    • @christinalee3047

      네, 당연하지. The more you you learn Korean and you understand and apply it to when you're talking to someone in your family even though they're not koreans themselves because basically you're really reviewing it so now it's embedded in your memory then find some Korean vlogs that will help you and then on top of that watching Korean dramas will also help you out in the long run before you know you will just be walking around listening to them speak and you'll be able to pick a word or two and figured out what they're saying. ALWAYS PRACTICE PRACTICE SPEAKING EVEN IF THEY DON'T SOUND RIGHT I've been there, so I know that it's difficult at first then but when it gets easier to understand that's when it starts to become fun.

    am i the only one writing out the numbers in korean?? i feel like I learn it better that way due to pronouncing them cause I still cant remember the numbers all that well so writing it out in korean would be better then just writing out the number. like i wrote 천구백구싶사년. 싶이월. 이일! instead of 1994년 12월 2일 lolz

      I’m assuming from what you’ve typed you were born on January 18th, 1990? If so, for the year you do not need to add 공 at the end for the 0.
      천구백구십년 is just fine if wanting to say 1990.
      천(1000) 구백(900) 구십(90)
      1000+900+90 =1990
      This is like at the start of the video, when we saw the date for 2020, it was 이천이십년.
      이천(2000) 이십(20). 2000+20=2020
      When the year ends in a 0, there is no need to add 공 on the end :)
      The only time you would add 공 is if you were being lazy and shortening it to last two numbers of the year. In the example for 2020, the lazy way was 이공. This is the 2 (이) and 0 (공).
      But generally, try stick to the proper way of writing the date instead of the shortened!!

    Can you tell me how 'ㅅ' is used as 't' in some korean words ?

    • @rensvh98
      @rensvh98 3 года назад +1

      Don’t quote me on this because I’m not Korean, but I think in most cases, ㅅ sounds like that when it’s the last letter in a syllable and it isn’t followed by another syllable. For example, 맛 (taste/flavor) is pronounced ‘mat’ but 맛있어요 (It’s tasty) is pronounced ‘ma-shi-sseo-yo’. Same with 것 (thing/object), which is pronounced ‘geot’. If you say 이 것은 (This thing (+ topic marker)) then I think it’s pronounced ‘geo-seun’. Hope this helps!

    • @user_nagauri
      @user_nagauri 3 года назад +1

      @@rensvh98 것은 = geos-eun
      거슨 = geo-seun ?

    • @user_nagauri
      @user_nagauri 3 года назад +1

      @@rensvh98 yeah i also noticed t is used when ㅅ comes at last .

    • @rensvh98
      @rensvh98 3 года назад +1

      @@user_nagauri I think the consonant rolls over to the next syllable, just like in 맛있어요. You don’t pronounce it as ‘mas-iss-eo-yo’, which sounds a bit blocky and unnatural. You let the consonants flow into the next syllable (as if you’d replace the ㅇ with it). So: ‘ma-shi-sseo-yo’. Not ‘geos-eun’, but ‘geo-seun’.

    • @shrutirraman3191
      @shrutirraman3191 3 года назад +1

      All the previous comments have perfectly explained why 'ㅅ' is pronounced as 't'. I just wanted to add a little bit to what they are saying.
      All consonants have their own names and usually these names are indicative of how they are pronounced when placed at the beginning or end of a syllable.
      ㄱ- 기역 (Gi-yeok)
      ㄴ- 니은 (Ni-eun)
      ㄷ- 디귿 (Di-geut)
      ㄹ- 리을 (Ri-eul)
      ㅁ- 미음 (Mi-eum)
      ㅂ- 비읍 (Pi-eup)
      ㅅ- 시옷 (Si-ot)
      ㅇ- 이응 (i-eung)
      ㅈ- 지읒 (Ji-eut)
      ㅊ- 치읓 (Chi-eut)
      ㅋ- 키읔 (Khi-euk)
      ㅌ- 티읕 (Thi-eut)
      ㅍ- 피읖 (Phi-eup)
      ㅎ- 히읗 (Hi-eut)
      ㄷ,ㅅ, ㅈ,ㅊ,ㅌ, and ㅎ are usually pronounced as 't' when at the end of the syllable.
      Since ㅇ is the empty syllable (it doesn't have a sound of its own at the beginning of the syllable), the last consonant from the previous syllable (if it is there) is pronounced in its place.
      This is following the 맛있어요 example.
      So simply put 맛있다 = 마싰다 in terms of pronounciation, but it is wrong if written in the second form.
      For more tips on pronounciation look for a video on batchim (받침)
