- One of Overwatch 2 maps is the second coming of Ecopoint Antarctica in the form of a new KOTH map. While it's one of Overwatch's most unique maps, it's also one of the most controversial, with confusing maze-like pathing, large expanses of rarely used space, and health packs that feel impossible to find. Coach Spilo removes the veil of confusion around all three points, offering tips and tricks for a better experience in ranked (or casual) play!

I like that this map sort of has a common theme. On all three maps there is a powerful shared highground over point that brawl characters have an easier time taking but poke characters benefit more from having. Icebreaker deviates from this a bit since the highground is so low, but the "common highground over point" design is still there. It makes strategizing between rounds easier, since if you for example lost the first round you sort of already know how the other team will play the second round even though it's on a different map.
Dude, i needed this. I think i understood alot of the obvious advantages of the map design, but the explination for other playstyles and use of the zones of the map is so helpful
Guide comes out when the map is disabled
Came here to say this lol. Will still be useful in the future though
why did they disable it
cant win
@@ty-xq7blglitch with genji where if he does some weird spawn stuff the dragon animation on his ult gets spammed and makes everyone lag really heavily
2:31 As a Ball main, these Megas are SO fantastic, to the point that I would argue this is easily his best KotH map in the game. Boop people off high ground and just grind Mines, and you should be able to win a fight with just the one ult.
6:12 Ugh, this point is tough to take, I see brawl and turret spam comps here all the time.
But assuming you win a fight, the wonky space from spawn to point also gives you a lot of options for stalling and guerilla tactics, nice horizontal winding roads for easy roll throughs, 2 close megas for sustain and a convenient ledge for Piledrivers make it super simple to spawn camp a target or even two on your own pretty consistently.
You have to be proactive here, because if the enemy team gets back on point, you're probably going to lose outright because of the low ceiling hampering your movement.
These defenders tactics are effective on all three maps to an extent, but this one is probably my favorite for it.
12:25 Oh dear Lord, this place.
It feels complicated and difficult to traverse, so I would suggest loading it with infinite cooldowns and experiment with manuevers.
But to save you some time, if you learn 13:40 THIS Piledriver spot (jump off the yellow crate then recovery Piledriver onto the platform) and 13:55 THIS Mega flank up the stairs on the opposing side, you're already at a huge advantage.
I almost never take the jump pad Mega from point, I only ever wrap around to it from coast, because it's a straight line to the pad from point, in a tight hallway where you can't evade that well, which means you often die before you can make it out. If you're going that way, you might as well go for the stairs Mega from point, it's a much safer option unless you know it's Hacked or something.
If you see Supports or DPS sitting on that high ground, the platform above point or the stairs just off to the side, you need to constantly contest them. This shouldn't be too difficult in a vacuum, I see a lot of frail spam characters, snipers and Supports here, and just about every Tank here *except* for Ball.
I haven't been able to consistently make use of stall tactics here, because unless I missed one, the health pack placement is pretty sparce close to spawn, and too many different heroes get picked here to pull it off very often, so you have to stay on the far sides closer to point, which can go wrong pretty easily if you don't use the stairs mega, which can make you predictable.
I hope this helps another baller out there, at least a little. Good luck on the new patch my friend, it's gonna be a doozy. :D
Thank you!!! Great guide--
I was looking for some maps tour like this, it’s great thank you sm!
I always like to see interactive stuff in the map like the bounce pads... shame they made it so needlessly irrelevant
i honestly hate gimmicks in maps and im glad theyre useless. Just look at valorants maps. that shit never adds anything, but rather frustrates
I honestly didn’t know that spot on the last map even existed lmao
Thank you for this guide! This map pool has always felt odd, and subsequently, uncomfortable for me to play on at higher SR
This map was definitely made for the new flashpoint gamemode where there would be multiple points opening up. I can imagine points opening up in the massive flank spaces and unused spaces.
If they removed the glass window from the weird area of sublevel, it could maybe be used as some cheeky soldier angle
That weird area with the jump pad and mega does have one use, when you're playing Tracer/Sombra it's a great place to hide and wait when everyone on your team dies except for you (which happens a lot on these heroes). Also I've had several Tracer 1v1's end up there somehow.
Babe wake up, new REMOVE THE GLASS Spilo meme just dropped
I'm a silver tracer, and this map is my nightmare. I have no clue how to survive, especially since the team doesn't communicate or work together.
I wish we could use that poetuon of the Antarctica map that's urrently wasted... It's so beautiful.
these control maps have so many tight halls and chokes, im always a little lost on how to play them
I love the icebreaker one, it's brawly which i love. The labs are also great but that sublevel one sucks so fucking hard. Probably the second worst control point after ilios well
I had no idea there was a jump pad on that point, why the fuck would they put it there?
Yo
🤙
I hate this map it’s so blue and non descript, every zone feels interchangeable
i fucking hate 2nd point so much
God this map sucks
even god had better creations than this
