Thank you! I am an ATC horder of about 30 Honda ATC's, about half of which have faded and dried fenders. I haven't replaced them with Maiyer, because nothing is nicer than OEM. Now I know EXACTLY what to do to start restoring these ATC fenders properly. I have hesitated because everyone I have talked to over the years all suggests razor blades, heat guns, and even spray paint! No thanks. your process is superior! Result speaks for itself. Now, hopefully I can get through restoring half my bikes before I'm dead! Thanks again.
Wow this is amazing I have tried before different compounds and always get like a satin finish Never imagined that just a dry wool pad works perfect. 👍
I did a ton of wet sanding on my Yamaha blasters plastics. All I need is access to one of those buffers you had used at the end!!! Right now I have some really smoothed out matte finished blue plastics….
I’ve had pretty good luck on that final finish with a good grade of compound, just rub it in with an applicator and take it off with a buffing pad on a polisher.
Great video. I cant imagine being the person doing that intense work every day. Definitely would need a chiropractor and a massage after a week's worth of work. Lol. Great content
El vídeo me pareció muy interesante y es el mejor de tantos que es visto muchas gracias por compartir tu conocimientos hermano,!!!!pero te quiero hacer una pregunta, ¿qué tipo de pasta o será usa hay final, para sacar brillo?
use a heat gun and heat the plastic up on the underside where the dents are and then use a nail bent at a 90 and push the hot soft plastic from the underside to the good side where the dents are . It will look good and should have a bump on the good side and all you have to do is sand the part down to where it needs to be then finish the fender as you are. This way you do not have so much time in it and you have a thicker plastic
@@darestorations We use it in auto on plastics and we use an additive that allows it’s to flex however being on a dirt bike might be a little to much flexing not to mention it looks great without it
80% of cars have a fender skirt that’s is plastic painted and rarely do they chip or peel. People know what their doing with cars and they wouldn’t give a warranty or even put it on the car if the paint peeled. Cars run and vibrate a lot more than a dirt bike. They go through this daily with no issues
Shit man thx so much for this, i had no idea i could just take a wool buffer pad dry to my fenders to buff the sunfaded colour back. Hot damn i cant wait to try this. I dont even care about the few scratches on my honda, i just want the shine back!

Thanks for the video- I had some success sanding and buffing but never went far enough with the process I learned alot from this video.Thank you !!
Wow this is amazing

👍
Thank you, this really answered how you bring these plastics back to looking new
I never thought a no compound wool pad would do such wonders!

Polishing is the finishing touch
That’s come up shiny as
Nice work
Awesome work! Best video out of tons I’ve watched 🤘🏼
Thank you so much! That was super informative. Also, you guys do great work.

You'd be surprised, after a few weeks of doing this kind of body work, your muscles adapt. That first 2 weeks is hell tho lol
Thanks. I've got a 250R rear fender to polish and now I know what I'm in for--wow that's a lot of work. The polishing pad was wool?
El vídeo me pareció muy interesante y es el mejor de tantos que es visto muchas gracias por compartir tu conocimientos hermano,!!!!pero te quiero hacer una pregunta, ¿qué tipo de pasta o será usa hay final, para sacar brillo?
No paste. Just polish with dry wool pad.
@@darestorations muchísimas gracias hermano bendiciones desde Jarabacoa city RD
No agregas ningún pulidor para sacar brillo?
Are you using a foam pad with the sand paper wrapped around it when hand sanding or is that a hard block?
Foam pad and change sandpaper as needed
Do u have a link to that polish flap disc?
No. Sorry. Just something my local paint shop supplies
Nice video guys😊
Thank you 😀
how do you sand and polish fenders? Nice video.
Covered all the basics here. Obviously you gotta go much more in depth for perfection.
He just showed you. Try to pay attention slow one
Great video, Does this process work with fenders burned by the sun?
Yes in most cases. Just gotta cut them down much deeper.
Will this work on aftermarket plastics like Maier?
Sometimes.
After this is done, how long does it last?
do you wax it after?
Last until you scratch it again
@@darestorations Nice, thanks for the reply

None
@@darestorations thanks been a automotive painter for 25 years and had no idea that this could be done u r awesome
You know that Meguiars make a plastic polish that we use on our aircraft windshields. It might be worth looking into? Jus saying
@@thomassewell6281 thanks for the information well look in to it
What's the model/brand of the polishing wheel you use on the grinder at the end of the video?
Not sure. Just something I pickup at my local paint shop. Just a bare wool pad.
Does the pneumatic sander you use have an oribtal pattern, or is it spinning / rotating?
Orbital. Spinning would eat too deep
Man I’m so glad that I found your site, so lus Instagram. Hope to see ya one day. I need to find my 250R or purchase a Tecate from ya…..
What is the final polishing disc made of?
Wool

Best job I’ve seen yet! Last thing is clear coat that fender and it will last forever and easier to buff out in the future
No. Absolutely not. It would chip and peel in no time.

@@zackk695tried it once….once. Chipped and pealed as stated. Looked terrible after a while. Too much flexing and abuse from branches, brush etc.

Yep. Pretty easy to get some shine back buffing them
Does this trick also make faded plastics shiny again?
If you follow the process it will work on most plastics.
