- Latonya Collier needed a topic for a college research paper. Her great aunt pointed her in a direction that would become a passion project. Latonya learned her great-great grandfather was the first Black man to die in Indiana's electric chair --- a device he had helped to build.
AN INDIANAPOLIS WOMAN IS SHINING A LIGHT ON A DARK PART OF HER FAMILY HISTORY.
HER DISTANT RELATIVE HELPED CREATE THE VERY DEVICE THAT WOULD END HIS LIFE.
He came back to tell you to take a closer look. Something was not right.
Most average people during those times, only had an elementary education, no matter the skin color. RIP King. Blessings Sis and may you find MORE of your ancestral Indigenous history.
He didn't died, they killed him.
they murdered him, and many educated blacks still died unjustly
This should definitely be a movie.God bless you young lady 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💯
A badass in the family history. I think everyone has one in their ancestry.
I bet he was innocent.
Exactly.😔🤬✊🏾⚖️
Most likely
None of your ancestors were innocent. That's for sure...
@@japhya0378 You assume my race ... I'm sure
And you know that how that ALL of them guilty??????
This is so very sad
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow. How awful. Proud of u Queen for doing the research!
I'm thinking that cop was heavy handed and it was self defense.
Empirical evidence has shown that children who know their family history are better postured for success in life; they know whose examples to emulate and whose to avoid.
Latonya has taken a deep dive into her family history, and is better for having done so for all sorts of reasons.
That is so evil to make prisoners to build the electronic hair
More than likeky innocent as well.
The picture looks very modern
She actually look a lot like her great-great grandfather..
No she doesn’t…
@@lilablue4066 you have the right to an opinion
Wow, what a story
SELF DEFENSE
Why self defense? Everyone was told to leave the scene. He wouldn’t. That’s he’s only mistake but why call it upon himself????
Damn! be careful what you say!
Deep. Very deep.
That's unfortunate 😅
What's funny I don't see where the joke is?
@@deronlouis88louis52 no body is laughing
@deronlouis88louis52 you must be one of the older individuals this is a laughing imojj🤣and this is a awkward imojj😅
@ifeelbetterabouthis.louis3
Someone dying in the electric chair is a little more than "awkward".
Get some social skills for crying out loud 😅
@doriancoreyscloset421 The awkward part is knowing that he's related to you. I'd find it awkward if I was in her position. Oh How many people do you talk and interact with on a daily basis, or are you one of those? I don't have time to stop and talk stooges.
I’ve read all of the comments to date, it is very sad about the hateful racist comments. We all must know our past, or we are doomed to repeat it
Yes exactly, and the truth is we all came from Africa, everyone on the planet our ancestors were Black and from Africa.
@@Sweetlyfe 100%. People may not like the thought of a black Jesus, but I BELIEVE ❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️🔥
angry becuse someone else came up with a great invention that would pushed him into the future and be remembered for it.
I don't understand your statement, please expound.
😢
Lived in Evansville for many years never heard of this story but he’s not the first person its all bad know matter skin color.
The spirit world is real and they do communicate in dreams. That's why you should never move into a house someone died in.
Damn shame.
It's told be careful of the words you speak about yourself....here is clear evidence...He joked about been the first to be executed in his chair....N sure thing it manifested itself clear as day!...
Why is this noteworthy?
grow up... stop the sarcastic comments...
@@runoz2839. 'sarcastic'?
Because it's not about Satan's babysitters..
@@tomwittner1490 yes. why wouldn't it be ? just cuz it may not be to you, doesn't mean it's not to someone, no matter who it is....
@@runoz2839. Sir or madam.....being executed in an electric chair in itself is a very grievous penalty and the fact that a black man was the recipient of such a harsh penalty does not make it notable or memorable, for me anyway. Personally, I would not want it known that a relative of mine went to the electric chair, as in a good many of these cases the recipient of this penalty is usually guilty of an unspeakable crime.
A hundred years later and they still cant comply.
A hundred years later and they are still "SLAVE PATROLLING "!
This is such a sick comment.
I bet you're in the hood right now looking for 8 inches to blow.
You are hateful,,,sad
Uh, i see. Your names says it all. KAREN.
Let me guess, she wants reparations for this.
Crt is real! This is why
You can guess as much as you want if that makes your ignorant way if life better. But she didn’t say it so don’t spread fake narratives.
Let me guess you ride the short bus since you can't listen and comprehend a 4 minute video.
Amazing
