@@X22GJP what is your point? It's incredible that people can do this, it doesn't matter how much practice it takes. if anything the amount of practice makes it all the more impressive
Don't forget that he also knows history about at least sections of London. Buildings and structures that have been demolished way before his birth. (as seen in the Watchdogs video)
Damn, that's mighty impressive! Kudos to you, sir. It always frustrated me when Fred Housego won 'Mastermind' all those years ago and how this was greeted with incredulity and scorn in some quarters - "A London cabbie winning Mastermind!!! How is that possible???" When you consider the memory skills, concentration, and intelligence needed to pass the Knowledge and navigate the maze of streets that make up central London, this shows what amazing ability London cab drivers have.
I love this as a. Blind person I do this most days and you be surprised the things you will pick up on like the number of people you can hear and things like bumps in the road
One of my favorite scenes in Sneakers is where Whistler (David Strathairn) tries to figure out where in the San Francisco Bay Area Martin (Robert Redford) was kidnapped to, based purely on the sounds Martin heard from the trunk of the car. The cocktail party was the best.
@Tom the Taxi Driver Yeah mate! I’ve just got to get my channel pumping again - which I have every intention to! I’m sure there could be some interesting bicycle vs taxi challenges
This honesty blows my mind 🤯 Like the the f... can you navigate blindfolded, In a city like London, and remember all the streets and points off interest like that 🤯 And doing the knowledge is mind-blowing on it self And I can only imagen trying to kidnap a cappy woud be hard to have them not know were you are 😅
Hey Tom it was great to have met you with Katelyn and John and Sue Mills. I've watched this video (fabulous, incredible and interesting). Very well filmed Katy! Thanks Martin! Cheers Tom!
when i lived in Japan they had a TV show that did specials on human excellence, like an okonomiyaki chef who could cut slices which weighed exactly 100 grams but just by eye, without weighing them. there was a bank teller who could pick up exactly 100 banknotes from a stack by fingertip without counting them. London taxi drivers were often featured because it's fkn crazy how good they are. the japanese studio audience were always blown away..
Well done, although i have to take one point off for west st (Litchfield st). Its Wonderfull all London cabbies have that unique insight of not only its thousands of streets but many thousands of places of interest.
Hi Tom, That was indeed absolutely brilliant. I assume you would only have this sort of intimate knowledge (bumps in the road) of the most central part of London, and the intimacy of your knowledge would gradually decrease as you get further from Trafalgar Square, which is to be expected, as most of your work is in this area.
That's crazy I started the knowledge in 2014 but stopped due to moped crash I wanted to start it back again but never got round to maybe new year new start hopefully after covid 19 🤞🏽
Tom, very good to have met you and seen Katy again. I would be most interested if you had formed any opinions on driving and lawlessness in South Africa. How could you not? Oh hang on, I have only now seen your drive in Bryanston! Signing off to watch it!
This is honestly one of the most impressive things I’ve seen in my life
Haha thanks, just doing my job 😜
That is staggering! Not only to get the entire route including road names AND even the names of the local shops and landmarks!! Best cabbie in town!
The crazy thing is that they can all do this
@@audigex Yep, and all pianists can play the piano, who'd 'a' thunk it? It's only staggering or crazy because you can't do it.

I’m blown away, literally speechless. I literally sometimes have to check where I am going in my local area, let alone central London.
3 years of hard work ...paid off well. Well done Tom.
At least if you ever get kidnapped and bundled into a boot you'll know where u are
Car stops after they hear him muttering every street and turn to himself, gets let go.
This was a sick idea and you smashed it out the park. Such awesome content, dude!!
Thanks Joe! Collab one day? 😜

The guy be like "Oh yeah, that exact bump pattern feels like that of a Bleeding Heart Yard"
Real talk, this is fucking mad. If I told this guy to get lost it'd take him all day 😂
I did want to try a real life version of that, i.e. get dropped anywhere random in London and figure out when I am ahah!

Gee, even with my eyes open I could not be so confident in my town.
Thank you sir! 👍🏻
I thought seeing London GPS MAP in mind is a Sherlock Holmes thing
Thanks Sreejith, It's a fun skill to have!
I was kind of hoping that he was going to drive his cab with with a bind fold
Do you know where every embassy is ?
Yep. Got asked the Dominican Embassy on my final exam 👍🏻
Jeez 👌

Depends which centre you are defining
Uber drivers checking their googel maps
Too easy. I'll be impressed with your KOL if you start in Holloway or Herne Hill
How the hell did I get here........ I'd be more impressed if you were driving blindfolded
