Gene Kelly is iconic too. BM should have mentioned how incredibly kind he was to Judy through out filming and how she knew she could trust him always.

For some reason people think Summer Stock was the film that got Garland dismissed from MGM, but in truth it was her next film, Royal Wedding. As the commentator here says, shooting this film was a nightmare because of Garland's frequent absents and lateness on the set, and this was right on the heels of her getting fired from Annie Get Your Gun, the film before Summer Stock. But the studio wanted to give her another opportunity to prove she was still a workable star. Unfortunately once rehearsals for Royal Wedding got underway, it started all over again. She began fighting with the director, she was always late and again frequently absent. Finally MGM said enough was enough and they fired her, replacing Garland with Jane Powell. Judy was a great star, she burned bright, red hot. But like so many things that burn with such intensity, she sadly flickered out way before her time.
