I wish I could give you a thousand thumbs up! I just removed and replaced my Broan Bathroom Fan/Light! I’m a 65 yr old female and with this video it was extremely easy.
Thanks that helped. Ordered a new blower wheel for my QT140E-B. Any hints on installing that on the motor? Had to cut the last one off. It had separated at the bottom and was making a racket.
Good Morning Daniel, We are happy this video was helpful to you. The blower wheel is force/friction fit onto the motor shaft. It will need to be pushed on very hard to install. If you need more assistance, please give our Product Support team a call at 800-637-1453 or email from the Contact Us page on our website.
Hi! The people working on my bathroom ceiling somehow lost the screw and acorn nut that attaches the reflector. The replacement part for a 679-LA is either out of stock or a ridiculously high price for one screw and nut. I don’t have the funds for a new unit. Mine works fine. How do I get access to even get a screw in that area! Thank you.
Thank you for your question. The Grille Acorn nut for the 679L-A is a #10-24 and the stud/screw is a #10-24 x 3/4". You should be able to find this at your local hardware store if you are finding these parts out of stock online. I am unsure of your question on access to the area as the reflector should be installed with no bulb and there would be no obstruction to work around. Here is a link to the install manual for the current 679 for you to reference. The grille installation would be similar to the 679L-A: broan-nutone.com/getmedia/247e66e2-ae9e-4756-adf0-55d2de042942/Installation-Guide-678-679.pdf?ext=.pdf
@@BroanNuToneLLC thank you very much! I really appreciate it! Next time someone works on my house I’m going to make sure parts of things they have to dismantle don’t get lost!
For the QTRN110 model. What the best way to replace the motor/fan? Do you know of a repair kit for these QTRN110 models? What I understand just the motor needs to be replaced on these things?
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, there is no upgrade kit for the QTRN110 at this time. The replacement fan assembly for your model is part number S97020971. This includes the motor, blower wheel and mounting plate assembled as one piece for a simpler repair.
Hello and thank you for your question. There are three different housing sizes shown in this video. The M-can measures 9-1/4" x 10". The N-can measures 10-1/2" x 11-3/8", and the J-can measures 8" x 8-1/4". You should be able to determine if your housing size matches one of these and follow the video for that model. If you need more assistance, please contact our Product Support team directly at 800-637-1453.
Thank you for your question. We would not recommend removing the motor from the assembly or soaking the fan blade or mounting plate. Generally, we simply recommend vacuuming the assembly with the dusting attachment or wiping the unit down with a cloth. If you have additional questions, please reach out to our Product Support Team at 800-637-1453.
I just need to find the model number on mine so that I can hire an electrician to replace it. Do I need to shut off the breaker, or just shut the bathroom light switches? I do not want to get electrocuted. Thanks, if you can respond.
The model number of your Broan-NuTone fan should be found up, inside the housing (metal can in the ceiling/wall) on a specification label. The cover will need to be removed to view this label. On older models, the label may be located on the motor mounting plate. You will not be in contact with any wiring when removing the grille cover.
@@BroanNuToneLLC Hi, I'm too afraid to take down anything more than the plastic cover that covers the lightbulb. Perhaps you can instruct me as to how to measure the outside of the fan/light to match it up with something online??? Maybe I'll have to purchase 2 different units, and let the electrician decide which is the correct one? Thanks for the response!!
Thank you for your question allkindsamusicchick. It may be difficult to determine the housing size based on the size of the grille cover only. If you would like to reach out to us directly via email from our Contact Us page on our website or call our Product Support team at 800-637-1453, we can try to offer some assistance. We can also request pictures to help determine which model you have installed.
Good Morning, Thank you for commenting. We do not recommend removing the fan blade on our units. We simply suggest taking the dusting attachment for the vacuum and knocking off the excess or, if you prefer, using a dry wash cloth to wipe the dust off of the motor and fan blade.
The finial nut should simply unscrew to remove the shade. If you need more assistance, please contact Technical at 800-637-1453 for U.S. or 800-567-3855 for Canada.
Unfortunately, the problem you are describing can be common. We suggest two things in this situation. One - if you do not already have a roof/wall cap with a built-in back draft damper, you may want to consider one. This can help to double your protection against the elements. It is the job of the roof/wall cap to prevent the air from returning down through the duct work.
The second option would be to add a piece of foam or felt at the point where the flapper hits the damper. This can help to soften the noise you are hearing.
The wind is something that just cannot be controlled and on extremely windy or stormy days, you may still experience this situation.
We do suggest that you contact our Technical Support Department should you have further questions or concerns. They can be reached at 800-637-1453. Technical is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm CST.
