Yeah as a Mina fan, even I think it was a bad take 😭 it’s ok for her to be excited about lesbian content but there is no need to undermine anything that isn’t such
The problem is that the idea of showing Firefly have implied romantic feelings doesn't do anything to take away from her character. All she wants is to live a free and normal life as a person and not a weapon so, if anything, her finding love and companionship is very much in line with her story. She then complains that Firefly has just been the MC's girlfriend for the last 3 patches, yet she's on record saying that's essentially what she wanted from Firefly. That's why no one is buying her excuse. She obviously just didn't want it to be Caelus.
And most people act like being a waifu and a good character can't coexist. Firefly can be both, and in fact, showing romantic (or at the very least platonic) interest is unironically a good addition to her character. It's a juxtaposition to SAM being expected to be a cold-hearted killing machine. Firefly deep down wants to be a warm-hearted loving human, and it just happens to be the MC that she shows interest in, whether it's Caelus or Stelle.
There's a million counter-points you can bring up against her, but most importantly, does she forget that this is a gacha game? 😂😂

Fr is it wrong to not throw out a characters depth as soon as they show care for the mc, and not like she doesn't have scenes with other characters too. She has bonds with everyone else, not just mc so "reducing to waifu" is completely inaccurate.

@AzureSky-dq5xf ok, I won't say you're wrong, he did say that but maybe you saw some out of context clip, he does say that to make fun of all the people who say "x female character and belong only to girls" in these cases he does say that, in other case is "what is wrong with a guy liking a woman?" And that isn't meant to say that the female character are for guys only, but it's meant to say that being straight is fine and there's absolutely no problem with that.
I can 100% understand why some people would be disappointed by Firefly. When we came to Penacony there was the promise of meeting SAM, a badass tokusatsu character, an honest to god evil power ranger and the initial boss fight emphasized this character, so when people want to learn more about that guy and then the game said how about we don't give you a power ranger and have a GF instead...
With that in mind it's less about people being disappointed with Firefly and more that they were disappointed with SAM if that makes sense. Especially since the whole story of Penacony not once ever touches on her roots with Iron Cavalry which was the entire initial appeal of the character and it was just kind of dropped. I like Firefly, but I kind of wish they weren't SAM
I still really wish Firefly wasn't SAM. I was excited after seeing the boss fight, thinking I was gonna get a cool robot that burns everything to the ground. Though whenever I said anything about it, I just get told "but that's a 2 in 1 deal" or "but Firefly is cute". I get most people are absolutely in love with her, but I don't like her anywhere near as much as the majority of the fan base. I like female characters like Fu Xuan and Silver Wolf more.

when was it implied that SAM was ever an honest to god evil power ranger during the story. when they were first introduced as part of the stellaron hunters it seems like they'd be someone who did their job quickly and efficiently. And all of the members of the stellaron hunters aren't evil, they are morally gray, playing their part in a script that is supposedly the only way to save the universe (while their motives and intentions differ, I'm still not sure about kafka tbh, blade was and i think still is a good person but hes kinda fucked rn as hes marastruck, silverwolf is just there).
While I do agree that I would like for a character like SAM to be a villain (who doesn't love cool ominous mech robots destroying and killing shit) they wasn't really introduced to be one.
@@Meme-zr4uz Do you recall the trailer 10 months ago called “The Jeppela Rebellion” that featured SAM? That was my introduction to the character. Standing in a city engulfed in flames as they stated casually, “Don’t play with your food, Kafka.” was such a strong introduction to me.
Calling the Stellaron Hunters morally gray does feel disingenuous. They got their bounty for a reason, but you’re right that they aren’t just straight villains considering what Elio’s goals are. I still remember Kafka’s companion quest and how she tried to force us to fight people. She didn’t want a peaceful solution and actively sabotaged attempts to get one.
SAM similar was introduced to me as someone who’s merciless and will kill thousands of people with no hesitation. That idea was slightly reinforced during the SAM vs Acheron confrontation. SAM mentioned having no dreams regarding the people they’ve killed, and how they felt envious to those that did. There’s quite a few interpretations you could have for that statement. One of which is the desire to relive those past moments.
Of course the reality is that SAM wasn’t so violent. Firefly’s introduction paints a different light, and with it a reveal into her motivations. Which is uh…being unassociated with the Stellaron Hunters.
Something about that motive feels weird. Why’d she even hook up with them in the first place then? She has no qualms with dying as mentioned before so it’s not necessarily to cure herself of the Entropy Loss Syndrome.
My expectation of SAM and the questions I had for them were all subverted and in their place I found personally less interesting questions.
