At this time, reminds me of Constance Demby's Space Age Music with those "strange unfamiliar sounds from the Saxophone 🎷 " - SUZE'Q Thanks very much 👍 ❤❤🎉😅
Real pfunk, pure funk, i was stationed in Wurzburg , Germany with Eddie's nephew Rick Harris, man we smoked a lot of hash and Harris, Rick! hope you still above ground, u always called me " ES " is in Spanish,if you remember me i played basketball for the Wurzburg Warriors with Larry Rentz and Scotty Growder........i hope my old comrades are still above ground..... Vietnam Vets 1969...
I bought an album back in the early 80's of Eddie Harris. One of the supervisors at the office was a real jazz lover and told him about the album. He asked if he could borrow it, never got it back. So I bought another one. I need some Money was the album name. Played that till it wore out.
He IS famous dude. Has been since the days with Les McCann - what 1970? If they had him on the Superbowl halftime it would be the highest rated show in history of TV
Mr. Eddie Harris is so super cool. When I went to stay with my uncle in New York City 1968 uncle had his album. We would listen to Mr. Eddie Harris. Great memories. Peace of God to all.
Have always loved Eddie "Who?", and this Funk Project band is wonderful to the man. One thing: cannot understand by Bradley Bobo is not a household name. He just fills in everything that is needed. Perfect pitch and timing and presence - a simply wonderful player.
Wonderful music here. These guys could play....so many great moments in this concert. By the way ,anoraks, Ron Muldrow provided the guitar work for "you can`t sit down" - the Phil Upchurch hit. Eddie came to London and played masterfully at a little jazz club with some great locals. Anyone remember this ?
many thanks for this video! had the chance to listen and see him 1986 in Hamburg, germany, my hometown. he was a genius musician, happy and grateful to have a vinyl LP from Eddie, with his signature. bought several CD albums later and collected some more vinyl LP. RIP
Eddie Harris “Funk Project”. Probably the most unnecessary band name in history because EVERYTHING Eddie Harris did from the day he started recording was funky!!! With pristine assistant from LA drum legend James Gadson, Chicago legend Derf Reklaw Raheem, longtime sideman Ron Muldrow (father of Georgia Ann), and Mr. Bobo on bass.
Chicago has certainly produced some of thee most soulful jazz musicians Eddie Harris Gene Jug Ammons Ahmad Jamal and last but not least the incomparable dynamic Dina Washington
Eddie Harris was a master sax player. His early LPs/CDs 'The In Sound + Mean Greens' are jazz CDs and my favourites. Even his 'Eddie Who' LP is a question as to why he's not more famous. (I'm working through his tenor sax book!) Probably because of his funk stuff he lost the attention of the jazz crowd.
Wem das nicht in die Füße geht, auch wenn er kein Funk-Freund ist /eher tecno ect.., sollte mal sein Musikverständniss hinterfragen .Victims of the systhem ?
🎉This MUSIC 🎶 BROUGHT PEACE

Musik, die niemals langweilig oder überholt sein wird. Weil: für die Seele!
Yes.
Eddie and the band brought the funk! Holler!!💯✅
Loved Eddie's personalized scat. A genius in all forms of his music career; even inventing different reeds.
Bradley BoBo on bass is KIIICCCKING IT!!!!!!

Maestro Eddie Harris is a serious guy!
The BEST.....Funky was his first name. And what a great band. Cooking on at 400 degrees!!!
Uno dei grandi sax
I can't get enough of Eddie Harris music - an absolute genius - why isn't this guy famous?
The best jazz concert ever I saw many others and big stars but nothing like this
He IS famous dude. Has been since the days with Les McCann - what 1970? If they had him on the Superbowl halftime it would be the highest rated show in history of TV

41:53 James Gadson doesn't need to break a sweat to be funky, but when he does, watch out!
Love the guitarist's groove. And the bassist is a beast.

Man, when Bradley solo looking at his face gives it like an extra dimension it.
Yeah. Bradley Bobo doesn't even have a wikipedia entry - wtf?
@@brooksianj Just found out that Brad Bobo passed-away a year ago at 69 years.
@@NavyLeaguer yeah i saw that 😞
Totally agree , you only have to look at his face , and what comes out , great band !
Muldrow playing some kickass rhythm guitar solos here....
THE BEST OF THE BEST ...
A great saxophonist, he brings back memories of many countries around the world.

James Gadson plays our club every Thursday night...still going strong at 83! Come check him out at The Write Off Room in Studio City, Ca....
Damn what a show!!
Thanks for upload, thanks eddie: one of the greatest in jazz...and what a band!! This is how jazz funk has to be
To be played and performed
REAL music!
I LOVE Bobo's facial expressions as he plays along. Also watching the crowd is hilarious.
The audience can't dance to 1974 Blues, but that doesn't stop them from trying

Sweet Bass VI at 40:35!
Eddie ,and Grover are the most versatile tenor players in Jazz history,Jazz,Funk ect . I’m sure both played classical.
23:22 It melts my soul!
Would love to hear Eddie play more Varitone. A live version of "It's Crazy "or "Sham Time"...
so nice bro !!
36:12 1974 blues
Great!
Everyone Needs Some Money today. Everything is so damn high.
Eddie rocking a Mark 7. It’s the man not the horn !
You are right about your man-versus-horn-theory.
Yet some Mark 7s are awesome. I played the one he plays here, and it is a fantastic horn.
Joe Henderson played one for awhile until he accidentally found his horn ,one of his students had purchased it. I’m sure he had A m6 as well.
💜💥
Yeah man, great post. Eddie Who? Eddie Fucking Harris.
That jacket looks exactly like one Thelonious Monk war for a Time magazine photo? Where does one find these things as a UH and method actor?
Wait a minute… It’s not an exact replica but pretty cool nevertheless
❤
