    Old midwest downtowns are something to behold. Lincoln has a nice airport also.

      Oddly enough my dad actually managed that airport in the early sixties….we lived in a mobile home just behind the office. My earliest memories of it are of my brother and I scampering about the grounds, cornfields, and hangars. Orange crush from the old timey soda cooler. Weekly random airplane rides in the piper cub. A magical beginning for my life.

    I had a nearly idyllic childhood growing up in the Lincoln circa 1960-1968 (for me 2-9 yrs old). It’s sad to see its decline, while I recognized some things, the college (my mom worked there), some of the downtown things, the cobblestone streets, it looks nothing like it used to.

    Lived there for about 14 years. Really enjoyed the video and old land marks.

      it wasn't- too many drunkies, all the places are closed or close to it, its a sad shell of its former glory.

      It used to be when I was growing up there back in the late 70s/80s. Once the 90s hit, Lincoln really went downhill especially with the closing of LDC.

      I consider Lincoln (13,200) to be a Big City LOL. I grew up in a town of only 2,200. All relative to what you are accustomed to and prefer.

    Lincoln isn’t as small, it’s like a mini city

      what's the difference between a small town and a mini city?

    • @smoky1953
      @smoky1953 2 месяца назад

      Population and square miles makes the difference. Despite businesses closing, our population has grown to almost 16,000. Plus we had THREE universities, not one. Both Lincoln University and Lincoln Christian University have closed their doors. Heartland is still up and running.
