I had a chart done back in 1991 and it just confused me to the point that I didn't think I could ever understand or enjoy astrology. Not that Moon in Scorpio and Sun in Gemini isn't already confusing enough! While it did hit some accurate points, it mostly presented a very negative description of my personality that made me want to stop reading; I still don't feel it fits me. Apparently the right teacher has appeared, and that would be you. Thank you SO much. I love your videos (and Facebook posts). Subscribed and watching!
Thank you. I had Noel Tyl as my mentor - and I don't use astrological jargon in my consultations just because of what you mention.... it can be very confusing and leave the client with no useful information. It's so sad when the focus becomes limiting and negative in astrology - I see it so often. Doesn't need to be.
wow moon in Taurus has me right on . Am naturally inclined to ask what are Virgo's issues i would have thought to master, I've just been reading life from the feminine perspective through my Sun and Neptune conjunct. with Neptune exact trine to uRanUs 27 Taurus, loved the article on the Neptune brain fog, i flew with it, have stopped one and all in their tracks for all the near 50 years of catching notes on the fly, played it by ear as we flew by the seat of our pants, till catching wind of some like i just did of sun in twelfth house, that end of chart as well as end of Virgo . . .double whammy time? that's what its been in my life. . . would love to get mine done with you, my brain is swimming through the aspects , . . . . and
Thank you for this video, Kathy! As a Taurus sun (6th house) in the 5th degree I could not grasp why there has been very little stability in my life, work or otherwise, now I understand! I'm 57 and have been ready to get off the rollercoaster a few times but continue to persevere. A big transition is happening; job ended abruptly, getting rid of most of my belongings and moving but don't know where I'll land. It's like I'm purging the past for what lays ahead. Capricorn moon (3rd house) 17 degrees is probably my saving grace. Scorpio ascendent keeps me searching no doubt. Appreciate your persepective very much : )
Excellent! I've not heard of the Sun and Moons synergies explained in that perspective before, regarding to past/current life times. Also the difference between the Sun in an early degree of a sign indicating a new experience and new qualities to learn, and in the last degrees indicating a real push of the expression of those qualities. Thankyou Kathy :-]
I think of astrology as a tool for soul growth and your philosophy fits right into that. Your videos have taken an intimidating (to me), and very interesting subject and helped me understand, where before I never thought I could. I'm going to have to stop writing my notes on the back of envelopes and get a serious notebook.
Interesting! It took me 15 years to become a psychology instructor at a community college. Love my work. Ready to move to a broader Audience. I am having my 2nd Saturn return. I am 59. Moon in Cancer 5th house
That was an excellent explanation of the difference of the sun and moon in their signs, my sun is in Leo and my grandaughters moon is in leo, but my goodness we could not be more different, she is all "Look at me" and im more " how can i help you ".
Thank you for this, Kathy! I had never thought of it this way but it makes sense now. I always kind of wondered about the purpose of sun signs in terms of life focus. I’ve heard different things about moon signs relating to the emotions or the mother but I have never seen it from this perspective and I really love the depth this added. I am an Aries sun with moon in Pisces (and also south node and mars in Pisces), so I have a heck of a lot of Pisces in my chart (more than Aries) but it definitely is my default. I have often felt uncomfortable being an Aries but I feel like I want to embrace my Aries nature a bit more. I turned 40 this year and I really want to embody the practical, can do north node in Virgo vibe and the child-like energy of Aries. I feel like maybe I’ve been overly Piscean although I do feel like it is an important part of my personality. I do appreciate all of it and I love your perspective on really loving the uniqueness of your own chart, integrating and appreciating all the parts of self. ❤️
There are many different angles from which to view the chart - and certainly the Moon can indeed suggest our understanding of the mother. I studied with Noel Tyl - and in his method looking at the chart from a psychological point of view was his specialty. Now I am teaching his method and his Masters Course. The spiritual - life-purpose view just looks through a different lens.
That was just amazing how you explained that. I have never had it explained like that. I have waited many years to get into to wondering about everything, I'm glad I have found you. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the info!....I'm Sun in Cancer, Moon in Capricorn, and I totally agree with your interpretation, but my South Node is in Cancer and my North Node in Capricorn. It is my understanding that the North Node is what we need to focus on and achieve in order to evolve.
sandraardnas1000 Life has been transformative for us since 2008! My brother has Sun in Capricorn, Moon in Cancer, North Node in Cancer, South Node in Capricorn. My Sun is in Cancer, Moon in Cancer, Rising in Cancer, South Node in Cancer, North Node in Capricorn.
Why just 0 and 1 degrees for the sun? I was born Feb 21 and am 2 degrees Pisces♓. What you said about being born in the first two degrees of a sign resonated with me. My dad was not April. 18 and my memories of him are both Aries and Taurus ♉ energies. Now I understand why... he was more mature in his Aries energy and didn't show the crazy (at least not in his adult life as a parent) of what I've seen with many Aries ♈.
Very interesting, Kathy. But one thing you did not address is what it means when you have both the sun and the moon in the SAME sign. It would seem to me that the sun and moon would be polar opposites in the same sign. How does that work, exactly?
Born during the New Moon phase simply gives a concentration of learning per the energy of that sign. It focuses the awareness on the element and modality for the sign.
What about an early degree conjunction between the Sun and Moon in the same sign (Scorpio, I was borne just after a new moon aspect)? Does it mean I did not pick up enough of those skills in past lifetimes, and this current life gives me the opportunity to carry on developing myself?
New Moon in Pisces birth - suggests a concentration of learning about the Pisces energy. Super strong purposeful growth opportunity to understand emotional mutable approach to life
You mentioned the special nature of Sun in first and last degrees of a sign. Is there a special nature of the moon being in the first or last degrees of a sign?
It has not been my experience that having the Moon in the first or last degree is as meaningful as having the Sun there. With all things in astrology - we need to learn when to stop measuring and analyzing - and instead hear or feel the basic and loudest statement. That's what I try to teach all the people I tutor and teach....
Sun in the last sign of the zodiac (pisces), Moon in the first sign (Aries), Mars (12th) in mutual reception with Moon, and Asc. first degree Leo. As you can tell, I'm screwed
I don't see how saying "you're screwed" helps you in any way - except to create that very reality. I never, ever - look at the horoscope with that perspective. The real question in my mind is "how are you going to use that energy in order to grow, heal, and evolve?"
Dear Kathy, @roseastrology Very clear explanation. But does this also mean, that when you a born during a new moon (both sun/moon in the same sign) in Leo, that you are extremely stubborn and obstinate? You've had loads of experience and skills in many other lifetimes, but you still need to learn it in this incarnation?!?!? Your ego is that dominant, that it still needs examination in this lifetime to overcome it?? Is this correct?
That's one possibility - but it could also be lived on a higher expression. Sun-Moon in Leo is learning about leadership - and how to do that with an open heart.
There are many layers I consider when analyzing the chart from a life-purpose view. The Sun and Moon are the first step. I will be doing more videos on this topic.....

