    Fun fact: Kenshi Yonezu, the person who made the opening theme (KICK BACK), is actually also the person who inspired syudou into making music; in fact, syudou adores him so much. Syudou himself said, "The thought of 「I want to see the world Kenshi Yonezu sees」 is why I started in music." I'm happy that finally after years, they are standing on the same stage making music for a big show like Chainsaw Man. Congrats to him!

    TOOBOE and even Kenshi Yonezu started out as Vocaloid Producers too. The term Vocaloid isn't the music but the Synthetic Vocals that are being used.
    In syudou's and many others cases, they've started to self-cover their own songs and slowly walk away from Vocaloid.

    Syuodu created all this music by himself. Lyrics, composition, arrangement, vocals.. all by this one man.
    That's like so damn cool
    This is what impresses me the most about so many J-pop artists. They take all the production on their own and deliver these bangers.

    • @tai8443

      Its why I love Vocaloid and its culture so much. They always are breathtaking to hear, and sometimes you get these talented vocaloid producers who have a really good voice themselves too (e.g, Giga, syudou, shimonP). And even if they dont use their own voice, their tuning of the vocaloids (like Miku, Flower, etc) and the composition is absolutely nuts, best example I can remember is Kikuo and a personal favorite of mine is NILFRUITS. Kanaria also has a very distinctive tune to his works.. I hope this YT Channel gets into vocaloid more..

    I know it's quite clear that the vocals are mainly done by syudou himself. But I can see that those parts that have a megaphone or old recorder effect might sound like it's Vocaloid (with how robotic it sounded), it may just be the effect that made it sound like that but I wouldn't put it past syudou to synthesize his own voice for those parts. It's a really creative piece.
    Speaking of new Japanese songs Ryokuoushoku Shakai had just recently released a new song called Michi Wo Yuke which I thought sounded super cool (I don't have the musical knowledge to describe it in more detail ahaha) and it would be great if Tony and more people would listen to it!

    Since Syudou (pronounced shoo-doe) is a vocaloid producer, this song is very much stylistically vocaloid music.
    Although vocaloid is not a genre in and of itself, there are certain elements of production which show up fairly often. The interesting instrumentation, use of chromatic elements, and experimental songwriting are all common elements in vocaloid music.

    • @DrumRollTonyReacts
      @DrumRollTonyReacts  Год назад +8

      Chromaticism is present in almost everything spanning years and years of musical composition. What, other than that, would you say are the key ingredients in Vocaloid?

    • @keson4700
      @keson4700 Год назад +9

      @@DrumRollTonyReacts vocaloid is just the vocal of the song being extremely high pitch, how the background being slow, fast, funky, groovy rocks, metal scrappy, those aren't the point, it's the voice thats been made extremely high pitch and robotic that makes them vocaloid, there's volaloid software that's free that u can use
      They do have voice actors, otherwise known as 'voice providers' or 'CVs'. For example, Hatsune Miku's (both V2 and V3 versions) voice is provided by Fujita Saki, a Japanese voice actor. Usually the voice providers of vocaloids are reputable singers or voice actors. The voice providers will be asked to have a recording in a studio when a new singer's library is under development. After that, the voice in the recording will be processed and made into a singer's library. The singer's library contains fragments of the voice of the voice provider and it is used by Vocaloid artists to compose the songs
      Vocaloids came from a pre-recorded sample.
      Voice actors can deliver decent vocals for tuning, but singers can deliver high quality vocals.

    I think that the instrument you thought might be a kalimba was a toy piano, but I could be mistaken. syudou is all about weaving together a lot of kinda janky sounds into a really nice complex melody. His best-known Vocaloid song is called Bitter Choco Decoration, and it has a similarly off-kilter vibe to it; I personally think you can kind of see his growth as a composer if you compare Bitter to this song, since they do some similar things.
    As others have pointed out, he's got lots of music both using Vocaloid vocals (almost exclusively Hatsune Miku) and that he's sung himself, but he's also done a few songs for other vocalists. Most notably, he wrote the singer Ado's debut single, Usseewa (ooh-seh-wah, translates more or less to "shut the f*ck up), which was a huge hit that I can't recommend highly enough.

    If you like Syudou you’ll LOVE Ado.
    He’s written her biggest hit “Usseewa” and you can definitely hear the similarities in writing style.
    Hope you react to some Ado soon, her voice is arguably the best i’ve heard in a REALLY long time, but the writing and production is great too more often than not.
    I recommend you react to “Usseewa”, “Gira Gira”, “Odo”, “Readymade” and “New Genesis” as starters. They’re her biggest hits so far and her first #1 hit came out when she was 17 years old!
