I never understood why people crap on the Vintage headstock. I definitely don't get a "budget vibe" from that headstock. It's the closest I've seen to an actual Gibson headstock. Everybody else stretches out and distorts the shape between the nut and the E tuners. This one keeps it similar to Gibson and just slightly refines the open book feature.

Vintage are much more the brand to look at, if you're UK based, prices aren't as ridiculous as they are in the US (import charges are Savage) They're typically at the Classic Vibe price point over here
My go to guitar brand these days. Don't like new Gibsons as they are overpriced in the UK and I have one Vintage Tobacco Sunburst Les Paul that craps over every Gibson Les Paul I've ever owned or played. Sure, there are amazing Gibsons out there owned mainly by plastic surgeons, investment bankers and lawyers but as a musician for 46 years now, I'm not spending wanker money on a guitar that is priced like real estate. Fender still make some great guitars to be fair and the Classic Vibe Squiers are fine guitars. It's all too audiophile for me as I grew up in the punk era with shit gear and shit amps so maybe I have low standards but I frankly don't care. It's only rock and bleeding roll after all 😂
@@martin-1965 Oneof the best rock and roll guitarists I've ever played with had an old kay semi acoustic (not semi solid) with a single cut, kleenex box pick ups and a bigsby on it, what you would not choose to play. but my point is that it was what he'd had since the early sixties and couldn't afford anything better. He made that guitar sound beautiful and that has always stuck with me, the fact that price is not the deciding factor. My most expensive guitar is a Heritage H555, if you know about Heritage, you will know the quality. But I am now seriously considering a Vintage Les Paul Junior and Gold Top. I am like you with regard to Gibson, I've had four of them but would never buy another one new. As you say, they are building them for plastic surgeons and highly paid lawyers. Once a guitar gets beyond a certain level, it all depends on who has it in their hands and I think Vintage are now past the required level. I'm also considering a Schecter for the same reasons.
@@markfahey3921 Totally mate and the Vintage Gold Top is definitely on my list so I have - ahem - the complete set (almost) of Vintage Les Paul copies. I can't really justify buying the Gibson I want, which would not be cheap, and most if not all of my time is spent recording at my small home set up, so having a range of cheaper guitars to choose from gives me more inspiration and sounds. I am on the look out for my dream Fender Stratocaster but there's no rush and you can get an amazing beast of a Strat for sub £1k second hand which is much better value than Gibson. It's a great time to be a guitarist and especially a young player starting out 😎
@@martin-1965 Hi Martin, as far as Strats go, if you want a killer strat, get a second hand Made in Japan tokai strat. I have two Japanese Tokai's. the Tokai version of a Les Paul and one of a Tele, both Japanese - incredible guitars for the money, but both stand up equally against their Amarican brand counterparts. In fact the other guitar player in the banc I play in has one of those RI Les Paul's, it cost him near enough £6000 - ok, it's better than my Tokai, but I can't see £5250 worth of difference.
Dear Ryan; So excited to see this Vintage line up video. So the blue guitar was more Gibson/ Epiphone clone than Ampeg Clone. I like it. Cheap guitar gets either gets modded or stupidly heavy strings. (Let's be honest: Both!). Thank You for the Video. Sincerely Mike B. B. From Philly
Vintage make quality guitars to be fair The gold top p90 is especially beautiful.they use decent timbers and Wilkinson pick ups . All together they make solid guitars and you really can't fault them.
