I like how in this series they call splinter "dad" more than master splinter or sensei. It makes it feel more like they are father/sons rather than teacher/students. They had a father/sons thing in the 2012 series as well, but it felt more formal. Here its basically like an everyday family that's functional majority of that time and I feel like a lot of peole can relate to the dynamic.

Well, 2012 Splinter was just a japanese man with japanese culture, being the only thing he could left his sons. That means that he raised his turtles in a more formal japanese way than american, so it shouldn't be a surprise the guys call him "sensei" or "master" all the time. Besides, it makes it more special when they call him father, since it means the moment is critical.
Liu Jitsu seems be the Hamato Yoshi/Master Splinter that elects to skimp on 'traditionally Japanese', too, so there's probably that, as a reason. Whereas, say, 2003 Splinter is a former pet trying to carry on the memory of his dead master, so he's going to try and emulate his idea of what he remembers Yoshi being like; a master/teacher, moreso than a parent (which is not to say the dad aspect is completely absent in 2003 splinter, just that he's not thrown away the 'sensei' formality like Liu Jitsu has).
In most incarnations of the series it feels like their master is also their father. In this one Splinter is their father who also teaches them Ninjutsu
Why is it only now sinking in that after Splinter hating Draxum for seeing the turtles as warriors, of COURSE he didn't train them as they grew up! He looked at them and saw, "innocent creatures" who became humanoid mutant turtle babies that he raised as KIDS Not kids primarily and ninjas second or vice versa, the only reason they were ninjas at all at the start of the show was how all the free time hiding from the world gave them to obsess over the Lou Jitsu films until they genuinely got good at imitating the moves I might scream, he's literally NOT their sensei for most of the show, he's just their dad plain and simple (who happens to be a martial arts badass)

As someone who's loved the turtles since the 90's, Rise of the TMNT is hands down my favorite iteration of the property. This show wasn't afraid to try new things, and went above and beyond in terms of character, animation, writing, and choreography. People gave this show a lot of hate in the beginning, but I hope more and more people will realize just how fantastic it is over time.

The only reason why they're good at ninjutsu is because their admiration for Lou Jitsu, to the point they started copying him and being trained by Splinter.
This is what i like to call Splinter's sliding Dad Scale. 1980s Splinter raised the turtles as Ninjas only. 2000s Splinter seemed to raise them as Ninjas first and children second. 2012 Splinter raised them as kids first and Ninjas second. it had more serious moments than some reincarnations. This was a family comedy more than an full on action series. Stories were more personal than epic which to me at least is my favorute one a close second is 2003.

actually only 13 years have passed from their mutation to the shows current timeline, Splinter sged so fast probably because of the stress of raising 4 children haha

I love how this show took it's time to present the characters a step backwards. When we met them, they were not ninjas yet. When we met them, Leo was not the leader yet. When we met them, Splinter was a not an old sage master. And instead show us how they develop to be such people. I wish that Donatello would have had the same treatment. He is always into tech expertises before the show begins. And, curiously, we skipped meeting April, something that was always showed in every show.
i think theyll show us aprils introduction in a later episode. i think the cool thing about this april is that shes chosen family, and i think the show has done very well to establish aprils long relationship with the turtles. i think it was smart for them to establish that first, bc in the other series aprils relationship to the turtles was very different

BRUH- THIS SHOW DIDN'T DESERVE TO BE CANCELED. NOR BE BLINDLY HATRED! *Look at this, look at them. Watch the episodes, it may be slow at first, but it gets better.*
It was "blindly" hated by many of us due to the immediate remake after 2012's version had ended. They (2012) did something for the first time that would have changed the turtle's entire way of life and, instead of delving into the psychology of that event, Nick remade it with what was arguably poorer graphics and lazier storytelling. I'm sure the pandemic didn't help either, but they should have waited at least a few years before rehashing the same material. Drastically changing characters' appearances and dynamic doesn't count and it wasn't appreciated among those of us who had spent so much time engaged in (what we saw as) a better series. For example, and putting the movies aside, the last series before 2012 was 2003... Not accounting for seasons (and years) after the first episode aired, that's a much longer gap than what this series gave us. I remember seeing this almost the day after 2012 ended and I couldn't help but hate it with a passion. It just didn't stand a chance in my eyes cuz not enough time had passed for me to get over the high I felt from the storyline of 2012's (and even that could have had a better finale).

