Before the game: "Michigan has no chance, USC is going to steam role" After the game: "USC is overrated, Lincoln Riley is soft" Michigan hasn't beaten a good team in 4 years according to some people. Keep cope alive! GO BLUE!
It’s gonna be one of those years. If he’d start Mullings we might not have that back and forth for the year. And please start crippen and sit link. Have to have a better right tackle
You can thank Martindale for that. Wink still hasn't figured out that backup players are not equal to first stringers. This isn't the NFL where draft picks are closely scrutinized from game film and pro scouts. In the third quarter, he subbed the entire D line long enough to let USC back in the game... He aggravates the dog snot out of me.
@@MissionForward3 we went from blitzing 29% of the time over the last 3 years to 48%. Yeah backups aren’t the same in college, you can’t blitz every other play. I’m glad he didn’t send everyone all day yesterday. When he did moss burnt him. That kid is impressive.
The thing is we didn't need a quarterback for this game USC could not keep up with our font 7 all Sherrone had to do was run inside with Mullings then run Edward's outside and watch but their commitment to trying to keep the short passing going held us back they also stopped letting Orji run himself when he was gaining yards.
They need to add more running concepts and sharpen that sword with mullings then start working on small passes just to have something to open the run game
They don't need Tuttle, Warren, or Arnou at this point. All three of those guys are seniors who are going to be gone this year. Michigan has 6 QB's on their roster. 3 are Seniors, 2 are Juniors ( Orji & Denegal ), and Jadyn Davis as a redshirt. Davis and his parents want him to red shirt, so they're not going to burn it this year. It's time to get Orji, and Denegal the reps, and experience. Throw Jadyn Davis in next season. They already have a couple of commits. Another transfer would help bring in some depth, but as of now they have a mix of different style QB's.
I thought the same thing! To be Michigan, the defending national Champs and 3x big 10 Champs but don't have a qb as good as Illinois, someone should lose their job!
I mean you got to be realistic and face the facts that they're a running team. Look back at all the quarterbacks they've had in the last 25 years. Who stands out the most? JJ. Henne. Brady. Henson. That's it. If you watch the game, Orji can throw. He took care of the ball, didn't turn it over, and made a few wise decisions. USC's cornerbacks were fast, and were glued to Michigan's WR's in man coverage. Alex isn't a drop back, pick the defense apart, pocket passer. They sure don't have the offensive line for that either. They need to revamp the offense, give the wideouts short routes to get some separation. Open up Donovan Edwards as a third option on the read option place, and start running a little bit of triple option, and run pass option. That will completely open up the playbook.
Because Sherrone's strategy is literally do the same thing over and over until it finally works. Worked against Penn State but he wanted to prove people wrong about Alex but instead made him look 100 times worse.
It's been apparent since the 1st game who's better, if we're being honest since last season Mullings has been better overall. But there's something to be said about loyalty to the Don.
I don’t think a lot of ppl understand if Michigan just had an average QB who could make the easy throws that this a top 3-5 team. They gotta do something immediately
LMAO! Settle down. Michigan is a running team, and has been for a long time. The biggest problem they have with quarterbacks is none of them have any game time experience. The second biggest problem they have offensively are the designed plays. That was not only Orji's 1st start ever, that was also his first game ever where he played more than just a few snaps.
@@atrain132 correct. This was basically the first game of the season. They got a win against a really good USC team. The QB situation is not ideal. But they will work up some stuff for Orji. This team is shaking up to be a lot like 2021. Remember the first game of the season that year against Washington? Cade had something like 40 passing yards. The team won because of the strength of the offensive line and defensive line, and I think it will be similar this year.
Good win. Obviously gotta work on SOME form of passing game . Kalel is a beast . Defense is great liek …90 percent of the time . But they HAVE to figure out what Kees breaking down on these third and longs . Makes me pull my hair out . I almost get upset if they get a big sack or tfl on 2nd Down because I know they always give ip huge plays on third and long 😂 whether 4 missed tackles or a wide open receiver tjay no one pays attention to. But I digress . They made a plethora of mistakes and still managed to beat the current #11 team. That’s a good sign .just please find a pass game! Even if it’s just 120 yards a game lol
It took them 4 games to realize we still have a dominate running game and we still don't utilize it half the time. Moore may not be the guy after all because yikes. Wins a win though.
The gap b/w Mullings and Edwards is so obvious at this point. You cant rely on Edwards to get the tough yards and break tackles and get the sticks. Mullings is the guy...Ben Hall needs more touches too
Until Tuttle gets healthy Orji is who Michigan has to work with. So proud of my team finding a way to get it done like they have the last 3 years, but Michigan needs someone dependable for 3rd and longs.
