In case anyone doubts how highly regarded Mark Knopfler is by his peers, they just need to watch the video of this track.
I absolutely adore Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits ❤❤ and I bought this recording the day it was released in the UK....just pure magic!
And you play your guitar as much as you like in your reactions! I love it 😀 🎸 keep it funky!! 🥳
Great reaction to a very unique and outstanding idea of Mark! So much talent coming together here, really a very special project. And all my respect to Guy Fletcher putting all this together into one song!
Please keep on playing along with the songs during your reactions, I really enjoy it and yes, it is part of experiencing music. You are a great guitar player (not only guitar, as I learned) and in my eyes you could well be part of this track as well... ;-)
Best regards from Switzerland
Keep playing on the songs as much as you want, that's what makes your channel yours. if anyone doesn't like that, there are plenty of other channels. I'm a bit surprised you don't know Peter Frampton, he has one of the most famous live albums of all time from the late 70's.
I don't think anyone else other than Mark Knopfler would be able to command the respect from such a diverse amount of guitar players as we have here, and he just happened to have written the perfect instrumental track for it. Mark is number 1 for me but there was great contributions from everyone, only missing my 2nd favourite guitar player, Mike Oldfield. Lots of credit goes to Guy Fletcher for putting this together.
Paul McCartney was asked to be on this too, but he could not find time in his schedule.
OMG thank you so much for this.... this Is heaven seeing all these legends play, I don't think we can ever see this calibre of supreme guitarists at once again. Thank you MARK for this ❤
Two of them have already died since the recording. R.I.P. Jeff Beck, Duane Eddy
And thank you Guy Fletcher for somehow integrating all these performances into a wonderful coherent whole.
Mark’s humility as a guitarist and human being is one of his greatest qualities as far too many musicians have egos that are out of control. The list of guitarists that wanted to be a part of Mark Knopfler’s music is a testament as to just how much he is respected. We love you MK!! Always.
Man, you would enjoy so much the "Mark Knopfler on guitars" video and other videos of him playing on his own at home and similar. Amazing
Being three quarters Scottish this will be my funeral music. My favourite film Local Hero. Mark’s music was the main character. Phenomenal ❤❤❤❤
Guy Fletcher is the keyboardist that joined Dire Straits in the mid 80's and still plays with Mark until today, but he's also coproducer and engineer now. You must know Peter Frampton, famous for his use of the Talkbox with the song "Show me the way".
You also missed Mike Rutherford from Genesis who also plays a part
Mike Rutherford is of course also the eponymous "Mike" of Mike and the Mechanics. Paul Carrick, one time lead singer of that band, is also on the track.
Truly a collaboration that never been done or will be done ever again. Shows the mutual respect between Mark and all these other great names (a lot of them Mark has played with earlier)
This would be the full list. I think it also has someone from every big rock band in it (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Genesis, etc. and of course Dire Straits).

one off the best piece of music ever written
starts with Jeff Beck’s final recording. a great honour
A little info on Steve Cropper. Steve was a member of Booker T and the MGs the Stax records studio band. He also was a guitarist for the group Sam and Dave and a co-writer with Otis Redding, "Dock of the Bay" one of the songs he co-wrote. Steve also was one of the original Blues Brothers Band members.
It's very interesting to see your reactions and also the explanations of different situations that occur within a song. For those of us who are not musicians, sometimes you make enlightening comments and I appreciate that. I suppose you've already seen them and if not, I dare to recommend you the first era of Dire Straits, even up to '81. The shows at Rockpalast and Werchter are excellent and easy to find on RUclips. By the way, this Local Hero is insane!!! 🤪 Thanks! 😊
This song just had to be reheard with the names video and it suddenly blossomed to life that somehow just listening on pure audio did not make sense. Many nuts amongst us who preordered it and listened were left with emotions on all ends of the spectrum till this particular named video came out.
I wasn't a movie buff, but I did really like "Local Hero" back in the day. Mark always brought a nice mix of traditional music from UK and America as well as rock.
I would point out that Going Home is a brilliant melody and chord sequence that is perfect for the jam.
Frampton is a legend for some, his 70s album Frampton Comes Alive used to be the best-ever-selling live album, here he is from a few years ago with Bonamassa, slamming While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Frampton had a condition at the time which affected his guitar playing but hey, what a player ruclips.net/video/ocgU3VnOJMQ/видео.htmlsi=iPv7V3dK2XTTArEe
Don't apologize about playing, this is where music comes from. Democracy, all players together 😊
From the country side: Vince Gill,Brad Paisley,Keith Urban. Ry Cooder can not be nailed down. This is incredible!
I remember seeing Keith Urban on The Graham Norton Show talking about how he used to play Sultans of Swing while busking back in Australia and strumming a bit on an acoustic guitar. Obviously a fan of Mark and his work. Mind you, who isn't? 😃
Vince Gill played guitar and sung backing vocals on The Bug from Dire Straits' last studio album On Every Street. I believe he was offered the chance to join them for the subsequent tour, but declined. It was nice to see him pop by when Mark and Brian Johnson interviewed another great friend and collaborator of Mark's, Emmylou Harris, on their Johnson and Knopfler's Music Legends show.
Mark has always been into country music as well. It's not surprising, that he had country stars in this project.
You could definitely hear when Derek Trucks came in. If you haven't seen Tedeschi Trucks singing Midnight in Harlem please watch it. I just found it this year and it's beautifull. You don't need to react just enjoy. Derek Trucks is the best at playing the slide with the guitar. I'm looking forward to the day you react to Taj Farrant playing Gary Moore's Parisienne Walkways. He's 15 and you will be amazed! Taj just opened a few shows for Buddy Guy and played a couple of songs with him at the end of the show. He also was the guest star performer at the 40th anniversary celebration for Prince's Purple Rain release. He got to listen to some of Prince's unreleased music in the vault and record in Prince's recording studio. He performed at the street party they had for the fans, at The State Theater where he opened for Morris Day and Prince's band NPG. He performed Purple Rain with NPG. He performed at Paisley Park the next day. He played at Lollapalooza and is playing at a number of blues festivals and is going to be one of the performers on Joe Bonamassa's blues cruise. Taj's first album, Chapter One, is being released on 8/28/2024. He has had 6 original songs from it chart at #1 on the iTunes blues charts. Not bad for 15. His audience is filled with people from 70 on down. He's a real musician. People have craved that for years.
👍🏻
Nothing comes close to It, each tone iTS heaven in earth, great reaction!, If you want to see a great one fron Frampton, try 'lines on my face' live, is just terrific.🙌🏼
Keep playing man...please
Hola,si por casualidad lees mi comentario,te sugiero reacciones a Diana Navarro, con la canción " el perdón "
( la tienes con subtítulos en inglés ) te encantara...mil gracias y saludos desde España...💃🍀
The contributions to make this are just ridiculous and credit to Guy Fletcher for stitching it all together
MK just an honest down to earth guy who's donated a fair portion of his guitar collection as well to the Teenage cancer trust why he's not got a knighthood in the UK for his charity contributions beyond me never mind his music contribution when we dish them out for political incompetence is scandalous
Add in James Burton who played with Elvis !
Please only play a song that you know, you could have prepared upfront, that’s a famous song