These are one of the reasons why i love Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I love how the show teaches the importance of family and being their for your family. Rise really taught me so many things from their episodes. This show deserves a season 3 and it deserves to continue
Ok so- I think they're all different types of mutated turtles. Donny is a Soft Shell Turtle, Raph is a Alligator Snapping Turtle, Mikey is a Painted Box Turtle, and Leo is a Painted Turtle. If you look these turtles up you can see the resemblance of their shells or skin patterns

Every version of the Turtles introduces something great. The turtles being different species, and Splinter's characterization/origin are standouts from this series, and I hope they carry it forward. Seeing a live action movie take the different species approach would be cool

Pretty sure this is also the first time the turtles were mutated using human DNA. Usually they're just mutated and happen to look human, but this time they are actual genetically engineered beastfolk.

Wow, Splinter being an actual dad who owns up to his mistakes and apologizes to his sons for them rather than being a cold sensei who gives borderline meaningless advice, while not even letting the *TEENAGE* Mutant Ninja Turtles be teenager. Who would’ve predicted that?
In TMNT I felt like his son/ninja ratio varied between episodes. I will say, I've never really liked how in previous iterations of these characters, they always talk to each other by their names or titles, instead of familiar relationships. Like, I can understand why the turtles would call him Master Splinter in front of him, but it's a bit jarring to think this kids call their father Master Splinter when talking to each other, even in private.

When they actually talk formally to him and call him sensei in "Insane in the Mama Train" it's actually a little unsettling (despite the jokes) because it is so unlike them to talk like that.
This version of Splinter cares more about his sons than anything else in the world. As evident when he spend quality time with them when they were children, he is their dad first and foremost. ❤️😊💕
Teen titans go was a parody, they often make jokes but honestly it went way too far, rise was meant to be different, especially their target audience was really new generation and not old fans, but we can still see the love and devotion of the creator from this show to satisfy old and new fans.

Rise just took that idea and sprinted with it and did stuff that I heavily enjoyed to the point that I would love to see future versions take inspiration e.g. a Leo who has to earn the leader spot or the different species angle.
maybe when he was young, he was trying to make some new move based on those four names, but it didn't work out, so he gave those names to them instead.
I love how in this version Splinter is the Turtles biological father. I know they were made by combining oze with his DNA but still blood wise. But when Splinter was experimented on, he could’ve chosen to leave them, let them die in the fire, or let Drax experiment on them. But no ,he took them in as his own (which they technically are) when no one asked him too. Sure, splinter wasn’t “ around a lot “ in the first couple episodes. Rasing four turtles probably took a toll on him, when is choosing between the turtles and the dark armor , he chose his sons. That’s what a parent does, protecting their kids. He chose his sons over the fate of humanity. That just shows what a loving caring and protective father he is.
I like how crazy looks at baby leo and says they will be a proud warrior becuase that's exactly what he commonly know about the chatecter. And now we know more about him than just warrior... but in a way this version a Leo became much a warrior his own way.... if that makes sense
Splinter was their FATHER in this series. Not their sensei. He raised them as he would any child, not training them to be ninjas like other Splinter's did. He focused on their well being rather than their skills and was proud of them for who they turned out to be, not who he molded them into. He was a good dad.
Aww I like that twist. He really is kind of their dad on a dna level and not just because he raised them (not to imply that raising is less important than dna bonds because I generally believe it’s more important. Mad love to adoptive parents)
"rIsE wAs so dUMb, it dIdN'T haVe any character dEVelopMeNT." Yeah, it was all because of us ungrateful fans for this show to get cancelled! Sure, it didn't start off great in a few first episodes. Though, as it went on, it showed our boys improve on their personalities than just party dudes. Not to mention despite him with a jerky, as well as lazy personality, it revealed more from their Splinter, as he showed he DOES want to improve on how to be a better teacher/father, which proved he actually truly cares about them. Damn, such a unique reboot, despite some flaws, if we gave it an actual chance than to just hate on it, immediately, it could've transformed into an incredible show with more than 26 episodes!
I really like how this show not only made the turtles have different physical characteristics but made them all different species. That really left freedom to go above and beyond with the individuality in their character designs and personas.

I mean the show is there to show how they rised up into becoming the Ninja Turtles team we all know and that meant of course making them younger than in other iterations but you can't really show on TV how a 13 y/o child is getting hit, you know? >_> (so that's why they LOOK older)

When we met them, they were not ninjas yet.

