Honestly, GI robot's back story may be more believable than you may think... For context, i've actually met someone like that guy who collected GI robot in real life... and when I tried to explain to him the contradictory nature of his collection and what he's actually into... He flat out ignored me... one other ludacris example, look no further than gays for hamas. The world just may be more messed up than you may think.
Sure, the real world can be filled with cognitive dissonance. As the old saying goes, though, the difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense. In fiction, twists need to be set up in order to work. This is a similar issue to the Disney Twist Villain problem, where the character is a good guy until he's suddenly not anymore. The main difference here is that we don't even have time to see Sam be an awful person after the twist because his head gets blown off immediately. In fact, it seems even stranger considering that GI lives with Sam for a certain length of time, they watch WW2 movies together, tour the collection, etc., and apparently neither one of them ever says anything about their views on Nazis until the meeting. Why would Sam not bring it up? Why would GI suddenly not be constantly talking about his favorite activity? Well, it's purely so they can have a twist. Like I said in the video, maybe there were scenes hinting at the twist that had to be cut for time. Even a conversation where the GI and Sam are speaking around the subject and assuming they understand each other could have worked. As it is, though, I still think it comes out of nowhere.
@@hagfish4998 Then explain to me the group of people I ran into that had gay pride shirts on and we're trying to say that Hamas was misunderstood and the victims in all of this, because I did, and I still to this day cannot figure out why.
@@omniviewer2115 The example you gave about him being into Nazis without ever telling about it, yeah I had no clue about it until he started trying to recruit me for his group, maybe my experience colors my view, but I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience for a minute from that episode.
@WolfX1120 I don't question your experience. Indeed, it probably was surreal. I would still ask this, though: were you and this person roommates at any point? I ask because GI and Sam are roommates, so with GI living in Sam's home, it would be unusual for the robot to find no evidence at all; a copy of Mein Kampf on the nightstand, or a DVD of Triumph of the Will, or something that would be suspicious without being instantly incriminating. It would also, as mentioned, be unusual for GI to suddenly stop talking about the one thing he otherwise never shuts up about, i.e., killing Nazis. We must assume that he doesn't bring it up, or else Sam would never have brough the Nazi-killing robot to a Nazi rally. As I think more about it, we also have the various scenes from throughout the episode to consider. We have the initial scene with Easy Company; the scene where GI goes on a talk show and is still actively looking for Nazis to kill, even becoming suspicious of the crowd and the host; the scene where he tells Magnus that he wants to be reunited with Sgt. Rock and the boys to kill Nazis. They all feel like they're building up to something very specific, some incident that led to GI Robot making a horrible mistake of some sort, one where he killed someone who was absolutely NOT a Nazi, thereby justifying the perception of him as a monster. Yet the pivotal event is disconnected from these scenes, and also allows the robot to remain somewhat justified in his actions because he still killed actual Nazis. Do you understand why I find this part of the story to be undercooked? I don't know if there are scenes missing or alternate drafts or what, but something about the whole thing was off to me.
I think Sam being a nazi out of nowhere was the point. It highlights that there's people in the real world who appear as being nice and smart, but are actually really terrible. Although it is kinda odd that GI Robot had enough restraint to not bring up killing nazis even once around Sam up until he got to the meeting.
I find it equally strange that GI lived with Sam for ant period of time and never once picked up on his political leanings. They're watching a movie where American soldiers and German soldiers fight each other, and neither one says anything about what they think of the events onscreen?
Well, technically speaking, Shelly never actually wrote a proper Bride character. Victor refuses to complete her in the novel. Plus, it's hard to know how shocked she would really be given the lifestyle she was living when she wrote the book.
I'm very excited about Creature Commandos, just waiting for the season to finish up so that I can watch it uninterrupted. Your collection in the background here is AMAZING.
Exceptional review for Creature Commandos Omni, thank you so much, it is astoundingly appreciated!!!!!!! P.S. The character that has garnered most of my interest, is Dr. Phosphorus, and second to him would be Mina(The female Creature From The Black Lagoon character). Can't wait for their backstories to take center stage!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Omni Viewer! One of the show’s directors “Sam Liu” is one of the few directors who worked on Godzilla: The Series. What are your thoughts on Sam working on both Godzilla and this show?
I think season 1´s character roster is mostly going to be about people who are born or made into monsters by bad circumstances, aside from Phosphorus who too has a sad background very likely but ends up being more violent alongside Eric. So far though I like the series, if they make season 2 I want them to introduce more crazy monsters from comics whose backstories would steer more into a more morally grey if not villainous route. Most of the OG characters from the comics according to all research what I did had very bare bone backstories that the writers could give them a whole new ones.

Are you a zionist or something, because nobody is saying "Gays for Hamas"?

I'm curious to see their backstories as well, especially after Mina dodged the question when Bride asked if she ever killed someone.
@omniviewer2115 Very interesting indeed.

Well, he clearly knows what he's doing.
@ are you surprised he did both of your favorite franchises?

There are plenty of other nonhuman characters on display, and any one of them might be spotlighted in a future season...or even a movie, perhaps.
I have a theory the princess might be Tara Markov aka Terra.
I've heard some theorizing she's Clayface, which will be scarring for Flagg if true.
Unrelated but You've talk about the previous two sonic movies so curious did you watch sonic movie 3?
I haven't gotten to it yet. Been busy with Christmas prep and all. I'll try getting to it at some point.
@omniviewer2115 i wish you well this Christmas and wish you a good year. I hope you do get a chance to watch it on the big screen if nothing eles
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well.
