It’s fascinating how swapping out just one ingredient changes the flavour profile of the drink so significantly. This drink sounds delicious, I might have to try it
I just recently came across your channel and want to say how much I enjoyed it. I had my private pilot's licence and am developing my culinary skills now that I am retired. Thank you for all you do!
Whenever you make 2 different cocktails but the only difference is the liquor, I think you should add all the ingredients into one glass and then split that in half, so you don't accidentally get an extra dash or drop into one vs the other
Hey Glen! Love these videos. I don't drink alcohol all that much, in fact, pretty rarely. But I'm just curious - do you think that tiny bit of simple syrup and lemon juice really adds to it? I can't imagine you'd taste it all that much!
So those are dark rums, I guess? Reminds me a bit of a cable car, which is one of my cocktails of choice at the moment, but I make those with a spiced rum and I think the cinnamon sugar rim garnish is a vital component. So maybe not so similar...
A really good rum can make a mixed drink or merely a spiked soft drink much better - if you’re willing to spend the extra money. It’s not as big a win as with tequila, where a decent tequila versus a cheap nasty one makes a huge difference.
Hi Glen and Julie! I have been watching you for years, primarily for the old cookbook videos. It's a part of my Sunday morning routine. Anyway, I noticed that this recipe had bitters and others flavorings. As a mostly non-drinker, what products/things would you recommend a newbie start with for making drinks at home? Like the go-to essentials for cocktails? I'm talking not only the bitters and flavorings, but actual liqueur such as vodka, rum, etc. That would be a neat video (although different from the usual). ---Perhaps and most likely, I am not your target audience for the cocktail videos. I am sure the primary viewers have a fully stocked bar! But, I would love a cocktail essentials for newbies video! #ViewerRequested Edit: Perhaps you already have one! Eeek better to search Edit 2: You do have a Cocktails 101 Playlist, but not quite what I mean.
I won't tell the cocktail police. There is an apricot cordial cocktail I saw on top of a recipe you did and I can't remember the name of it, I don't even remember which cocktail book it was in. Would you happen to remember?
Thanks for watching Everyone! If you enjoy this video please share with friends, comment, like, and maybe subscribe for more just like it.
Excited to try this

When that ingredient is the main flavor base in a spirit-forward or spirit-only drink it’s less of a surprise that it’s a significant change.
I'm glad it was better than the one last week.

This channel is such a wonderful mix of love of food and drink, education, and just being delightful and relaxing to watch.

I like the clean spoons and measuring cups lol. No cross contamination!
That Diplomatico Rum Reserva Exclusiva is amazing. It does taste lovely in cocktails or a Dark & Stormy.
So glad o found this channel as it has so much content!
Cheers!
It's like changing the whiskey in a sour as they have different things in the background and forground depending on the maker
Your reactions said it all. They were good and similar but different. The types of rums you used definitely had an impact.

Hey Glen, Have you considered doing one of these Live? Would be fun (for the audience...). Could be on YT or Rumble perhaps?

Use both rums?
This cocktail to me seems like a old fashion and a whisky sour combined
What is that? A jar of maraschino cherries for ants?!

I notice that your channel features auto-translated titles. Please don’t. The Danish translation is inevitably horrendously and misleadingly bad.
Same with the Finnish translation.
