We actually know why Shanks wasn't there sooner. According to a previous Marines report (I forget if it was after Amazon Lilly or Impel Down), we learned that Kaido, another one of the 4 emperors, was attempting to strike at White Beard's rear and Shanks was basically stopping Kaido from doing so.

A friend of mine came up with a weird but accurate analogy of Marineford’s timeline. Blackbeard is the ▶️ button. He defeated and captured Ace, then sent him to the marines. He basically started everything. Koby is the ⏸ button. His tearful speech managed to halt the war for a brief moment. An act of bravery for temporary peace. Shanks is the ⏹ button. Everyone and everything stops as soon as he arrives. His presence alone made both the pirates and the marines withdraw from the fight. *_Funny part is Kizaru and Aokiji still try to stop Law and his crew from leaving despite Shanks being literally a few yards away from them lol_*

That being said, emperor Kaido was looking to get something out of this war because regardless of who would win on Whitebeard Pirates VS The Marine, both sides must've suffered damage. The Marine also wouldn't want to face war on two fronts. That's why Shanks stopped Kaido to keep the balance.
Yes but WB also in a way kept even the Emperors in Check. As long as he was alive every pirate knew who sat closest to the throne. His death sparked a new era and truly started the game of thrones. Think you missed it at the beginning of Marineford...one of the reasons why the Marine could start that war was that Shanks and Kaido were already fighting each other at that time...meaning that Shanks found a way to stop his fight with Kaido AND go to Marineford with his crew...It's the story we will never have and we are really curious about !
When I watch Shank's arrival the first time, I couldn't help but be reminded of 2 kids fighting and the mother walking in and saying she will end it then.

So not only was he having a panic attack, but he was doing it while being hyper aware of everything happening around him at a much greater distance than any normal person would.
There is kind of symbolism to Whitebeard and then Teach having the Gura Gura fruit and the Marines being terrified of it, as earthquakes and tsunamis obviously are the biggest natural disasters Japan faces.

This is part of the theory that Crocodile is Luffy's mother turned male from Ivan. I mean he did not show any respect or care about Luffy. However after hearing that Luffy was the son of Dragon he got very protective and went out of his way numerous times to save Luffy for no apparent reason. Or at least thats how the theory is speculated because it does seem really odd how much Crocodiles attitude changed after Luffy's father was revealed. Also in flashbacks we see the other warlords faces when they were younger EXCEPT Crocodile who we only see from behind
18:41 Coby is the MVP of this episode. Standing in front of an Admiral, one of the most highest position of the Navy hierarchy, and telling the truth directly in his face. It's not that he realize "a bad side of the navy organisation" (4:50/16:21), but he noticed an unnecessary fight against an already beaten enemy. The Navy already accomplished their goal, executing Ace and beating Whitebeard, but they still continue fighting and wasting more soldiers.
Many criticized how Shanks stopped the war because everyone knows very little about Shanks this given time. They're all saying the plot armor on it but just look how cool his speech, dude gives me chills when I watched this.
It seems plot armoury at first. But then you realized why it becomes more possible as the story goes on with Shanks’s connection and identity. Oda is a mastermind for a reason.
The part when koby finds the necklace was so emotional for me… as someone who lost his father very early i can relate to that much more than i want. I think i never cried more in an anime than when i see that scene. I love one pieces world buildung so much. It shows us the world of to perspective of the pirates that live like they want and giving a shit of the given justice system. Since the navy are the antagonists of the series it makes you forget that the navy are actually the good guys. Beside some corrupt ones of course.
Marineford described in one word : HYPE Not my favorite arc but definitely the most hype it's so big in scale and has one great moment after the other, it doesn't stop until the end it pays off a lot of the build up we've had so far it's so satisfying to watch but it doesn't forget to give you heartfelt moments or iconic comedic ones Still I prefer ennies lobby Alabasta and WCI ( yeah I said it ) but damn it's good and it's been a pleasure watching you react to it
"How many gigachad's can one arc hold?" At least one more! And with the death of Whitebeard, Shanks might just be the ultimate gigachad in the world now. As for their relationship, they opposed each other, but also respected each other, seeing the other as a worthy foe.

Many criticized how Shanks stopped the war because everyone knows very little about Shanks this given time. They're all saying the plot armor on it but just look how cool his speech, dude gives me chills when I watched this.
It seems plot armoury at first. But then you realized why it becomes more possible as the story goes on with Shanks’s connection and identity. Oda is a mastermind for a reason.

The part when koby finds the necklace was so emotional for me… as someone who lost his father very early i can relate to that much more than i want. I think i never cried more in an anime than when i see that scene.
I love one pieces world buildung so much. It shows us the world of to perspective of the pirates that live like they want and giving a shit of the given justice system. Since the navy are the antagonists of the series it makes you forget that the navy are actually the good guys. Beside some corrupt ones of course.

Not my favorite arc but definitely the most hype it's so big in scale and has one great moment after the other, it doesn't stop until the end it pays off a lot of the build up we've had so far it's so satisfying to watch but it doesn't forget to give you heartfelt moments or iconic comedic ones
Still I prefer ennies lobby Alabasta and WCI ( yeah I said it ) but damn it's good and it's been a pleasure watching you react to it