Amazing job , but I think the most important things to do is to adjust the sound of the amplifier , your adjustments is a bit high bass and the distortion was a bit low and also it depends on the kind of amp your using . but overall very well explained , Thank you
They made some great guitars years ago but the pricing now is becoming on par with epiphone and the classic vibe squire but I think the wilkinson hardware is better than the stuff you get on epi or squire ( the cheap grover tuners are crap) the roadworn Lps are horrendous tho lol
I have a couple of Vintage guitars, they have taken a couple of steps up since introducing the Re-issue series. I have a Vintage JMH reverse headstock 2014 Strat which was my favourite until it started going wrong. One of the machine heads failed and I had to buy all 6 to replace 1. Then I thought the pick-up selector switch had died as I couldn't select the neck pickup. I bought a new one and it still didn't work, I traced the fault to a dry soldered joint on the pick-up winding and repaired it. I took the neck off with the strings intact to do the repair and when I reassembled it, the thing wouldn't play or setup properly. I discovered the neck was twisted and warped beyond repair. I ordered a new neck which when it arrived it hadn't had the frets pressed in properly. I got that professionally repaired and now it plays great again. I also thought it sounded great until I bought a new Fender USA FSR Stratocaster for my 60th birthday and realise it's miles away from the Yosemite pickups on my Fender. I have a Vintage SG copy which is a great guitar and has been trouble free. I'd say the general quality of the Vintage Re-issue series is much the same as Squire Classic Vibe.
Would u buy a vintage brand or Harley Benton? I have a hb 35plus and love it but want another humbucker guitar as I have 2 strats and want another humbucker style for more metal music playing.
The quality felt higher to me on those vintage guitars than hb but the price difference reflects that. I think the real question is would I buy an epiphone or a vintage and honestly I’m not sure. That sg was pretty cool.
Hi , I have a Vintage Brand guitar VR-2000EMB Metal Axxe RAIDER. Where and what information can I find about this guitar by its serial number? Somebody knows?
IMHO Vintage went downhill from around 2013 because that was when JHS changed the body shapes (Extended the lower bout and lowered the lower horn) of their Gibson copies, to avoid litigation, so they could expand into the US, the biggest guitar market in the World. Between 2005-13 JHS Vintage made some of the best budget copies of Gibson guitars ever available in the UK (especially if you upgrade the appointments), those guitars often come up on the secondhand here in the UK for peanuts because they remain unappreciated, other than with those in the know. You were courteous to that interloper some people would have been rude to him I'm glad you weren't though, shows you are reasonable person to me.
I hate vintage brand. I had 3 of them : a Strat that was awful with a terrible hollowed neck and very dark pickups, the heaviest Gold top Les Paul I've ever had with dark pickups and horrible unfinished frets and a cool viola bass with several electronic issues. People must be objective and honest : this is not the guitar you're going to bring to a gig or to a studio session.
I have the Vintage PGM (Peter Greene/Gary Moore) Lemon Drop reissue. It's a beast for the money (I paid £350). Does the out of phase thing. Trev Wilkinson was heavily involved in the design and spec in the early days, not so much now except providing the hardware. There are so many good value brands these days, including from the big guys, that Vintage are perhaps not quite the bargain they once were.
I saw Paul Brett touting them then a few years back I found an non distressed one for $300. I love it. Only issue I had was the thumb screw thing for the input jack was incorrect so when I first unplugged it the thing fell apart. I had the right spare piece and stuffed it back together in couple of minutes. I have gigged with it in serious heat and it held tuning nicely.
@@cechichan Two of the 3 pieces (VS6, V52 and V6 Icon) had really bad fretboard and raised frets in a way it was really unplayable, not just a minor issues, but really like 1mm higher frets than others, you could stick a paper in betwen fret and a fretboard. Inlays were polished like only on 50%, other half was scratched, looked like a half/moon, nut slots with glue... Quality control could not pass this. I was already considering if it could be a counterfight clone or not how bad it was. Worst wast the V6 icon on two spots (12th fret, 5th fret), including a major glue residues on the fretboard, and flimsy truss rod screw with a lot of white glue all around the headstock. V52 was second with only 1 bad fret on the 15th position and a lot of glue on headstock. Best of the bunch was VS6, with fairly straight neck and frets, but than again this one had serious lacquer cracks on the neck and body and to me it seemed the electronics are not good because the tone was way different than I saw on most reviews. I was soo disapointed because I fell in love with the Vintage guitars and they got very good reviews on YT too.... Could be all fixed, but honestly I never had such issues with cheaper guitars like Squier or Harley Benton, so I was not happy and returned. Probably a bummer, but three times....:( :( ? Still planning on their guitar purchase, but I must absolutely check and inspect personally. Good luck with yours!!
