If you can see his hands on the cover photo, its an original. In the remaster the photo is cropped. According to something I watched recently on YT anyway. You’ve got the real deal there! Great to have this in your collection!!
I had obtained a bootleg copy back in the seventies. Loved it especially why Judy why There is a great version of tomorrow is today out there with his original California band. They are incredible
CSH in its original form is BJs best, perhaps not mixed and mastered well but the songs with the heartfelt vulnerability is still there. Years ago I took Tomorrow is Today and slowed it down, re-recorded it and put it here on RUclips. I still have it posted for those interested. My favorite BJ is the original CSH and Piano Man album. Thanks and peace...
Holi Canoli! Love yer chan! Went to the now defunct Friends World College in Lloyd Harbor near Cold Spring Harbor. FWC was on Livingston Estate, and Cold Spring Harbor had Cold Spring Harbor Labs, on the Estate of Dulles: both estates were East India Trading Co. money - Billy lived in a house in an ithmus a thin line -- wow, was there in '80, was intense - never knoew of this album though so thnx, will add it to stuff! Take good care.
Yup, thanK yoU for this! Ah believe that is Billy's 'Ray Charles' on the bridge of "Tomorrow Is Today'. Also, in some way, ( although his musical influences seem quite clear in various parts of these songs) Billy actually (serendipidousely?) innovated a piano style withn the styles he wrote and played. And then there are the non-musical aspects, seen and unseen, to the ( seemingly simple) "mystery wrapped around an enigma". As with the populous dfference between 1931 to 1971, 'the times' were vastly different - if one didn't encounter like a land mine - such as those in the front lines of Vietnam, domestic, Race, etc. wars. Gigs could easily end at 2 and Latin gigs began around 2:30. And then there were the 'till morning jazz jams' , yes sir! G-d keep you blessed pls, sir!
Although Attila is a much maligned album, I think it should be regarded as a seminal release to the birth of heavy metal music. One of my all time favourites.
You really should get "Hour of the Wolf" by the Hassles. Joel pretty much wrote all the songs and it was very keyboard oriented. As far as Cold Spring Harbor goes, I prefer the original mix, but speed corrected. I am not thrilled with Arte Ripp's 1983 remix as he redubbed the instruments on a few songs. As far as his suicide attempt, in 1971 it was less than a year earlier as that happened after he was in Attila. So it was a pretty recent occurrence at the time.
The Remastered Version of Cold Springs Harbor is Pure Gold There's NOT A Bad Song on the Album I understand his Disappointment & Let Down of the initial Release at Wrong Speed
I left my comment with the wrong channel, this is the one with the CSH video, i made that video before i made my music channel lol, anyway, you got 2 subscribers now.
You also have to get his 1981 live album “Songs From the Attic”’when he revisited some of this era. Fantastic record.
One of my favourites. Miami 2017 is the best opening track you could have to an album.
The only essential live album he made.
I love song's from the attic
Songs in the attic
Such a great album, could listen to it on repeat all the time and wouldnt get tired

Cold Spring Harbor. I love this album. Some songs are a little naive in the lyrics, but the music is superb.

Can’t believe you didn’t play a portion of Tomorrow Is Today to compare the ‘71 orchestra to the ‘83 lonely piano!
That one and "Everybody loves you now" sound radically different.
@@jeraldjoyce2995 Yes!!

i think it's his best album. i recently got an original copy as well, didn't know about any of this until i heard a rerun of american top 40 last year

Geez, speed corrected from the original "You Can Make Me Free" goes from 5:40 to 5:55.
CORRECTION: Streetlife Serenade was released on 1974, not 1973. 2:46

There are two versions of the song you can make me free. The longer version has a long instrumental ending.