Awesome!! So happy.
My sun and moon are in the same sign along with Mars and Jup!
You have a concentrated focus related to learning and utilizing the energy from that sign.
Thank you Kathy you are a very wise astrologer. So glad I found you here on Ytube!
Thank you for the kind comment.
Very good. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
Thank you dear wise lady!!

Always Essential,Basic,Absolutely 😍🌈🥰🙏🏼💚💝
Wonderful information thank you 🙏🏻
So true!!! What happens when both partners have Leo in moon?
Really really enjoyed this thank you -- would you do one for Midheaven signs?
I will be doing more educational videos - they are in the works.... thanks for your kind comment.

New Moon in Pisces birth - suggests a concentration of learning about the Pisces energy.
Super strong purposeful growth opportunity to understand emotional mutable approach to life

I thought the north node is your life lesson ,but your sun/moon philosophy is very interesting .Thanks Kathy
There are many things to consider - and yes, the nodal axis is also part of it.

Great video! Do you teach?
What about an unaspected Sun at 5 degrees. It does not aspect any other planet by degree, all other planets are from 12 degrees to 28 degrees.
Dear Kathy, @roseastrology
Very clear explanation.
But does this also mean, that when you a born during a new moon (both sun/moon in the same sign) in Leo, that you are extremely stubborn and obstinate?

There are many layers I consider when analyzing the chart from a life-purpose view. The Sun and Moon are the first step. I will be doing more videos on this topic.....
we control the planets ..not planets us...moon in leo here so is my sun lol