@@LookieChannel Mannn thats so sad to hear....im sad for u that u had to go thru that to be honest. Would be cool if mine will be okey xdd, i only owned schecter guitars( absolutly amazing brand even tho the really great ones are 800-1000$, cant speak too much about the cheaper ones). Hope u get someday a good one and come back here and share the experience :D Ill update u about mine too man, take care and play on
Ok I'm definitely subscribing. I was searching for Vintage brand guitars the previous days and you did this video. So my guitar budget is 400 max. I want either an SG or a Les Paul. So I was between Epiphone (les Paul studio alpine white or sg special p90s) and Vintage icon les Paul and SG. What do you think? (btw the vintage brand ones are also 25 - 35 bucks cheaper which is something I also consider cause as you understand I've a relatively tight budget).
This is the second review I've watched on Vintage guitars; the first reviewer did a deep dive which included looking inside at the wiring. It was atrocious! The reviewer stated it was probably the worst wiring work he'd ever seen. He included fantastic close-up photo of the wiring in question so, I saw it with my own eyes. Having said that, it played fine, but with some of the negative comments here, I think I'm going to move on to look at other brands. I should include that this decision is also influenced by the situation that Vintage appears to be focusing their market on Europe; I live on west coast of USA and there appears to be a significant price bump upward, if I'm not mistaken.
I am a semi pro player. I saw the same video you refered to and I was surprised that the guy had a problem with the workmanship. In a live situation it would be hard to tell the difference between the Vintage VHS guitars and the original Gibsons and Fenders. I own Gibsons and Fenders and some other high end brands. I also have several Vintage VHS branded guitars and I am very happy with all of them. If you get one used you can get a great deal. My 355 was a 10th of the price of a Gibson and about 90 percent as good so for 400 bucks it was a steal!. It is better than my old Gibson 325 from the 70s. The Vintage VHS guitars sound better than Epiphones and are more like the upscale Elitist models which were made in Japan. You can always upgrade the pickups and pots to improve them and then it would be really hard to tell the difference. It's always possible to get one that had been poorly finished or bad soldering but you can have that with higher end guitars too.. In the 70s Fender and Gibson struggled with quality issues and in some cases put out some pretty substandard products. I will say this. The Vintage VHS guitars stay in tune better than most Gibsons i have owned. The Wilkinson hardware is good quality and in the end if your guitar stays in tune you can pretty much fix any other short comings with these guitars but there aren't many to fix.
18:05 Seriously?! I always thought you were playing Cars by Gary Numan! xD Edit: I'm also half expecting to get r/woosh bombed because Ryan is joking about it being GnR. There's a smirk that is making me think he's joking... Also, adding link to Cars at the spot of this sound. :P ruclips.net/video/Im3JzxlatUs/видео.html
Really? That dude said “it’s got two pickups that you can change in three positions and you can play through an amp or PA……. I play through a PA.” WTF?!?! Thanks Mr.Rogers for explanation.
You did it! V100AFD (Appetite for Destruction). Awful strings and frets needed some love from luthier, but besides that sounds great as for this price. You can find people doing G 'n' R covers on them. You can always replace pups for DiMarzio Super Distortion for bridge and PAF for neck and you're set to go with Led Zeppelin or Kiss.
He complains about the single ply pickguard. Little does he know that vintage In tandem with John Hornsby are building these as close as can be to the original series. Which means that back in those tele butterscotch days they only had single ply pickguard. The necks, electronics are as the original.
