble keeping the pool's cianuric acid in check. I've had to empty ⅓ of the pool water twice, and I'm about a week ek from having to do it again! So, before I start using the Remington Solar Shock what has been in your experience the appropriate cianuric acid percentage in the pool water. I don't want to start using it without making sure I have the right chemistry in my pool water. Please, be so kind to share your advice.
Thank you so very much in advance for your help and attention.

  • @bludika

good review. BTW, you can get CLR from any hardware store, mix with water in a pickle jar, and leave it dipped overnight and voila, you got a clean ionizer. you got a nice pool man, you make good money im guessing?
One last thing btw, so does your Chlorine level need to still be at between 2.0 - 3.0? or even at 1.0 or 2.0, it still doesn't need to be increased to like 4.0 or 5.0 because of the Ionizer? or does the Ionizer lets the water maintain at the 2.0 level for longer?

I note that this is an older video, but also see there is a recent response from 1 month ago. I purchased a solar ionizer about a year ago and it worked very well. Recently I purchased a new basket and spring as the original one was starting to deteriorate. About 2 weeks of use the spring (still not certain how the spring relates to the process) broke off in 3 places. The company is supposedly sending out a new one, but I am wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem of the spring deteriorating to the point of just breaking apart.

I’d be extremely wary about switching away from Chlorine. Yes it’s nasty stuff but there is much nastier stuff that can potentially be fatal in your pool if you’re not killing the bacteria. I switched to a salt water chlorine generator which creates a constant small amount of Chlorine and prevents the need to shock the pool. Vlad mentioned having to shock the pool regularly which is an indication the pool chemistry was not right.
