Why is everybody scared of Dubai??? I live near Dubai and it is as safe as any city and extremely modern. You can’t say you don’t want to come to Dubai because it is in desert with a few skyscrapers. First of all, Dubai is leading the world skyscraper construction and secondly, LA was also built on a desert and LA has a few skyscrapers. It is wrong to judge a place because of their religion or geography (especially religion).

This is why I would never visit any country under Islamic law. Many of their laws aren't even dictated by the Qu'ran, but by the government. Fully dressed and still get questioned? Oh, maybe ur hiding drugs? Any excuse to harass women. If there were drugs, it's likely from their land. Maybe a burqa would've been better. Oh, wait..a non Muslim woman wearing one would probably be considered to be insulting to Islam, they'll find an excuse to arrest anyone who is not from their country.

    Concerning the city in Mexico:
Even if you don't have the money to leave- just do it! I did. What I did was left the dangerous city for my families safety, became homeless for a 1/2 year, got an address from one of those PO Box places, saved every penny I could though any kind of work I could fine and recycling, we ate like crap for a while but... Eventually, I was able to save up enough for a crappy apartment in the most ghetto part of town. Once I established a place to live I worked on getting a steady job and so on. I did this as a single Mom w/2 kids. It can be done, just takes the will to want a better life. My kids are now grown and appreciate the hard work I did on their behalf.
You don't need to leave your home country to make a better life, just a new city with new opportunities.

I have a friend who lives in Mumbai. That city could really benefit by building massive recycling centers. Not only would much of their waste be recycled into new products, but these centers would employ thousands of unskilled workers who are currently unemployed. Additionally, much of their waste is compostable, which would benefit public parks and gardens. Perhaps poor families could have kitchen gardens in places where garbage was dumped historically?

We have so many ways to cure the problems we are facing, but corruption, hooliganism and the sheer not-my-backyard attitude always dampens the work effort. Add to that the monumental rate at which the city and it's population is growing, only worsens the situation.

What Rio de Janeiro needs to ask is why are there so many homeless children??? Are the parents or parent just abandoning them?? Do they not have orphanages??? Not that an orphanage would be great, but they would know they will receive 3 meals a day, an education, and a bed every night. This is absolutely horrible, especially because so many Latin populations are Roman Catholic. I cannot remember off the top of my head what book and verse in the Bible that says it, but it states that a community should always feed and take care of the widows and orphans..... Wake up Rio!!!!!!!

No birth control ( because heavily Roman Catholic), widespread desperate poverty, and high numbers of people living in slums with little/no sanitation. That's a recipe for churning out lots of children before dying horribly from preventable diseases and leaving those children orphaned.

The problem with Rio goes much deeper than what is mentioned in the video. I do respect his opinion but it is biased. Rio is a bankrupt city within a bankrupt state (of the same name), and I mean morally and financially broken, corrupt to the core of it's institutions and values (with a few exceptions), universities filled with communists whose single preoccupation is to brainwash future generations, get money from government and use drugs. The downfall started with a communist governor (Leonel Brizola) during the 80's and seems to have no end in sight. It's a failed city and a failed state. To blame the police for the crimes committed is like blaming the rope for the hanging. It's just a shallow and biased point of view. By the way, I am Brazilian.

They gave China a, communist country all the manufacturing while giving India call centres so they can call people at home and piss them off. This has given the west's biggest enemy ( communism ) super power status.
Once again the west has bit off their nose to spite their face and India once again will have to come to their aid. Not China or ( Pakistan, another western creation to hold India back from her true position as a global leader ) .

I might gently suggest a re-evaluation here. I think it's fair to say that a LOT of cities have garbage problems--pollution has been a global concern for decades--but that thing about Johannesburg? I don't know whether to weep or puke. Never mind a bad city, that sounds like one of the outer circles of hell. Much worse than too much garbage, Simon.

I strongly agree polluting air and trash will stop may be in few years once these cities develop their infrastructure and waste management gradually. But I fear there will be more baby raping and serial killers in the future as these are happening in the worlds best developed cities as you have mentioned. Pollution and trash will kill so many people but its a slow poisoning. How about killing a baby or an innocent girl by the serial killers. It just happens in no time. So, I grew up in London and also live here now. I'm also pretty knowledgeable about crime stats. London is boring and has a small town mentality and is very conservative in it's attitude. The crime has always been lower than average per capita than most Canadian cities, which means much lower than US cities. The only crime problem London ever really had was home break-ins. The serial killer thing was completely hidden from the citizens of London until just a few years ago. London has always averaged between 0 and 10 murders per year which is very low for a city of 400,000 people. London is actually a beautiful city and is know for an abundance of trees. It's nickname is The Forest City. My theory as to why the serial killers, is the fact that it is very close to 3 US border crossings so maybe it was Americans fleeing the law and settling here.

Cité Soleil, Haiti "Poorest slum in the poorest country in the western hemisphere" doesn't begin to describe it. Can pretty much combine the worst parts of more than half your list all in this one small place. And the larger Port-au-Prince area isn't really much better.

That’s why Godzilla is kinda their unofficial mascot. He even has citizenship. No for real, he was legit granted citizenship by the Japanese government.

Shout out to the 519. We made the list! But in all seriousness I've lived in London for 41 years and I haven't been murdered even once.

Even Kinshasa is OK for middle / upper class folks. These things matter in lower middle class and below.

It's pretty sad when Flint, with all it's major problems that definitely make it a place you wouldn't want to go, isn't on a list like this because there's places that are worse!