Every single Vintage brand guitar I have came across was great quality right out of the box. I have their translucent blond Jazzmaster with P90's and it is on par with any Jazzmaster currently made at any price point. Wilkinson has made great parts for many years. It only makes sense that their guitars would be great.
Bought a vintage brand v6 reissued strat last December online, sold it after 3 months with a heavy loss, the quality control was really very bad to be honest, built n finish felt really cheap action was high and lowering it was almost impossible, fret buzz, fret sprout etc only the pick up was good.
I’ve been eyeing the Vintage V6HFTB for a while. It’s an alder body flamed maple tobacco sunburst top, maple neck rosewood fingerboard HSS Strat style guitar with a side output jack, pearloid pickguard and Wilkinson hardware (pickups, Vintage style trem, tuners) for $500. I’ve decided that I’ve got to try one of these someday, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Vintage has slowly reached a price level where it is no longer competition to Epi. My 2004 VS6 was a shocking €230 brand new, and way better than the Epiphone SG. But Epiphone has improved as well, changed their headstock shape, and they are licensed by Gibson. Since Vintage changed the SG horns shape to more uneven, I lost interest.
with an SG get a super cheap epi or copy, skip the higher end SG copies save up a little more and get a real Gibson SG used, even the faded series ones from the past, SGJs can go pretty cheap used too and they are killer all light years better than high end epis and copies, the real cheap sg copies are killer for the price
All guitars can stay in tune with a little lubricant on the nut and saddles. It’s not uncommon for guitars at namm to be a bit tuning unstable because they usually have new strings and they have been traveling
I love the vintage brand! So good! The only issue I’ve even seen when I’ve played them is some fret sprout, but that’s fixable and it happens with all guitars.
Had several of these over the years and they’ve never disappointed, the lemon drop in particular sounds terrific

I've got a Les Paul Lemon Drop and I love it! I want a telecaster now, the Icon 62.
I got a Vintage LP Gold Top copy new 11 years ago. Still as good now as it was then. I do like the colour of that "SG".
How was the neck dive on the SG from this brand?
Also, another great vid bud, keep it up, and appreciate ya.
cheers.
The headstock looks much more better than a Epiphone one.
You may be able to purchase new riffs at Riff City Music. 😄
Vintage make great guitars. I have 2 an LP and a Tele. I've had the Tele for 19 years. My oldest guitar.
Been curious to try out their LP Junior copies. I know they’re basically identical to the HB version, but I prefer Vintage’s finish options.
I have three i think all les pauls , yes their models have different pickups for different sounds . The lemon drop is something else pgm model.
Dear Ryan;
So excited to see this Vintage line up video. So the blue guitar was more Gibson/ Epiphone clone than Ampeg Clone. I like it. Cheap guitar gets either gets modded or stupidly heavy strings. (Let's be honest: Both!).
Thank You for the Video.
Sincerely Mike B. B. From Philly
Funny thing is I was doing some research into these a while ago. Interested to hear your perspective
Oh no, it sounds muddy on the bridge pickup then, that sucks.
Should have bought a gretsch instead!
Vintage make quality guitars to be fair
The gold top p90 is especially beautiful.they use decent timbers and Wilkinson pick ups . All together they make solid guitars and you really can't fault them.
Did the slightly offset sg body do anything for ya? I mean practically, in terms of playability
I honestly didn’t even notice until I was editing the video lol
Amazing job , but I think the most important things to do is to adjust the sound of the amplifier , your adjustments is a bit high bass and the distortion was a bit low and also it depends on the kind of amp your using . but overall very well explained , Thank you
Does the guy in the green shirt think we are stupid?. We know about 3way selector, volume, etc.
Absolutely love them. My local shop has them. You should really try their 335 style guitar. 😁😁
What is a Original Issue Versus a Reissue for the SG copy?
they sell any riffs on ebay? I'm looking for buy it now auctions.
If you want to play guitar while floating down the river then look for Riff Rafts.
