    I used to work as a B&B foreman on the former BCRail line and maintenance on two trestle bridges( Australian and Alexandria) required 6 men full time. Late 1970’s

    Thanks! Surprised this trestle hasn't burned. That was the fate of most Western wooden trestles.

    Thanks for returning. That trestle is a major human achievement especially since it took only a year to construct. Your views of it's underside are unique. Very interesting artifacts you found in the tunnels.

    A good thing that you have documented the trestle, who knows how long it will be standing. An engineering marvel to say the least.

    That's such a great trail to hike. Reminds me of a western movie. But somehow it looks a bit creepy to walk on this old trestle, but at least you did it together, I guess alone it would be a more "strange" atmosphere. Great impressions. Thank you for sharing man. Have a great week. Best wishes, Mario

    The reason for the bicycle find Is simple. Somebody got a flat tire and said " to hell with this big ole POS,. I'm not dragging this thing back with me". And so they chucked it over the edge

    I am curious to know about the vertical wood members of this 180 ft high Railroad trestle. It looks like they’re made from lodgepole pine trees but I didn’t think they grew that tall. Perhaps next time you go there you can zoom in on the vertical members and see if there’s any joining steel plates or anything that hold them together if they’re single pieces of wood?

    The bristlecones grow on the north facing inclines probably because it's more out of the sun and they take advantage of the moisture there.

    Very cool. I have seen videos of this trestle before but never from down below it. One of the videos I saw did go over to tunnel 15 though and went in as far as they could. --- That bicycle was a bit off. It didn't look like it had been there very long.

    • @WesternMineDetective
      @WesternMineDetective  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for that! I've been on both sides of Tunnel 15, the first one I did out here I checked out the side near the trestle and just last video I went all the way to where it's collapsed. We sure thought it was weird. It wasn't there the week before so it was only a couple days old.

      @@WesternMineDetective: The video I saw of someone going in tunnel 15 on the end toward the trestle was probably you. Seems it's been quite a while back, like a year or more ago. Though I could be mistaken; I've had a few strokes recently so keeping track of timelines tend to get a bit scrambled.

    Hi Jerith, congratulations on reaching 5k, that's awesome. The photo's you took at the bottom were stunning, I bet not many people have attempted to reach the bottom of the trestle so those are some very unique shots. Have you ever been up to the abandoned tunnel that was washed out ?? Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤

    • @WesternMineDetective
      @WesternMineDetective  2 года назад +1

      Hey Sue, thanks for that! I haven't seen many pics if any at all from the bottom of the trestle so I figured I'd give it a try. Even if I was tired as hell by the time I got there. And yes, I've been on both ends of the original Tunnel 15. My first video I did of this trestle well over a year ago I checked out the end near the trestle. Back then it didn't have any signs of graffiti. Thanks for watching as always!!

    Bicycle, I've been riding them for decades. I have a feeling that bike 🚲🚲 Rider didn't have a patch kit, for possibly two flat tires. So they left it instead of pushing it back. Who knows.
