Retrouvez ici l’artiste Vandoren Nicolas Baldeyrou accompagné de Yuko Sasai qui nous propose ici un arrangement pour clarinette et piano de l’une des plus célèbres pièces de virtuosité pour violon, la Ronde des Lutins de Bazzini.
Lui-même violoniste virtuose, Bazzini composa cette pièce en 1852, dans un style clairement inspiré de Paganini.
Évoquant les lutins, créatures magiques et espiègles du folklore européen, cette pièce nous emmène dans un tourbillon surnaturel de virtuosité qui exploite toutes les ressources aussi bien de l’instrument que de l’instrumentiste.
Nicolas joue ici le nouveau bec Black Diamond BD4 HD avec des anches V•12 force 3.5 une ligature Optimum noire mat, avec une clarinette Buffet-Crampon Légende Green Line.

Vandoren artist Nicolas Baldeyrou, accompanied by Yuko Sasai, presents here an arrangement for clarinet and piano of one of the most famous virtuoso pieces for violin, Bazzini's Dance of the Goblins. A virtuoso violinist himself, Bazzini composed this piece in 1852, in a style clearly inspired by Paganini. Evoking the goblins, magical and mischievous creatures of European folklore, this piece takes us into a supernatural whirlwind of virtuosity that exploits all the resources of both the instrument and the player.
Nicolas plays the Black Diamond BD4 HD with V•12 #3.5 reeds, the black Optimum ligature and a Green Line Légende Buffet-Crampon clarinet.

I knew this would be good, but holy smokes...!
Not only is it maybe the fastest double-tonguing I've heard, it's maybe the cleanest, and most effortless-sounding. And all with that beautiful sound, even in the most extreme register. It's not just fast and clean; every note is clear, finely nuanced... but it doesn't sound like a machine - it's eminently musical, on top of everything. Simply astounding.

Au plaisir de te rerencontrer si un jour tu souffles ma clarinette SELMER lorsqu'elle est en réparation quelque part rue de Rome.
Il y a quelques années, je jouais sur une Festival BUFFET, tu l'avais soufflée après ses réglages à Mantes-la-Ville, et on était allés manger un morceau le midi avec l'équipe en parlant du 4-0 que le PSG venait de mettre au Barça (avant de prendre finalement un 1-6 au match retour !).

Apart from the stunning playing I am interested in the choice of greenline instruments Nicolas often uses. I have been struggling to find grenadilla top-end instruments that have the response of the best Buffet Prestige instruments from the late 80s and 90s. Maybe it's the wood - I just don't know. Nicolas seems to be able to play superbly on a wide range of models but it seems interesting that he frequently goes with greenline!

Quick question, He's playing more out of the side of the mouth. Is this personal preference? Does it allow for more accuracy with tonguing and high notes?