Is this the same brand with the one i got
In the headstock it says "VINTAGE born in the state developed in japan" ? Thanks
You LIKE a bit of Garry Neuman hey?
Hi , I have a Vintage Brand guitar VR-2000EMB Metal Axxe RAIDER. Where and what information can I find about this guitar by its serial number? Somebody knows?
I have the les Paul and the sg as well.
How’s the tuning stability on those guitars?
I've tried them and every one had bad frets. Compared to them the Cort guitars cost less and are better quality in my opinion.
I have the V6 strat is my number one.
I gots the samw one.600 bucks
I saw Paul Brett touting them then a few years back I found an non distressed one for $300. I love it. Only issue I had was the thumb screw thing for the input jack was incorrect so when I first unplugged it the thing fell apart. I had the right spare piece and stuffed it back together in couple of minutes. I have gigged with it in serious heat and it held tuning nicely.
que multiefectos usaste al final del video?
That gun to your head and you have to buy a guitar thing happens to me all the time.
Once Had a L120 the Junior Style once. I liked it playing wise, but one Pickup is Not enough for me.
That lp though does look killer.
Great looking tele
@8:41 his voice says "feel free to come up and talk to me" but his eyes say NO! don't do that :-D
I liked how much that looks like my guild. That brand is so hard to look up
I own V52 Distressed Tele and V65 (JM style). Love Vintage brand.
That is a gorgeous guitar. And it looks good on ya. I realize you are a Surfdog but the SG style looks good.
What was the amp you were playing through?
Line 6 hx stomp
I've a V100 from years back and its a keeper!
Has to be the same factory as LTD and Harlry Benton. Their SG and lespaul body shapes/heel cuts are the same
look decent, headstocks are cool, better than some epiphone headstocks and many others i liked the tele
what are you playing through
I like the tone of Vintage guitars soooo much...but had to return all 3 pieces I bought for unplayable quality controls :-(
bummer
@@60CycleHumcast exactly. But that blue SG makes me intrigued for a 4th try :D
what were the probs u found? mine has to arrive next week and to know what to check on it :d
Hope u get someday a good one and come back here and share the experience :D Ill update u about mine too man, take care and play on
The SG sounds great.

@@johnsaunders2822 I believe it is Vintage JHS (John Hornby Skewes)
18:05 Seriously?! I always thought you were playing Cars by Gary Numan! xD
Edit: I'm also half expecting to get r/woosh bombed because Ryan is joking about it being GnR. There's a smirk that is making me think he's joking...
Also, adding link to Cars at the spot of this sound. :P

Really? That dude said “it’s got two pickups that you can change in three positions and you can play through an amp or PA……. I play through a PA.” WTF?!?! Thanks Mr.Rogers for explanation.
He was joking, that was colt from walrus audio, he’s a goof ball and I love that about him.
@@60CycleHumcast yeah I unfortunately didn’t recognize him at first. I’m dumb.😔😩
Own a Vintage V52 (Teli style) Love it!
360 CYCLE HUM
Nice job Ryan. Thanks!
I'm pretty happy with my used cherry red VS6. Such a fast neck.
I have one too and that neck is fast!
Yes they are
I’ve been eyeing the Vintage V6HFTB for a while.
Since Vintage changed the SG horns shape to more uneven, I lost interest.
yea almost $500 for a no name SG..i'll pass.
with an SG get a super cheap epi or copy, skip the higher end SG copies save up a little more and get a real Gibson SG used, even the faded series ones from the past, SGJs can go pretty cheap used too and they are killer all light years better than high end epis and copies, the real cheap sg copies are killer for the price
Maybe the Achilles heel to these guitars is their lack of being able to stay in tune!
All guitars can stay in tune with a little lubricant on the nut and saddles. It’s not uncommon for guitars at namm to be a bit tuning unstable because they usually have new strings and they have been traveling
I like it it's like a offset SG
I think Colt had a morning edible... cause when are Tele's NOT six-strings?
