Can you use items such as orange peels or lemon peels in the flavor basket to vs botanicals?

I used to add the little 250gram jack dan whisky or whatever you can buy from any liquor store plus add the flavour. Let it sit but shake it, everyday. It tastes just like the top shelf. Try it. I dare you.

    Brilliant mate, thanks for sharing.
Any suggestions for cooling the wash during fermentation……. I presume air conditioning the room is best, but just curious to know if there is another option if I’m brewing in my shed/ man cave.
    Thanks again

Hi Rich on the little bottles of essences it says 750ml you referred to making a 70cl bottle so should we use 700ml of our alcohol or 750ml. Thanks in advance

To be honest it depends on what your making, some of the bottles of concentrate will make 3 x 70cl bottles (whiskey, vodka, rum, etc tend to make 3) while others may make only 1 ltr depending on what it is. I think this is due to the amount and type of concentrate they can get into the small bottles, a general rule of thumb would be if it's a spirit concentrate it'll be 3x70, if it's a cream or similar it's apt to be less, just go by the instructions on the bottles themselves and you won't go wrong. You can also try food flavourings, but be sure they are either alcohol or water based, many flavourings ie. orange, lime, etc, are oil based and won't mix so make sure before you buy them I made that mistake when I first started and ended up with booze with flavoured oil floating in it.