And, curiously, we skipped meeting April, something that was always showed in every show.
Donnie's development is based on mysticism, not his tech expertise.
i think theyll show us aprils introduction in a later episode. i think the cool thing about this april is that shes chosen family, and i think the show has done very well to establish aprils long relationship with the turtles. i think it was smart for them to establish that first, bc in the other series aprils relationship to the turtles was very different

It was "blindly" hated by many of us due to the immediate remake after 2012's version had ended. They (2012) did something for the first time that would have changed the turtle's entire way of life and, instead of delving into the psychology of that event, Nick remade it with what was arguably poorer graphics and lazier storytelling. I'm sure the pandemic didn't help either, but they should have waited at least a few years before rehashing the same material. Drastically changing characters' appearances and dynamic doesn't count and it wasn't appreciated among those of us who had spent so much time engaged in (what we saw as) a better series. For example, and putting the movies aside, the last series before 2012 was 2003... Not accounting for seasons (and years) after the first episode aired, that's a much longer gap than what this series gave us. I remember seeing this almost the day after 2012 ended and I couldn't help but hate it with a passion. It just didn't stand a chance in my eyes cuz not enough time had passed for me to get over the high I felt from the storyline of 2012's (and even that could have had a better finale).

These are one of the reasons why i love Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I love how the show teaches the importance of family and being their for your family. Rise really taught me so many things from their episodes. This show deserves a season 3 and it deserves to continue
Ok so- I think they're all different types of mutated turtles. Donny is a Soft Shell Turtle, Raph is a Alligator Snapping Turtle, Mikey is a Painted Box Turtle, and Leo is a Painted Turtle. If you look these turtles up you can see the resemblance of their shells or skin patterns
Soft shell turtles have very vulnerable shells it's why he learned how to use technology bc he wanted to find a way to protect his shell

Every version of the Turtles introduces something great. The turtles being different species, and Splinter's characterization/origin are standouts from this series, and I hope they carry it forward. Seeing a live action movie take the different species approach would be cool
I'd love to see a crossover with Rise and the 2012 series. The 2012 turtles would look awesome in Rise's art style, and I'd kill to see how cursed the Rise turtles would look in 3d.

Wow, Splinter being an actual dad who owns up to his mistakes and apologizes to his sons for them rather than being a cold sensei who gives borderline meaningless advice, while not even letting the *TEENAGE* Mutant Ninja Turtles be teenager. Who would’ve predicted that?
In TMNT I felt like his son/ninja ratio varied between episodes.
I will say, I've never really liked how in previous iterations of these characters, they always talk to each other by their names or titles, instead of familiar relationships.
Like, I can understand why the turtles would call him Master Splinter in front of him, but it's a bit jarring to think this kids call their father Master Splinter when talking to each other, even in private.

Teen titans go was a parody, they often make jokes but honestly it went way too far, rise was meant to be different, especially their target audience was really new generation and not old fans, but we can still see the love and devotion of the creator from this show to satisfy old and new fans.
@@amirulamani1487 Can confirm. Originally when Rise came out I was more so against it, but I decided to try a few of the episodes. The Easter Eggs sucked me in, and so I can now happily put Rise with the other Turtle series/movies I have watched. Let's just say it grew on me.

@@dysnomialove4194 Which, in reality, is nothing new for the franchise. TMNT has been treating adaptations as their own universes where things have been reinvented. Rise just took that idea and sprinted with it and did stuff that I heavily enjoyed to the point that I would love to see future versions take inspiration e.g. a Leo who has to earn the leader spot or the different species angle.

I love how in this version Splinter is the Turtles biological father. I know they were made by combining oze with his DNA but still blood wise. But when Splinter was experimented on, he could’ve chosen to leave them, let them die in the fire, or let Drax experiment on them. But no ,he took them in as his own (which they technically are) when no one asked him too.
Sure, splinter wasn’t “ around a lot “ in the first couple episodes. Rasing four turtles probably took a toll on him, when is choosing between the turtles and the dark armor , he chose his sons. That’s what a parent does, protecting their kids. He chose his sons over the fate of humanity. That just shows what a loving caring and protective father he is.

Splinter was their FATHER in this series. Not their sensei. He raised them as he would any child, not training them to be ninjas like other Splinter's did. He focused on their well being rather than their skills and was proud of them for who they turned out to be, not who he molded them into. He was a good dad.

Yeah, it was all because of us ungrateful fans for this show to get cancelled! Sure, it didn't start off great in a few first episodes. Though, as it went on, it showed our boys improve on their personalities than just party dudes. Not to mention despite him with a jerky, as well as lazy personality, it revealed more from their Splinter, as he showed he DOES want to improve on how to be a better teacher/father, which proved he actually truly cares about them. Damn, such a unique reboot, despite some flaws, if we gave it an actual chance than to just hate on it, immediately, it could've transformed into an incredible show with more than 26 episodes!

I really like how this show not only made the turtles have different physical characteristics but made them all different species. That really left freedom to go above and beyond with the individuality in their character designs and personas.
