I am not saying the biker isn't in the right but he will be dead right or in a wheelchair from one dumb driver. Lane splitting just increases your chances ten fold. Especially when there are side streets and cars leave enough room for oncoming traffic to be able to turn left in-between the gap. Neither the bike or the vehicle can see each other until it's too late.

I ride all the time and race but filtering is stupid. I've seen to many videos of guys getting hit by a car, who very obviously couldn't have seen the biker behind the bus he was "filtering" by. At a stop signal or very slowly moving traffic jam conditions is one thing but down a busy street in FLOWING traffic is unneeded and stupid.

What kills me about bikers in other counties and here in California is, just because its legal to lane split doesnt mean you HAVE to squeeze between every car or that we HAVE to let you through. If theres an opening, take it. If not, get in line with the rest of us.

You should only be allowed to lane split when it’s bumper to bumper traffic because splitting at high speeds is too dangerous for both parties
Laced_ IntentionZ in California you can only lane split if the traffic is at a complete stop but bikers still do it while everything is moving so idk but hopefully they get hit and buy a car like a real adult

7:19 is partly the bikers fault, if you can’t see the drivers mirrors then they most likely can’t see you and most semi trucks/tractors don’t have a rear view mirror like most cars
isiahiscool2000 that would be true 10 years ago. Semi’s and tractors or other large vehicles are equipped with a camera on the back to see when they’re backing up.

most vehicles that have cameras are hidden under the license plate. if not they are inside or right on the edge of the bumper or tail light

I live nearby a bunch of backwoods 2 lane roads and they'll be riding on them blocking traffic early in the morning or when rush hour is at its peak. Either find bike trails/paths, your neighborhoods, or streets less populated not during busy hours.

I don't have a problem with lane splitting. Just it would be nice if they can do it slowly. And stop being mad when a car attempts to switch a lane just because it is inconvenient for them not to go through. Because it's more inconvenient for a car to be stuck in traffic rather than a bike who had to literally either slow down or stop for like a second

Anyone that chooses to ride between cars gets 0 sympathy from me when they get hurt. Not to mention how dare they talk to drivers about breaking any rules on the road when they themselves are also breaking rules. Also to those that think bicycles need to be on the sidewalk, take your diving test again and see if you pass or fail that question. Truth is that its illegal for bicycles to be on the sidewalk, people that know the law know this, and bicycles have just as much right to be there as the rest.

I live in a state where lane splitting is illegal, but I will ride the shoulder if traffic is completely stopped.. I don't go over 15mph though.

Lane splitting is the stupidest thing. I ride and have never thought this was a good thing to do. Motorcycles are hard enough to see let alone when they're hidden on the side of a car.

Also to add that the laws may be different in other states and cities/municipalities. Most states grant cyclists 'all rights, privileges, and responsibilities of a motor vehicle' which means cyclists may use any vehicle lane they wish for safer riding (in adherence to local laws and ordinances). Some states prohibit riding on sidewalks while others allow it. Washington State, Oregon and California generally allow cycling on the sidewalks except in downtown areas, business districts, or any area deemed illegal and unsafe. Generally it is safer for cyclists to use vehicular lanes as opposed to sidewalks. It's when clueless motor vehicle operators like the van driver in the third clip don't use proper cautionary actions.

Bikers need to remember drivers are under no obligation to accommodate their lane splitting. If you can't filter through because there's no room that's just something you'll have to live with. Be patient and wait until you can. If the vehicles are within their designated lane markings there's no law been broken. Chill the fuck out with your butthurt ego mirror hitting.

I honestly get too scared to lane split in traffic because I know that when I’m driving a car the bikers sneak up out of nowhere even if I am being very attentive to the road. I know they won’t notice me until last second so I only lane split if there is light traffic.
