Hi, I'm an intermediate-beginner on the clarinet, and I had a quick question? How much pressure do you apply on the mouthpiece? I have a habit of biting down very hard, and if I don't I can't produce a good sound at all if any. I'm not bad, I've won awards and things like that, but as soon as I loosen my embouchure the sound just doesn't happen. Any tips or advice?
Biting too much is never a good thing, try to have a « whistling » embouchure and make a O around the mouthpiece. Try to play relatively soft but opened reeds (shouldn’t close when you play some high notes). It’s difficult to give tips like this but I hope it will be helpful. Practice well !
