This reminds me of the Bill/Liam situation. Bill used the excuse that he thought his son's marriage was over so be stalked his way to the Forrester estate to 'console' a distraught Steffy. Nevermind that Steffy is still his son's wife. It doesnt matter that Brooke thought Nick/Bridget were through. That was still her daughter's husband. Also both Bill/Brooke had the same justification for the affair behind Katie's back but that was still Brooke's sister/Bill's wife's sister.
Knowing Brooke it probably was that and Brooke tried to deny it like she always do the same way she did it with deacon and she ended up having Deacon baby which was also Bridges husband this the second husband that Brooke done took away from her daughter that she claimed that she love so much.
She doesn´t. But she has done major mistakes with Bridget. Bridget´s mistake was getting involved with Nick who had past with Brooke. Nick never got over Brooke. They were always close but when Hope´s accident happened, they became more than just close friends. And when Bridget faked abortion, things just blew up.
Brooke is older, physically anyway, another betrayal like what Brooke has done to Bridget multiple times, is less plausible now. However, if Hope were to get with an older man, I wouldn't count on Brooke's devotion for long.
