His roots are based in the "Mississippi Delta " as far as his musical style is concerned, but BEYOND OVERLY TALENTED, he's one of the original "Blue Eyed Hoochie Coohie Men"
Right on. I got to play a small group thing and a big band concert with his world-class jazz, funk blues (everything) drummer Steve Gadd from Rochester. Amazing experience. And I always wanted to play with Clapton.
Clapton plays the blues like no other white guitarists music8am on the planet. Clapton & the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn were, for intents and purposes, were and are the best white bluesman the world has ever scene.
What a blues rock god I will never get tired of listening to Clapton and his vision of life and expressing himself and the whole human race of brilliant blues music thankyou your a legend
I like Clapton as well as Muddy versions. It is all about what are you in the mood for. Muddy and his pure, no frills blues or Clapton dressing it up for the world with himself, Nathan East, Steve Gadd, and so on for top of the wanted list backing band members and vocalists. Similar to apples and oranges......which one are you in the mood for today? 👌
Totally agree 👍 on the strength of this I got all the Crossroads box sets, live in Hyde Park 90, Knebworth 90, EC & Stevie Winwood live in Mad Sq Gdn, the Mark Knopfler/ EC one in Tokyo and few more things he participated in, The Stones are my main band but Eric is in a league of his own🔥🔥🎸🎸🎸🇮🇪👍
Sun Tzu forgot to mention Balloise Sessions have it on DVD from Sky TV but will not be content till I get the Blu ray version from Japan (this is a special favourite as Henry Spinetti is drumming and Andy Fairweather singing Gin House on it) Still surprisingly haven't got 70th Royal Albert Hall one yet(shillings are tight 😢) but Christmas is near😀👍
my first concert "slowhand" in Charlotte nc i was 13 i still remember 37 now still love this master of the black mans blues the true blues im a white boy i feel every chord he picks.
I don't have a halo and wings either now getting back to what this - Clapton playin Hoochie Coochie Man, to be honest ive always kinda liked Steppenwolf version of this. which brought me here to say this is real sweet. Rock on Eric!
After reading all comments, said to myself,,,,,, Who the hell are they even to think Eric is overrated ???? Strange,,,, none of them has a name i heard before or is a 14 Grammy's winner????? Overcame heroin and alcohol addiction and still be one of the greatest even at 71. So any stupid comments to my view ain't worth to be when Mr. Clapton is concerned. This man is a very generous gentleman of his art, living in connection with the Blues, his fans, and his Stratocaster . When Eric plays,,,,,,,,,, everyone listens,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Always.............There has to be a reason why?????? Yeah! Evereyone listens cause ??????? Eric s playin !!!!!! Simple enough????
The best version ever. No doubt for me. PS: everybody talk about Muddy Waters, but forget who write this great song for him: Mr. Willie Dixon, the man who compossed the best classics blues (You shook me, I can't quit you babe, etc.)

О, не будь я Hoochie Coochie, Не будь я Hoochie Coochie Man.

@azkat07 Yeah, but Clapton has brought the blues to a generation who may have never explored that whole genre had he not introduced it to them. I give him a whole heck of a lot of credit for that.
@heck8606 ....i should say....one of many good guitarist...for example, Stevie Ray Vaugan was also a fantastic blues man....and BB King?...and Hendrix?
Eric Clapton is one of the best guitarist ever, I always love his music.
His roots are based in the "Mississippi Delta " as far as his musical style is concerned, but BEYOND OVERLY TALENTED, he's one of the original "Blue Eyed Hoochie Coohie Men"
That performance kicks ass Eric took that song to whole new level
Not only I love Clapton, but love that he surrounds himself only with top notch musicians.

I think Muddy Water's is better. He sings it in the true blues way.

Чиж - Hoochie Coochie Man - текст
О, я Hoochie Coochie
О, я Hoochie Coochie Man
О, я Hoochie Coochie
О, я Hoochie Coochie Man
О, я Hoochie Coochie
О, я Hoochie Coochie Man
Hoochie Coochie,
Hoochie Coochie Man.

Lyrics:
The gypsy woman told my mother
Before I was born
I got a boy child's comin'
He's gonna be a son of a gun
He gonna make pretty women's
Jump and shout
Then the world wanna know
What this all about
But you know I'm him
Everybody knows I'm him
Well you know I'm the
Hoochie coochie man
Everybody knows I'm him
I got a
Black cat bone
I got a
Mojo
Too
I got the
Johnny Concheroo
I'm gonna mess with you
I'm gonna make you girls
Lead me by my hand
Then the world will know
The hoochie coochie man
But you know I'm him
Everybody knows I'm him
Oh you know I'm the hoochie coochie man
Everybody knows I'm him
On the seventh hours
On the seventh day
On the seventh month
The seven doctors say
He was born for good luck
And that you'll see
I got seven hundred dollars
Don't you mess with me
But you know I'm him
Everybody knows I'm him
Well you know I'm the hoochie coochie man
Everybody knows I'm him
512kkg thank u
I always knew that line as "Got a John The Conqueror root". It's for a mojo bag.

'Hoochie Coochie Man' is that song where you always have to do a bit of talking during the performance.
