Wow! Not only was the kid told to get down four times, but the others weren't moving very quickly to get off the gate either. They weren't teenagers. They were kids of an age at which parents would be present. Where on earth were the parents? Especially if the slowest-to-move child possibly didn't understand English. This just reenforces the idea that there needs to be some sort of sign (not needed in past decades) that reminds people that this is a working military barracks and NOT Disneyland. Let me add that I'm saying this as a mother of three myself.
It was probably a parent who started it by lifting a child on to the gate then more followed. Just another instance of the lack of respect for persons, property and traditions that are on display so frequently here by natives and foreign tourists.
If the kids want to climb, then they should go to a park with a climbing frame, not hang off the gates like monkeys in the zoo... that's total stupidity!!
MOD or whomever need to address crowd control immediately. it is absolutely insane the amount of people allowed in to the yard and on the street. this is a military facility not a three ring circus amusement for the tourist to disrespect and ridicule on a daily basis. with a bomb scare a few days ago, pickpockets, unstable people milling about it's an accident waiting to happen. no amount of police, security cameras can catch everything that is going on. the safety of the guards and horses is paramount. the yard should be shut down to the general public as they cannot behave in a decent and respectful manner, the guards and horses out front should have those portable fencing barricades like the ones in front of Downing street to keep the tourists beyond arms length of the horses but give the horses a wide enough berth in case of a meltdown,, IE: on the outside of the columns and across the bollards . the general public can't even walk pass without entering the roadway. course London district is only concerned about the amount of money that the tourist bring in never mind the fact that their own residents are suffering from the rising costs of living there that they pay for with their taxes. nowhere in the world that I know of would a military post be mobbed and literally taken over by tourists. smarten up London District, next time it will be a real bomb, someone getting trampled, a guard and horse getting severely injured. wake up.
It's due to tourists who cannot stand up without a wall behind them. I see it constantly, sliding along with their backpacks at times. Have a close look at the ancient stones behind where they stand for photos, they leave their mark gradually wearing away the stone. Never had this year's ago. No respect, no manners.
@@KathGookey-lx1nb I always crack up when there is a heated response to a video going on and someone says...will someone please straighten the sign?. :D
so let me get this straight. the yard at horse guards is a military facility, MOD offices etc. the parade ground out back is public. MOD police are there is prevent against terrorists attacks, public safety etc. ok, so then why allow a mob of tourists into the yard, who disrespect, mock, ridicule and believe that the guards and horses are there for their amusement and abuse on a daily basis. it's letting the fox guard the hen house. am I wrong? please tell me where the logic is. no where do in the world that I know of that would allow their military facility to be used as a tourist trap where their guards have to deal with rude entitled tourists. even the street outside is a disaster , dangerous, guards and horses in constant peril of something happening to them. it is a privilege not a right to be allowed access into the yard and view soldiers and the horses if it is being abused, which it is, then instead of shutting horse guards down completely since the parade ground is public and the museum is out back close the entrance to the yard out back to the general public, out on the street barricade off around the guards and horses as it is done at downing street so the public can still see and take pictures but at an extreme arms length so the guards can preform their duties in peace and quiet. that is what they signed up for. simple, but in my view London District and Westminster Council only see all the money that is generated from this moronic tourists who have made a historic and beautiful city into a dirty, over expensive tourist trap and to hell with the guards and horses and protecting them. my heart goes out to the guards. absolute joke.
It's in public. Do the police have the power to order people like that? With out making a cordon, they don't. If he shouted at my kid like that I'd be shouting back.
Seriously? Teach your child they can't do everything they want to do. He didn't shout. He told them quite rightly to get down. And yes, he has the authority to do that.
Even if anything is public one has to be more mindful, respectful of properties and living being. Please do not teach the wrong things to your children, otherwise they will be put in place by others.
