    Thanks once again Mike. As a non mechanic I feel a lot more comfortable working on my Sky after watching you..

      That's great Christopher. I'm one of the biggest "non-mechanics" around, but for some reason I'm pretty comfortable working on the Sky. I don't know if it's because it's a pretty simple car to work on or if it's because I have no warranty to worry about....lol. There are some things I won't do myself such as brakes and rotors or anything that has to do with my safety. But other things I'll just jump right in. And if something goes wrong, I have discussion groups and Facebook groups to fall back on :)

    I desperately wanted to reach through my screen and hold the camera for you so that you could use both hands with those pliers/ratchet! Mike, these videos are fantastic and nothing short of a god-send as I prepare to pick up my Solstice in a couple of weeks! THANK YOU!!

    Hey there, have you noticed any issues with water getting to it from between the small gap of the hood and front bumper, thats right above it?

      Hi Lisa. You're quite welcome. I looked on RUclips and couldn't find one for me to use so I decided to make one myself to help others. I hope you subscribed to my channel to check out future mods I'll be doing :)

    Did you happen to see the PCV valve in the intake manifold?? I’m trying to replace mine and was told it was inside.

    Great work!!! I like how much room you now have, guess I will have to redo mine...lol

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks John. It does give you more room indeed. Also, I do feel a little bit better throttle response as well. It's like instant power along with a deeper throaty sound in the higher revs. Well worth the fun factor :)

    I was searching for a cold air intake and don't like the looks of some of them I found. Where did you get yours and what kind did you get?

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  6 лет назад

      I got it from DDMWorks. www.ddmworks.com/ It's for the 2.4L Engine.

    My K&N CAI seems to be causing the transmission to shift HARD. Any suggestions?

    • @protonspring1
      @protonspring1 2 года назад

      Just noting that the K&N is 3" diameter, while the DDMWorks is 2.75". Perhaps this is messing up MAF readings.

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  7 лет назад +2

      No. Not yet. I have a few other things I'm gonna do first. I actually have a pair of Sky Redline headlight housings (with the black insides) that I'll be installing. However, they have some of that fogging on the front lens. So I have to clean those up and install them. I'll probably make a video of that. :)

    How are you liking your cold air intake? I want to know if it's worth it.

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  7 лет назад +3

      So far I like it a lot. First off, it looks cool and get's people to come over and check it out at the Cars & Coffee meets. It also give a bit of a growl at higher RPMs. Definitely louder than stock. And, it also give a bit more throttle response. So for me, it is worth it.

    Do you need a tune for this?

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  3 года назад

      Only if you're doing a lot of high reving driving such as autocross or HPDE racing. After a while of that type of driving, all of the extra air being sucked in throws off the long and short term fuel trim numbers. But if you're just doing normal driving, then you'll be fine.

  • @OldDirtyCollector

    Lol. CAI don’t throw codes unless you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing. Air intakes are pretty basic.

    How can a change the shift knob please?

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  3 года назад +1

      You have to buy an DDM adapter and then you can use an aftermarket knob.

    I recently bought a Solstice GXP. I specifically asked everyone who was selling one if there was some kind of 'cold air intake'. This is a sure sign that the car has been altered by someone with inexperience. Does anyone realize the engineering that goes into making those air boxes from the factory? All of those air baffles and chambers serve a purpose and to remove them is to say that you know more than the car manufacturers about airflow. LEAVE THE AIR INTAKES ALONE, PEOPLE! I can't tell you how many people have come to me to get their car back to stock so they don't have to listen to the engine sucking air, but most of the time, the 'installer' of these things will cut up something sometimes in the firewall that will make returning it to stock difficult. Cutting holes in the structure of the heater core is a BAD IDEA on any vehicle. Not to mention, I have paid $300 to $400 for all of the parts and pieces to return the intake to stock, too bad all of this stuff went in the trash costing the future owner.

    • @jylup4057
      @jylup4057 Год назад

      This adds more airflow to the engine. I doubt anybody came to you complaining about hearing the engine sucking in air. Anybody who buys a cold air intake knows you’ll hear that and it sounds good. Especially if you get the car tuned, it will run way better than the stock air box.

    • @Mr.Ferraris4U
      @Mr.Ferraris4U Год назад

      @@jylup4057 Actually it IS that noise of the engine sucking air that is unnecessary and really doesn't gain any horsepower. KEEP IT STOCK and put that fart can and K&N in the trash.
