There are many disadvantages of this - 1) It encourages parties to hoard money of developmental projects to use it as freebies in election. 2) This would discourage the taxpayers as they feel that the purpose of the tax is not met. 3) Free of various items like electricity , etc hits the company hard as they are the major looser in this. 4) The politics than would be based on the freebies culture rather than the develop of the country. 5) it's unnecessary wastage of resources as the commodities are not going in the right hand but rather it's misused are go to those who don't need them . So politics should be there on the basis of work done by them on infrastructure development, education, healthcare, social responsibility etc rather than cash in hand politics because the latter is disastrous in the long run.

Freebies are not a new culture in India, it has been existing after independence to fulfil the motive of the political parties to win the election at any cost. At present every political parties who is fighting election they always been promising to give freebies to the masses, this has been become the number one formula to winning the election. If we see our several invites run by the govt time to time for the upliftment of the BPL families, that is not a freebies, it is a welfare scheme. we have to understand that freebies and welfare scheme has a very thin line, where freebies are almost for all despite the fact that everyone is not required. One of the major schemes is pds where we distribute food grain at a very low price to poor people. All initiatives which have for the upliftment of the underprivileged person that is not a freebies. We have to specify that whom to give such benefits and whom to not. If an individual has the capacity to pay for the service then we have to exclude such persons from the free schemes. The negative impact of freebies is that it has a hidden charge which we have to pay via a different route, which ultimately exerts a burden on the masses. Here we have to understand that good governance with good politics has to run simultaneously.
