I was there... just happened to buy tix to that game before he announced his retirement. My whole family was there with usual doesn’t happen... will forever be my favorite baseball memory

It’s crazy how I bought tickets for this game before he announced this would be his last game. I was so lucky to have been there with my family, the vibes from the crowd was amazing. Always will be a proud Mets fan! #LFGM💙🧡

As a probably 11 year old ish kid back then, I cried my eyes out in his last game, watching the TV at home. I remember the world series home run that he hit when I was probably in fourth grade, I still cry watching this back, its crazy how nothing else can make me cry except this.

Holy crap. I dislike the Mets. I was raised this way at this point I only feed it to my baseball loving son, I’m sorry for this but as a South Jersey native there’s no other option. I don't feel that strongly about this, but the fact that the marlins didn't make it easy for David Wright to get a hit out of respect shows no class. Sometimes baseball is more than just a game. Especially for two teams that were already knocked out of the playoffs
Maybe fans maybe would have wanted to see a hit even if it was served up to him, but I’m not sure David would have wanted to be given an easy time
