Phones are made with capacitors which buffer power so there is no reason to do that. Phone batteries heat up when charging and being hot this lowers their life so you are actually damaging your devices. Please just use the proper charger for your phone. Fast charging saves battery life.

Don't discard the Hard drive enclosure. I also have 1 for my HDD as I switched my laptop drive with an SSD. So now I use it as an external drive, plug it in the enclosure. Buy an SSD
